Soembody thought of these very popular ideas that gave us legions of crappy TV shows, but which one was the worst? As for me, I'll say the CBN, even though I'm religious I hate that channel and everything in it.

Reality TV. You can get around the other ones by not watching, but for some reason "reality" shows get massive coverage in basically every media, and are a lot harder to ignore.

They made a TV series out of that?

Neat.

God, I hate Reality TV. The only one that could even be considered good was 'My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance'.   :)

Most of that stuff can actually be good if someone puts some effort into it. However, when someone thinks it's a good idea to take a great series and write a load of crappy episodes to continue it, it can completely ruin that show for me (*cough*startrek*couch*)

Soaps. The acting is terrible, the plots are pathetic and repetitive, everyone is in their late teens or early twenties and the entire thing just looks really, really fake.

I actually don't mind SOME reality TV. For example, I really like Survivor, and The Block was also good. But I do agree that the vast majority of reality shows are almost painful to watch!  :p

I have to agree. I find that most annoying.
I can ignore TV entirely. But for a good series that then goes bad its worse because you let your guard down, so to speak.

"Becker" and "Just shoot me" were prime examples. Those two shows were just about pranks and snappy one liners. Then they were retooled.

Definately the CBN, i was flipping through the channels one night during a case of insomnia and i came across a show on the CBN blaming The Spice Girls and the Beatles for satanism and teenage pregnency. The were dead serious about it and i was laughing my head off.

As for reality tv, there are some shows i like. Like Survivor and Mad Mad House.

Reality TV is horrible. I also dislike Soaps and new episodes of classic series but reality TV is everywhere. Also FOX has offical beat reality of TV to death with ideas like "the Littlest groom"(or something like that). It really needs to stop.  The networks like it because its cheap and can keep it running for seasons after seasons and have set control over the cast. Its insane, we don't need reality TV, we need quality programming which is very tough to come by these days.

Reality TV by far. Ah it burns (especially when it takes over a schedule and gets rid of good shows, *cough*Big Brother*cough*).

Did you see that show where they find people who are cheating on their partners? They tape all the stakeouts and expose the guilty part on live TV in front of their partner... then he/she just has to talk his way put of it. That's emotioporn if there ever was such a thing. Very rediculous. And the part that has been wronged is the one who signs up for the show. Who in their right mind would want such a part of their private life broadcast on live TV? Are PIs out of style?
I hate that show.

I think it's pretty safe to say I hate television in general. Fuck it all. Sure, the game show fad was good, because it at least encouraged people to learn, even if it was for the wrong reasons. But what's this reality TV shit. And don't even get me started on sitcoms. I may just shit all over the floor.

What I hate about reality shows is that the people seem to be bad at what they're supposed to do. I was watching Road rules or Real world or whatever and this one girl fainted from walking too much and I was thinking to myself "I can do that, she's a wimp".

I don't even bother to catch a glimpse at CBN, but whenever I see those reverends yelling and taking deeps breaths inbetween their speech I always think to myself "geeze, take a breather".

Reality TV may be unscripted, but it doesn't live up to its name. Somehow, shoving people into a house, lying to countless women, enticing couples to break up with beautiful people and lavish surroundings, and promising stupid people who can't sing fame and fortune are not reality. True, we can find examples of all these in reality at one time or another, but shove a camera in the room and everything's different. Want reality? Don't tell us we're being watched.

Everything good on televison is dying. Yea, we are witness to the TV Acoplypse. When the networks finally dump all the good, thought provoking shows and make TV into "Reality Paradise" I will laugh because I have better things to do.

It may be illegal, but it's the only way you'll get anything worth watching in reality TV. I propose something like The Truman Show, only do it on an unsuspecting town. Course, the TVs would have to be fixed so they  don't get wise to it.

I would have to say reality TV, too. It's so little like real life, and there are way to many of them. However, some of them are good. (The ones that aren't "Let's shove a bunch of people in a house", or "Let's watch someone choose who they're going to propose to, then dump a week later" )

Reality isn't an idea, so i didn't vote for it (That and it doesn't need my vote!). Instead i'm going for soaps, they suck and are a waste of space.  Brits should know the horrors of Eastenders 4 nights a week.

That's why they appeal to me.  :)

I voted reality shows but I considered voting "other" because I hate this new wave of quiz shows TV has been having recently. One of the most stupid examples of this is 24 Hour Quiz, which is really annoying. I thought the contestants would be answering questions for 24 hours but, every time I've tuned in, I haven't seen one question being asked or answered. Waste of time and money.
