That was a crazy episode, all duplicate beating up and boning, and kidnappping and Starbucks sideboob!

Is it just me or did the guy they got to play Starbuck's father (who I am reasonably convinced is #7, Daniel) bear a passing resemblance to Michael Shanks?

Isn't it him? If not, he has a twin, or as you Brits say "a Doppelgänger".

Otherwise Boomer just suffocated her kid.

Whats wrong with Boomer.. ok call me Cp.Obvious but.. she goes from "innocent" sleeper unwilling agent to willing Cylon baddie..

The thing is.. i dont know why if Cavil does know the location of the fleet wich contains also the rebel BaseStar.. he doesnt attack.. he knew it before and will know now for sure...and since Galactica cant jump away.. its a sure kill..
Maybe Cavil didnt knew before Galactica's "rust" problems and tought they would simply jump away as allways.. but now Boomer probably knows and specially after the mess she caused in her hasty scape Galactica is probably in no shape to jump.

Many people in other forums complain about the sudden of Galactica's structural damage and that it was never adressed until know when suddenly it becames critical.. I say... same with cars.. sometimes some damages or stresses or deterioring dont became important or aparent until the last minute and then its done and you change it or send it to the yard..or a house.. it looks good until one day you notice a crack in the wall and you look and discover the wall is falling apart inside..

Info confirmed by podcast (as i have readed, i didnt listened it)

-All mutiniers that didnt rejoined Adama are in the Astral Queen (Racetrack, Narcho, Seelix, Skulls, those Pegasus rapers, Redwing? .. etc) wonder what happened with Kelly.. he had the great redemption he needed and he could fill the place left by Gaeta.

-Kara's father pianist was a vision.. i know its pretty obvious but many people think he was phissically there and just dissapeared.. are we lookin at the same Leoben like being Kara saw before going down the gas giant?

-Ellen's escape was staged by Cavil/Boomer .. i know its obvious too but many people also think it was Boomer sudden dessire of getaway from the rebel Cylons toghether with Galen and "their child"

also did anyone else got the "Felgercarb" joke?

I'm waaaay behind, just started watching the show finally this week...so forgive the very late comment about season 1... but if I was one of those survivors I'd expect the cylon scanning process to start, objectively, at the top of the power structure and work down from there, no exceptions. The president and commander bickering back and forth and ordering/cancelling tests based on their own gut instincts is utter bullshit.

:( Galactica is going down..  i wonder what Adama means with "send her out with style".. it seems clear that she will have a suicide mission like Pegasus had.. since everyone will be transfered out he will have to get a skeleton crew for that..

Weeee.. old raiders again!! Maybe we will see old Centurions again too.. in the miniseries Caprica 6 said that old centurions were still performing some low level taks

also its striking that massive Cylon ship... its that the Colony? because when Cylons said that Cavil moved the Colony.. how you move a whole world? or a whole world's facilities...

Is that the "dissapointing Cylon world"? Oh come on Ron... go to frack off.. Couple of years ago in a typical Q&A chat someone asked RDM is we were going to see the Cylon world ever and he said that maybe but that we would be dissapointed because since Cylons were now human like the Cylon world would look pretty much standard and normal and not "hyper-machine-like" ..

Now they say that the Cylon world is a hyper-tech-cool flying gigant station thing?

Edit to change Galactica's "It" for "she"

He said that? I renember they leaking that a major character would die in the final eps of season 3 and that Kate's name was to be striken from the credits in the last episodes of season 3. But dont renember the "she will not come back".
But i agree the "no thrust him" , he also said that the 12 Cylon humanoid models were because the Cylons looked at humanity and they tought they only needed 12 models to represent all types of humans..  now we know that the final 5 are 5 friends who were the finals alive Cylons to survive the earth holocaust.. that they travelled for 2000 years to the colonies and that they convinced the Cylons to stop the war and made 8 humanoid models for them.. so there is no "we made 12 models" crap.. it was 5 "random" who designed other 8 (one of wich we have yet to see)..
Its clear that when they wrote the miniseries and even season 1 and 2s they were not thinking in the "final 5" whole issue..

By the way..

Does anyone else feels .. with all thats happening now to the old lady Galactica and knowing her end is probably at the corner turn..  the urge to yell Lee "We wouldnt be in this mess if you hadnt used Pegasus as a big ram you morom!"

In the scene where all captains are yelling about who will get what from Galactica before abandoning her and some of them complaining about giving command of the flet to a Cylon BaseStar.. and Lee begins to yell back.. some of them should have answered him about throwing away Pegasus  :D

Uneventfull episode... we saw a bit more of the "Cylon colony".. we discovered its sitting over a black hole (1) , we know Galactica is going for Hera in a suicide mission from where she (Big G) is not coming back.

