Ugh. Sonic the ^%*& HEDGEHOG? This had to be one of the most annoying pieces of crap I ever had the misfotune of accidentally catching two minutes of while flipping channels. Sonic had the voice of URKEL, for cryin' out loud. And his sidekikck the fox was even more annoying than him. The whole show brought back unpleasant Scrappy-Doo memories. Bah.

I remember the Super Maro Brothers show. Started off bad, and got worse with each new season. The only good parts were the live-action stuff with Captain Lou Albano as Mario. And those were gone pretty quickly, replaced by those two annoying surfer dudes. I hated them. Then in the 2nd season, they had the annoying Koopa Brats and that Milli Vanilli epsiode.   :puke: And then came the third season, with that irritating dinosaur. Feh.

Well there were 2 of them.  First there was the really crappy one on like UPN afternoons or something.  Then there was the cool one, that was on Saturday mornings on like CBS.

    gay anime porn.

    1. simspsons
    2. um, simpsons?

i don't really like other cartoons.  i used to like pinky and the brain. there were some other cool saturday morning cartoons, but now it's flooded with pokemon and pokemon-like shows, which pisses my off.  occasionally, i turn on the tv and see x-men: mutant acadamy.  i haven't seen a bad episode of that, even tho i've only seen a few.  it seems pretty good.  i was a lot younger when the sonic show was on, so i would watch it every weekday morning before elementry school while eating breakfast.  i never got to see the mario show tho.

i also forgot about south park which is also a cool show.  i like it more than i probably would if i got cable, which would get me comedy central.

OK, since I started the thread...

    The obvious
    Simpsons
    The Critic
    Duckman
    The Tick
    Freakazoid
South Park (though it's slipping off my radar)
    Family Guy
    Daria
    Dexter's Lab
    Johnny Bravo (the pre-Carl eps)
    PPG
    Courage, the Cowardly Dog
Ed, Edd & Eddy (for some reason, this has really grown on me lately)
    Rocko's Modern Life
Ren & Stimpy (John K era only)
Any of the Timm/Dini DC toons (Batman, Superman, Batman Beyond)
Gargoyles (possibly the best thing Disney ever did. I heard that Season 3 sucked, but I never saw it, so to me, it never happened.)

    Looking forward to:
Samurai Jack (expect a review soon)
    Justice League (Timm/Dini, can't miss)

I like Pokemon too. I can't say it's "good", but it's just so weird and goofy and japanese...I can't really explain my enjoyment of that show. It's just entertaining. However, I HATE it for inspiring all those crappy rip-off shows. Remember when cool cartoons came on? Now we just have hideous cartoons like Digimon and Card Captors and whatever the hell else is on now. And the occasional CG crap like Max Steel or Action Man.

I've seen Pokemon a couple of times, let me see if I've got it straight. Two twelve year old children and a drooling pervert who never opens his eyes wander through the wilderness looking for cities. They capture these bizaare critters and trap their souls in these little balls. These critters are forced to beat each other up for the amusement of their masters, correct? That's not very ethical to show young kids.

The health service and police force are all manned by clones. Clone police? That's dark sci-fi stuff! Sometime during the proceedings, a paramilitary terrorist group show up, consisting of a gay guy with blue hair, a bitchy woman with gravity-defying scarlet hair and a cat-critter pokemon thing that can speak English. Their mission seems to be to capture the little pecker-chew thing. Despite their array of well-drawn military hardware like tanks, rocket launchers and APCs, they attempt to fight the kid's pokemon with their crappy selection of two. They invariably lose and get launched into low orbit.

Pretty intense. But it has got a genuine charm. I can see why the kids lap it up. The kids today deserve a cool cartoon. We had it lucky. We had cool 80s cartoons like Dangermouse (Which was even MORE fucked-up, BTW).

I seem to remember another version of Sonic the Hedgehog. All I can remember is that it was extremely well drawn and was actually pretty dark in tone. Mind you, that was as I was going off cartoons. Between the ages of 12 and 15 you are not allowed to like cartoons because they're for kids. 16-21 you're allowed to like them again.

Haha, was that really him? I thought they sounded kinda similar, but was always too lazy to check the credits. What an awful cartoon. I did check out the saturday morning one for about five minutes...I'll admit that it seemed a lot less crappy than the weekday version, but I didn't care enough to keep watching.

What??? Surfer dudes? I don't remember that at all, but man that sucks! I loved those stupid/awesome live action Mario segments. Especially when they had cheesy guest stars, like Elvira or Magic Johnson or the older brother from Mr. Belvadere.

Yeah-heh. The show sucked and failed every time they tried to re-introduce it. But I think they should give it another shot. If they keep the same exaggerated Mario voice they have in the videogames, it would be a huge hit. Come on, who doesn't laugh at the goofiness of Mario and the rest? "I'm-a Luigi, number one!" It's funny.

Thoughout my life these were my most favorite:

    Family Guy
    The Simpsons
Reboot (one of the first CG shows, and the best)
    Gundam Wing
    Outlaw Star
    Spider-man (the Fox one)
    Tiny Toons
    And classic cartoon clips like:
      Bugs Bunny
      The Flintstones
      Tom and Jerry

BTW, which Mario show were you guys talking about? I pretty much assume its the first one, with the Zelda cartoon that comes every Friday. I'd say it was an alright show, and the next two that came were just on par with that one. Super Mario 3 and Super Mario World didn't make many improvements, except for the different themes the shows were in.

By the way, here's my list of favorite cartoons:

Sam & Max--not as good as the comic, but still funny as shit. You'd be surprised at some of the jokes they got away with. Also very smooth animation, and it looked exactly like the comic.

Dilbert--actually I was kinda disappointed in this one, but it was still alright. It should have lasted longer.

The Maxx--another comic adaption...it rocked several cocks. Animation was kinda cheap, but was very effective.

The Critic--cancelled...why, damn it why? It was so great. I'm glad it's got new life on the internet, but the last few episodes have been pretty weak. Where are all the old characters? I want to see a full 22 minute episode again.

I used to like all WB cartoons from a few years back like Animaniacs, Pinky & The Brain and Freakazoid, but now that I'm older they seem kinda lame. But Freak and P&TB still have their moments.

Eek The Cat--it's been a while since I've seen this, but I remember it being funny. And the voice-over cast rocked.

I also enjoy a small assortment of Cartoon Network cartoons, Jonny Bravo and Dexter, Powerpuff Girls are alright. Samurai Jack might be good, but other stuff(Courage, Ed Edd & Eddy) can get annoying.

Samurai Jack kicks several different kinds of ass. It's sort of a cross between a Kurosawa film, Blade Runner, and Gerald McBoingBoing. Weird, but it works. Interesting fact: The voice of Jack is Phil (Hermes) LaMarr.

Here in Spain there isn't many interesting cartoons... Anyway, I don't watch much TV. Simply The Obvious, The Simpsons and South Park.

I liked The Simpsons more than Futurama, but the 11th+ seasons are a little crappy... so Futurama now is the best cartoon!!!

The Simpson's climax was in the 4-8 seasons. Since then, Homer each time is dumber, the jokes are more stupid and the stories are more weird. The lastest episodes don't make me sense...

P.D.: in Spain we haven't seen the 12th season yet. How it is???
