I've just gotta know why there's so much Simpsons hating on PEEL. It's still funny, interesting, much better than most TV, and we still get at least 5 episodes a season that are even better than most Futurama episodes. I could name five this very season just off the top of my head...

1. 'Tis the Fifteenth Season
2. My Mother the Carjacker
3. The President Wore Pearls
4. I, D'oh-bot
5. Diatribe of a Mad Housewife

I've just GOT to know, why all the flame? I didn't see much bashing in my early days at PEEL, but then Futurama got cancelled and the claws came out.

i bet its because people think that the past simpsons were better than the present, so why should it stay on the air when futurama still had a lot of great ideas left. i, personally, love both, and it would be a shame to have the simpsons go off the air. i wish, as everybody else does, that futurama will get another shot on tv, so people dont think that it is overratted.

It's true that it's not in it's seasons 1-8 glory, but I still like it.

I agree with Leeaholic, not the greatest season, like the earlier ones. It seems that they are running out of material, but still want to keep the show on air.

I generally don't like it. I fall into the category of "not a fan of newer episodes." To me, something just seems missing since around season 10. Not to say that all those episodes were great, but to me, it seems like the writers are just going through the motions/rehashing old episodes.

Oh, and I hate to flame, but leelaholic, you were here a whole month before Futurama got cancelled. Just so you know, the same people were sniping at the Simpsons before Futurama got cancelled. Heck, most of us have been upset at the show since before Futurama premired.

I love The Simpsons almost as I love Futurama... the newer seasons have been lacking, but they are picking up again.  I see no reason to blame The Simpsons for Futurama's cancellation or to complain that it should be cancelled or anything like that.  When it is good, it is easily the best on TV, and when it is bad... well, you can always pull out the DVDs.

I don't buy into that "Futurama is cancelled, so I'll take my anger out on the Simpsons" line, either. As has been said before, people started disliking the Simpsons before Futurama was cancelled. IMO, the two don't have anything in common.

i have no strong opinion one way or the other. I don't watch simpsons regularly, if i'm really bored and i just happen to be flipping through the channels and it's on i may watch it (provided i can't find anything better), but i really wouldn't miss it if it went away. And i would miss it even less if Futurama replaced it.

It was alright until series 9. Whacky situations should stay in anime or crappy American sitcoms.

I flame The Simpsons because it deserves it, and so do people who insist on making countless posts and topics about The Simpsons on a Futurama message board*. People who even flame Futurama on a Futurama board, but can't bare their precious Simpsons to get flamed. What do you expect, it's not all roses anymore, and even the ones that are, aren't exactly fresh...

*including posts about the Simpsons on several occasions outside of the 'TV' section

Each to his own, etc., but seeing as how this is a Futurama board and all, I think I speak for most people here when I say  :nono:.

Yes you do zoidyzoid. Admittedly, I haven’t seen those particular eps, and therefore can't judge fairly. But based on your judgment as a true Futurama fan, like myself, and with my past experience of recent Simpsons eps, I wholeheartedly agree.

Hey now, I dont hate the Simpsons. It has more to do with not liking TV in general. Though, yes, I dont think it's all that great, funny, sure. But that's where not liking TV in general comes in- funny is not enough for me to watch, and it's not even always that funny. So, simply, I get bored of it. And the newer episodes are just meh.

Now, that's a good reason right there. Obviously, a good amount of PEELers like Futurama more or about the same as The Simpsons. I don't like people saying they're better than Futurama. Maybe in reality they are, but I prefer Futurama much more.

There's a good reason for that. People naturally get angry that the Simpsons is still going while Futurama's done.

People who want to talk about The Simpsons ad nauseam should do so on a Simpsons board, the Simpsons deserve no more than one thread, I don't see why there should be one for each season.

Despite what it may seem, I still love the Simpsons, but not near the extent that I love Futurama. I still buy the comics and tune into the new episodes, but it just doesn't have that little bit of something that Futurama has.

When I'm usually disliking the Simpsons the most, it's when it's being compared to Futurama.

That is a matter of opinion if I've ever seen one.

Wow, this sounds an awful lot like this thread:  http://www.peelified.com/cgi-bin/Futurama/14-000986/  which was coincidentally started by leelaholic also.

On another note: What the hell is with all the Simpsons threads? I fail to see how it's fair that most shows are limited to about three threads about three different things about the show (Example: Family Guy. Somebody tried to start a Family Guy quote game that was quickly swooped down upon and close) but the Simpsons can get an unlimited number of threads as long as they're all about different things or they're not about one individual episode or something.
This isn't a Simpsons message board, and I don't like it looking like one. In my opinion, if you want to discuss the Simpsons go to Maggified or the No-Homers Club or whatever.

I'll . . . agree.
Circle gets the square, good night everybody!

I stopped watching about season 12, I think.  Shortly after "Homer the Moe," which was the first Simpsons to actually make me feel sick to my stomach that I was watching it.