I geniully believe that everyone who steped in the right side (Hotdog included) will die.. wonder what will happen with the civilian fleet.. will they remain under the Cylon BaseStar (2) protection until they find a new home?.. will the BaseStar join the final fight in the last moment to save the moment like Pegasus did in New Caprica (only that this time probably both would became destroyed)

The next will be the last episode of Galactica..and will be a double one.. so this is (not counting the incoming movie "The Plan" wich will be a "prequel") the last time we can discuss an ep with other to come..or especulate.. i will miss this.

Also in the ep is a mention about Adama wanting to fly the last Viper out of Galactica.. will he still fly a Viper (maybe his old 7242NC) or will remain aboard the Big G until the end?

1-That black hole is not there by chance.. they will give it some use.. maybe it will swallow the Cylon colony ending there all evil Cylons and Cavil..maybe it will swallow ALL characters that go there.. maybe will transport them to another time or place or reality or dimension where then we will se some short of mysticall end with a white background and lots of trascendental dialogs.. It sure will swallow something

2-Has anyone else noticed in the past episodes that the Cylon BaseStar is now complete? I mean its arms tips have been repaired..

Aah, NO HOTLINKING! very nice.

I'm now caught up! Seen everything except the most recent ep, which is rerunning right before the final ep this week.  Well, in America; suck it the rest of you!
* Gopher will return in 5 days with spoilers for the brits! muahahaha.

Really enjoyed the hell out of this series, I can't say how it will stand up to a second viewing yet but on first pass even watching it all in 2 weeks, it almost never felt like they were making it up as they went along, though they probably were.

Thoughts:
  • #8 is hawt.
  • Lots of foreshadowing of final season stuff early on, which is awesomely rare in american television.
  • wtf is zombie starbuck? Are they gonna throw a time-travel twist at us in the finale or something?

Im upset they are leaving so important mysteries like the fracking Ionic Nebula power-down still with no answer.. its really dirty and cheap to make a great cliff-hanger like that with all ships powering down at the same time for no reason.. then powering-up again for no reason too , the Cylons appearing there for no reason also and Kara ALSO showing up there (for no reason).. I hope its all related to Kara's sudden show (like opening a portal or something wich causes an enery discharge or something) and they at least provide some short of explanation.. because of not im going to make series like this just making things up the weirdest the better and not explaining

Remember when I didn't DVR last Friday's episode (I was going out of town) because I figured I could just watch it on their site?  Well, of course the latest episode isn't on there.  Why the fuck not?  They don't rerun the episode during the week, so I don't see the problem.  To whatever suit makes this decision, you're lucky I'm too lazy to torrent this.  The internet means everything is on demand whether you like it or not.  Get with the program.

Ha, Gopher's disappointed! :p

I liked it, lot of people on another forum comparing it to the DS9 ending (which I can't remember all of now)
I see some elements of the Deus Ex ending(s) in it, there's one bit that was a bit deus ex machina.
Some sad bits, some WAAAT? bits too.

Quote
How about fan theories over the show, like mention of a missing Cylon named Daniel? After his name was mentioned, the fans just went wild online. Did you intend for that to happen, and was he supposed to inspire this big fan-driven backstory?

You know, the Daniel thing is going to be one of the great fiascos of the show, in terms of what fans thought and what the truth was. Because Daniel was not intended to be anything more than an interesting bit of backstory in that episode. And that's how we approached it. It was just a story that Cavil and Ellen tell each other, that sort of goes to the idea of who Cavil was and how deep his resentments were, and his jealous nature - and [we wanted to] do a Cain and Abel allegory. That was all it was.

And then after the show aired. I started picking up all this stuff about how fans were obsessing about Daniel and how [people thought] Daniel was Kara's father, and he was the big surprise. I started thinking, "Oh shit, slow down people, I don't want you to really get invested."

I usually don't like to go out there and say, "Oh, that's a bad theory," because part of the enjoyment of watching the show is coming up with ideas. But this was gathering such momentum, I didn't want people to be going into the finale and really be waiting for the Daniel shoe to drop, when there's no shoe. It's one of those things where you're inside the show, [and] you look at it, and go one way. And then it's broadcast, and an audience sees it, and then they seize on this piece that you never really anticipated, and then you're sort of amazed. And you're saying, "Slow down, no - come back."

I was pretty satisfied with the series finale.  That's a nice change from the last two series finales I've seen (The Wire and The Shield) which were huge let downs.  The BG finale had plenty of intense action and a nice wrap up.  I agree that the "they're us" aspect was a little wanky, but it wasn't that big of a shock to me.  I'd guess that bit was there since the show's inception.

My favorite parts:  Adama outside the bar barfing.  That had to be his finest bit of acting in the whole series.  Hilarious!  The creepy montage of our current robotic attempts at the end of the episode was a nice touch as well.

Well,  I'm officially out of shows now!  The preview for Caprica looked more interesting than I though it would be.  I might check that one out on the "Syfy" network (I can't believe they're changing the name to that, so stupid.  :laff: )
