My dad's a big Babylon 5 fan, and I was thinking of buying him the Season 3 DVDs for Xmas.  But I've heard several complaints that some of the discs are scratched and won't play.

Has anyone here had problems with the (Region 2) discs?

I've had no problems with mine, but I can understand why they'd be scratched- the discs never stay in the bloody case! I advise shaking the box before you buy and make sure it doesn't sound like the discs are loose.

It's great stuff though, your Dad should be pleased (I know I was  :D).

Thanks for the advice, but with amazon it's difficult to get hold of the box BEFORE you buy, and the local Woolies keeps them under the counter, so the only thing I have to shake is a display case.

I always check the discs as soon as I get out of the stop, if there is something obviously wrong it is easy to take them straight back... I had a slight problem with Futurama series three at WHSmith, they hadn't put the discs in the cases  :p
