Yay for TiVo!

Only things to say about the new episode is that a) it was a date, b) romantic feelings being > amnesia is getting old, and c) it was a date.

Oh, and Mitchell has lost his pants far fewer times than O'Neill.  Yet they always leave the dog tags...

Gopher: re: Nazi Planet Episode Land.  Well, as I recall at that point in the series (forget when, but sounds like the first four seasons or so) Earth was rather lacking in interstellar ships.  Like, I think they had one cargo transport on loan until after I stopped watching the show regularly and they suddenly became Macross.  As for cheating their way into technology...yeah, that would be smart, but they're the human heroes of a scifi show.  They have to keep a ludicrously high moral standard.  Unless they're Kirk or Janeway.

As for time travel...yeah, not enough time to argue that.  I seem to recall both "1969" and "Moebius" making sense in the end.  Never finished watching "2010."

And as for the languages?  Daniel > Universal Translator.

TotP Kree!

Nerd-o: re: nazis, was that first season? My knowledge of the overall story is too spotty for me to be able to quickly/easily place shows in the total timeline, since I've been watching SG1 from three separate points in the series at the same time (Fox; SciFi weeknights; SciFi Premieres)

And to say it's immoral to steal from nazis, but ok to KILL them, seems a bit questionable to me...

As for time travel, my objections are general, not specific. They do a better job than most shows/movies with it from what I've seen; it's not like they're doing "Timecop" stories.

Incidentally, don't take my continuous stream of negativity to mean I don't like the show; on the contrary, if I didn't like it, I wouldn't watch it, and would not be in this thread. Like all true nerds, I only nitpick the shows I love.

Just because I don't think I've ever said it anywhere on peel: I hate voyager, and I especially hate Janeway. The only thing I liked about the show was the holodoc, and I liked the light bulb on DS9 more.

What I do have a hard time suspending my disbelief about is that after we've built 4 (counting the Korolev) interstellar starships, a fleet of f-302s, and had God only knows how many battles in and around our atmosphere, that the Stargate program is still a secret.

Well, that Atlantis episode wasn't very good.   :hmpf:

Huh...
SG-1 gets Inara, and Atlantis apparently already got Kaylee, in Season 2!

Didn't realise, I prefer her un-wraithified!

Hmm...yeah, more reasons for me to like SG-1 better.

[Shallowness]Ugh, they made her non-cute?  Travesty![/Shallowness]

And Gopher: yeah, for some reason, killing all the aliens is part of the space explorer hero idiom but stealing is Against the Rules.

I blame Kirk.

Nerd-o: Well, of course it's Kirk's fault; that goes without saying.

Nix: Well, I cope with it just fine; it's an irritation to me, but it's more of a mosquito bite than a genital rash. And I do understand that there is really no good way around this problem; the only half-assed way around it I know of is a trek-style UT. In 10 years, they could've come up with something, though; even TNG came up with a (half-assed) explanation of why there are so many genetically-compatible humanoids in the galaxy with the ep. "The Chase" (seeding by ancient aliens.) If nothing else,  they could have had some other language be the "universal language", probably a form of ancient, preserved by most cultures in order to communicate with visitors through the gate. But subtitles would probably annoy most people more than the whole galaxy speaking english, so blah.

I didn't mind the eps this week, more Ronin smiling is good. I reckon hes a big softy under all his gruffness.

Like what they did with the zat in sg1. firing it along the girder. nifty!

Nix: Yeah, that was a fun little dynamic; I was kindof irritated at the begining. They brought him in to get her to sign the NDA, but after trying (and failing) to convince her, he just beamed her to the Prometheus and never mentioned the NDA again. ?

...huh? I don't recall that, or do you mean AFTER he "beamed" her to the Prometheus and let her in on everything? It's a bit late, then... and her hubby needs to sign one too, now. And you know you can't trust english majors to keep a secret!  :)

That's it lads, take the tone of the conversation to that level, just lucky i've had a few beers and i'm actually giggling my head off. you knobs.

i just hope the next few episodes are gonna be a bit more edge of your seat, i mean the first ep of this season had my heart pounding like you would not believe, i mean it was sooo exciting, and since then i have been dissapointed a little bit too much, i really like it when these guys do alot of action.

it is really hard to concentrate when dune is banging out on the laptop next to you while you are typing. my other half works from home... works! ha! no he does.

Yah, if anything mine was a reference to Sargent Bilko, which gives me negative points.

Sorry for digressing, vashti, but it's not my fault; Sci-fi is showing lame movies all week instead of SG1 reruns in the evenings. Blame them.  :)

Note to self:

If offered command of a tau'ri vessel, turn it down.  Immediately.

On Atlantis:

Well, at least it had some backstory on Shep.  And gorram, talk about SG2-20 syndrome.

I hope that button was big, red, and had "FIRE!" as a label.

I would like to expound on my position re: command of a tau'ri vessel.  Furthormore, if I am sent on a mission along with Sargeant Jenkins and Colonel Jones to support any combination of the following characters - Carter, Jakcson, Teal'c Jack, Mitchell, Sheppard, Tayla, Ronan, or McKay - I will put all of my affairs in order and then shoot myself in the head.

I guess Vala can come too, she can be a cheerleader for my mission "objectives".  :flirt:

Yeah, that episode would have made a lot more sense if I'd watched anything past Season 5 with any regularity.  I didn't know who any of these guys were, although I did remember the little disguise-injection thing.

It's tough to decide whether Captain Jackson or Mitchell conning the random alien callback guy was funnier though.

Dont use 'em. The other half does it. Likes file sharing.

Just watched the episodes this week. Atlantis is doing it for me more than SG1 at the moment. I know they wrote all the eps before the announcement, but i am finding SG1 a bit ho hum.

Want a bit more action. Still waiting for Ba'al to be back.

Or just plain Inara episodes.

Ruttin' Fox.

On the plus side, the five seconds of preview that TiVo recorded at the end indicate the next episode will be about The Lost City the Holy Grail, meaning we're back to the big metaplot rather than the tangential problems of the last two episodes.  Meaning: good chance of more Adrinara.

Yeah, I hate when they crossover actors that were in SG-1 without putting on some sort of hat on them or something, or at least some crazy alien make up.

They made new (and pretty) face Kaylee into a Wraith with no visable cleavage, but recycled ol' droopy eyes Linea with just and outfit change!  :(
I call boo-urns on that!
