Watching this on BBC2 last night reminded me they'd made a US version - its a great show over here and was wondering if anybody had seen the US version and if it was any good

It's crap, and it's been cancelled already. Word is they'll run the last few episodes over the Summer like Fox did with Futurama. Someone correct me if I'm thinking of a different show.

I saw the first series on the BBC and found it entertaining enough  :)

i heard that the script was virtually identical, but some things were changed. like the word 'wanker' being replaced by 'masturbatibg man' to that US folks would get it. That was a while ago, i never heard about the series.

Coupling is pretty bland really. Is anyone really surprised that it was cancelled in the US?

I was surprised that it lasted as long as it did.

I believe it was cancelled after horrible reviews and only one or two aired episodes. Isn't it just another Friends rip-off, anyway?

That's exactly what I thought! How could they possibly expect a US adaption of a UK rip-off of a US sitcom to work?

Well, Friends is ending.  They were shopping around for a replacement.  I guess it seemed like a natural choice.

I remember watching a TV show about how most British sitcoms are re-made for American TV audiences. I think with Coupling they said the problem was that the British prefer jokes which take a few minutes to get (ie. they go on for a while), while Americans prefer quick-fire stuff, one-liners.

Not sure if that it right though, I doubt it applies to all.
