Yes, Chris, I would also like to know..
Pitt, I've seen those. They make baby Jesus cry. Actually so did the End of Eva movies, but.. That's beside the point.
..Changing "Rei" to "Ray" has got to be the most hilariously dumbassed name change since.. well.. Sailor Moon's "Rei" to "Raye". Seriously. I might understand changing "Misato Katsuragi," after all, Amurrkans dun unnerstand teh japuhneese wurds, but.. Come on.
So, congratulations, filmmakers. You made three original and dynamic characters into bland scifi archetypes and you made Eva 01 look wrinkly like my Grandma. I hope you're happy!
Oh, TOTP!

I thought about it for a while and have choosen to only link this one http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/8772/prettydamnclose.jpg

That one never bothered me.  I mean, it's not like you can hear how her name is spelled when it's spoken.

It's not the name changes or the way that the evas look that will make ths movie suck.  The real reason that it will suck is because, instead of 14-year-old kids, the eva pilots will be played by adult actors, thus defeating the entire purpose of the story.  All of the psychological aspects will likely be removed, and the movie will end up being about giant robots fighting giant monsters, which is not at all what Eva is about.

Ignorance cannot overcome facts.  Anyway, I dred to think who's gonna direct this piece of eva-crap.  With my luck, it'll be Roland Emerich.

Here are some more reasons that adaptation movies DON'T work:

Street Fighter
Godzilla
The aborted Saban Live-action Sailor Moon
Double Dragon
Hulk
Batman and Robin

If there is good fortune with the project it may turn out like the X-men movie, Spider-man, or Abre los Ojos (See the second Urusei Yatsura movie).  All of which are good films, but they stile PALE in comparason to the either the original or the originals legacy and breadth.

Somebody post some pictures.  I'm depressed.

Also, don't forget that other live-action adaptation of Sailor Moon.  You know, the one where they changed Usagi's name to Buffy.

Any who.

Here soem pics from an awesome series I just finished watching.

Last Exile (finding good quality pics was really hard)

Also some good news (at least for me). Thanks to a uni mate of mine I have been able to get my grubby mits on GITS: SAC 1st gig and Wolf's Rain. As soon as I'm finished with Scryed I am definitly going ot watch them.

I don't know about ice skating, but they did have live-action Sailor Moon musicals in Japan.  Hey, it worked for The Lion King, why not?

I've been watching Wolf's Rain on Adult Swim.  Very strange, but not in a bad way.  It's starting to grow on me.

That's what I mean. You can't tell the spelling from when it's spoken.. So changing the spelling at all is a pointless and gay thing to do.

I'm on dial-up, Pitt.  It would take hours to download that just to find out what it is.  Assuming that it's what I think it is, and we are talking about the same thing, here's the real story.

Well, you were upset about the live-action Eva project, so I thought that seeing the real thing would cheer you up.  I thought that you liked Eva.  Isn't that why you're so upset about the live-action thing?

That's what I heard.  I don't know if it's true, but when was the last time that you saw a live-action sci-fi movie with three 14-year-olds in the lead roles?  I think the best we can hope for is probably young adult actors passed off as older teenagers.  Meh.

Worst case scenario: Freddie Prinze Jr. as Shinji and Sarah Michelle Gellar as Asuka.

Let's just pray that it doesn't come to that.

I like this picture.. It has the pictues hat flash briefly in the end credits.
So anyway, I met Alan Ruck the other day.. Nice fellow, he's doing The Producers in my town at the Carr. Lovely singing voice. But when he did Ferris Bueller, he was 30. 30! He looked younger than Matther Broderick, who was 20 at the time. Actors that look like him are hard to find. He's somewhat older than my father but looks much younger[and my Dad is pretty spry].
There are very few people I'd pick from for that movie. Rupert Grint might make a fine Kensuke.. Norah Jones would be lovely as Misato[though I can't imagine her ACTING like Misato.. Euuu..], of course it helps that I think Norah's the perfect woman. But.. Asuka.. I cannot think of anyone so daring.. so lovely..!

Kate Rose?

Like Kate winslet who played Rose in Titanic?

Fuck you, Hollywood.  My guess is they'll get Reese Witherspoon to play the part, she practically already played it in "Election."

Plotless PLASTIC Little.  Urushihara's debut animated feature, as well as one of ADV's first aquisitions before getting the rights to Evangelion and becoming Filthy stinking rich. (That Farscape funding had to come from somewhere).

Interesting side note, back in my fic MSTing days, I'd use the "Little" Crew to riff with.  Always a blast.

You used anime characters? Bah, I made my own crew up. Nothing like Holograms of Napoleonic War soldiers and a Russian Cyborg to fill the gap.

Anywho, a few pics and some Nurdy linkage. I want to show you all the stuff before I remove it from the PC, I want to make more room for my game mods.

I'ts brand new yet already licensed by Bandai, and the 3rd episode's just around the corner so there's not much to tell. Basically it's set in 16th century Japan with these 3 main characters with a "we're good but we don't follow the rules" kind of mentality.

If that sounds familiar it's because Shinichiro Watanabe is directing it. No Yoko Kanno, though. Replace the jazz with a bit of hip-hop and retain some of the style, and this anime does have style. Most of the character's faces look like they've been hit with the ugly stick however.

Wrong Watanabe. Nabeshin is Shinichi Watanabe and this it Shinichiro Watanabe (Director of cowboy bebop. Very similar names I'll admit also to note I've been told that Watanabe is the japanese equvilant of Smith ie it's very common.
