Bart Mangled Banner.

It was on... and stuff happened... and... yeah. I actually can't remember much. I don't think it deserved all the hate it got. Just another mediocre ep (unless I missed a one of those really awful jokes...)

Final Grade: ?

Er, ah, top of the page expectoration on the guy below me.

Anyway, I've seen another ep, but it turns out it's not that new. I haven't seen it before though, so I'll review it anyway... "The Old Man and the Key". This was quite a reasonable episode, it was good to see Grandpa get a staring role, and Homer's role reversal with him was great. Some nice jokes, and quite a good plot, although it did remind me somewhat of that Season 2 ep where Grandpa falls in love with that woman who dies. This has enough newness to make it good. Pity about a couple of shitty jokes, like the hub cap following Grandpa, and that man turning to ashes when he says he's already dead. Pretty good otherwise though...

The difference here is that usually its just vague speculation (either from a random producer, or even just a dvd/simpsons site), where here we have actual specific information and a specific date.  With that said Amazon is listing it as January 21 (instead of December 21), but even if it really gets pushed to January at least we know it'll be coming out around that time, and a lot more quickly then usual.

Well I just hope you're right. Only yesterday I checked amazon.com and it said that the studio isn't currently producing the title, but you could be notified when they do. So it's clool to see today they have a date. The worrying thing is that amazon.co.uk don't even have it listed at all...

Well it hasn't been announced for UK yet, and I guess probably won't until we see a more official press release from Fox.  Going by the usual pattern I'd say a month or two after U.S. release it will come out there, but we'll see.  Either way, good news for Region 1 is good news for Region 2.

It isn't up on Amazon.ca, and us Canucks have the same release date as the US for practically everything. They are likely just waiting for more offical word, I guess.

Season five in December? *Has a heart attack*

Hopefully, this means that season six will be out in June, because that would be awesome.

I saw some season 15 episodes in syndication today. I'm not sure if they had cut jokes in season 14 (I heard that they didn't) or not but "The Regina Monolouges" and "I (annoyed grunt)bot" had jokes cut out of them.

5 BEST EPISODES:
1. The Way We Weren't
2. I, D'ohbot
3. Smart And Smarter
4. My Mother The Carjacker
5. Simple Simpson

Overall, a few bad episodes, but currently the best season since Season 9... Also, I just want to say that I remember giving Season 14 a LOT of shit last year, and after re-watching a lot of Season 14 episodes, it wasn't half as bad as I remember it being. Still, Season 15's been better than 14 as a whole.    :)

Newhook, here's the season 14 cuts guide:
 http://snpp.com/episodes/scg-14.txt

Nothing too drastic but there are cuts, including some jokes.

Also, this thread is nearing its end (20 pages expires a thread, right?) so we'll need a new one soon.  I propose it be called "Revenge of the Simp".

For the record, my family happens to be British, and even though I live in Australia - I was born in the UK. I mean, big deal - so Britain was portrayed completely inaccurately. In "Bart vs Australia", they showed Australia as being some extremely backwards country with a Prime Minister who enjoys floating in a creek & living next-door to regular people, Kangaroos just hopping down the street, members of the public with terrible attempts at Aussie accents claiming bullfrogs should be called "Chazwozzas", and a legal system that prides itself on booting people up the ass. NONE of it is true, it's all just an exaguration of the Aussie stereotype... but that's why I love that episode.

Everyone should know by now that the 'Simpsons go to another country' episodes should never, ever be taken seriously...

The best part of the "Chazwozzas" joke is that their actually making fun of Aboriginal names for animals. Fantasticly un-pc.  :D

I saw "HOMR" for the second time today, and I have to say it got better. All jokes were fresh, and I picked up a new one, as follows:
[Homer]Animation is better than......whatever the alternative is.[/Homer]

I also noticed that in the episode (name forgotten) that Barney quits being an alchoholic, when Bart and Lisa are standing on top of a hill, you see what looks like the St. Louis Arch in Springfield. Has this already been discussed and dismissed, or is this new?

I'd prefer it if they did that than to have him make a guest appearnce on the show.
The difference is that the austaralian jokes were funny, and there were lots of other non austaralian joke that were very funny to.

The same can't be said for regina monolouges.

And? Because one has funny jokes and the other doesn't is the complete basis for why it's OK to make fun of one country and not another? I have no problem with them making fun of Australia, I loved it and it's actually one of my favourite episodes. While 'Regina Monologues' wasn't very good, Brits need to get over how they were portrayed.

No offence M0le, but the episode has TONY BLAIR as a guest star. TONY FUCKING BLAIR!

Also, I want to punch the queen for being alive. This episode has increased my hate for her as well. It's a bad episode with a lame plot, deal with it.

To be fair I don't think the Queen played herself, if that's what you're getting at.  Though obviously Blair alone was reason enough for me to permanentally skip that one (yep, still haven't watched it; its a "lost" episode to me basically, and I prefer to just disregard it like it doesn't exist).

M0le's not calling The Regina Monologues good, as far as I can see. He's just amused by our loyal Britons (well, Nurdy) seemingly taking offence at their portrayal in the episode. Which is doubly amusing if you consider that in nearly every other episode of the Simpsons they're taking the piss out of Americans.   :D

Slacky, you dissected my rambling gibberish in one go. Congratulation.  :D
It's hardly a good episode, with the exception of this one line:
Lisa: Oh, no! The secret tunnel comes out in the worst possible place!
Bart: An elephants butt?
Lisa: Yes Bart, an elephants butt.
The only way that episode could be saved would be if they replaced Tony Blair with Rowan Atkinson.

Incase the roll-eyes smiley didn't give you a bit of a hint, my comment on the British national anthem wasn't meant to be taken seriously.   :p

Also, to justify my C- score... while it is a pretty crappy episode, I did like the MacBeth joke (especially the "good luck" gag at the end of it), and the fact that Homer somehow heard that "Bart's Moon Party" song and started singing it. I also enjoyed most of the small jokes during the opening minute with Mr. Burns drawing money out of an ATM, even though it created more continuity errors with his age...

Still, if it wasn't for those things, this episode definately would've gotten a D at the least. Also, even though C- is the exact same score as a D+, I did like this episode a little bit more than the ones I gave a D+ to, hence the score. Although I'd give Bart vs Australia an A any day.   ;)

I'm not really botherd by the potrayls, its just that almost none of it was funny.
Its Ok for Simpsons to take shots at americans because they are americans, they actually observe other americans and their sterotypes have some basis in fact.

and anyway its not like it would be ok for me to call black people 'nigger' If I also make fun of my own race.

"The Simpsons Season 16: Big Thread and Little Post"
"The Simpsons Season 16: It Used to Be Matt's Show"
"The Simposns Season 16: 'The Simpsons are going to PEEL!'"
"The Simpsons Season 16: There's something about John Vitti"
"The Simpsons Season 16: Homer gets a thread."

Those are my admititly crappy suggestions for the next thread title.
