If the show is moving into the 80s (as the commercials suggest), why isn't it "That 80s Show"?

I am pretty sure that that 80s thing is just a ratings pull and a one ep sorta thing... They do alot of imagining things... I think they do alot of drugs (the producers of the show that is) although a "That 80s show" would make for an intresting spin off

I must say that I have seen quite a few episodes of this show and do like it.  But if I miss an episode I don't start crying.

I don't know...I remember an episode about the gang going to see Star Wars. That was at least a couple years ago. And Star Wars came out in 1977, so if they aren't in the 80's yet, they must be awfully close.

Anyway, as for the show, I don't watch it very often. It's not bad though...much better than most other sitcoms.

i think we have here in germany (it's not on austrian tv) the third season i guess. that star wars episode (which was pretty cool) was in season two, so therefore it should be 1978 or so.
all characters are very funny....kelzo, fez, eric, donna, hide....even eric's parents are funny...red, man what a nightmare to be his son!!!
the funny thing is that noone of my friends watch this series, just me and i laugh my butt off sometimes (hahahahaha....butt falls off....try to fix it again).

I only watched the first episode shown here and wasn't that amused, perhaps I should have given it a better chance but it is on Channel 5 and the reception is lousy so I only watch stuff I really enjoy there. Another reason, I think, is that "The Grimleys" (also set in the '70s) was on ITV about that time and I found that much funnier...it is set in Dudley it has to be funny  :p

hey! i used to live near dudley!! no i'm not offended but i would naturally have thought it more dirty (in the traditionally old GRIMY way) than funny....

anyway back to the point - the show passes the time - i prefer the english version because although it is even worse, the girl i used t fancy at school is in it!

Most of my family was from the Black Country (Blackheath, not far from Dudley), several still live there and they have the accent to prove it, perhaps that is why I find Dudley funny. I certainly don't dislike that part of the country   :D
The Grimleys was better in the earlier episodes the latest series wasn't so good   :(

And his name isn't Fez or Fes...FES is just short for "Foriegn Exchange Student".   :)

I really like the show.  It's one of the funniest things on TV, IMHO.  I kinda got pissed off after Eric and Donna broke up...I identify with Eric a little too much (right down to the tall red-headed girlfriend).  I missed a bunch of 5th season because they kept showing Kansas Basketball on ESPN during that timeslot...but thinks to Kazaa, I caught back up.

OK, bumping an old topic so I don't have to start a new one about the same thing.

Next to Futurama, That 70s Show is my all time favourite TV show! Funniest thing ever!

Any other fans (3 1/2 years after this thread was last here)?

I watch it. I like it. I even recorded it the last time it was on TV (when it was on at 11am every week day...couple of years ago or something) and actually searched for the tapes and started watching them on the weekend because I was starting to miss my weeknight dose of it...The ones I have on tape start from just after Eric and Donna broke up, and his guardian angel comes to show Eric what it would be like if he'd never been Donna's boyfriend. I love Eric's reaction to him.  :laff: Yeah I just like sarcasm..
But I found it interesting because the episodes on TV currently are when Jackie wants to be with Hyde, whereas the older episodes have her all over Kelso as if she'd never leave him.  :p

I used to watch it when I was like, 16. Did they ever move into the 80s after?
