Now that Family Guy's coming back, are they still going to have a movie? Can you provide a link to any information? I mean if they're ordering 24+ episodes, is a movie even necessary.

P.S.:

I made this post just to dance at the top of the page.

From what I hear, it's about a right wing father and his left wing daughter and an Area 51 alien and a German speaking goldfish. Lots of political humor ensues. Someone started a thread on this, and it's on page 1, go there for your new information.

Hmmm, interesting idea for a show. I'm sure everyone will fall in love with it and then FOX will cancel it after 2 years much to the anger of its fans. Sound familiar?

Ahem... one year to 18 months from Nov. 2003 would mean anywhere from this November to May 2005. Keep your pants on.

Besides, it's on the "back burner" now that the show's coming back.

I heard about that the first time I heard about the movie.

I think that it's true. The internet movie database said that it was indeed the premise.

The movie isn't going to happen.  At least, not for now.

What happened was that when talk of the show coming back was really heating up, Seth McFarlane stated that one of the ideas being tossed around was to do a movie, either theatrically or as a straight to dvd release.  He also stated that said movie (if it was a straight to dvd release) could also end up being three episodes strung together and put on dvd.

What actually happened is that afterwards Fox renewed the show itself after all, thus for the most part putting off any new movie projects.  The only similarity to McFarlane's earlier comments is that there will in fact be a three-parter within the fourth season's first 13 episodes, but there's no word yet on if this will be put on dvd as a "movie" as McFarlane suggested.  But we won't be seeing an actual movie anytime soon.  If we do at all, it will hinge on the series itself doing really well in its comeback, and Fox deciding that the show is truly popular enough to warrant the film.  But don't expect it anytime soon.

Besides, if it ever does happen, I can almost guarantee it will be terrible.

No I won't believe anything about a Futurama movie or a Family Guy movie until I see it on TV. That's right, you heard me. I only believe the television. If there's a commercial or a special exclusive than you'll see me jumping up and down and peeing on myself.

Seth McFarlene said at http://www.planet-familyguy.com/main.php?mod=article&article=seth_oct2004.php  that the 3-part ep. will be released on DVD in 2005 and shown on TV in 2006.

Well technically they couldnt because they ordered 22 new episodes.

Even if they did, FOX HQ would probably be stormed by 10,000 angry viewers(including me).

You have to keep in mind that when Family Guy's first season premiered, they aired the first eight episodes of the show, took it off the air for about four months, then aired the remaining seven. Anything can happen.

And I'd be marching to FOX right with you Nasty. You can't cancel a show twice and get away with it.

Actually, they aired the first 7 episodes of Season 1, and then they aired the remaining 8 as part of Season 2's broadcast run. Still, definately annoying when you consider that they had a full season done, and left over half the episodes unaired for that long.

Good thing that movies on hold, I'd hate it if it had a lame plot rumours such as 'Stewie discovers his Sexuality' lame. Stewie is a baby for god sake anyway. Has anyone considered he does not really care?

I thought they cancelled the show 2 times, once after the second season, but brought it back because of the outcry, then again after 3rd season?

Yes. The Family Guy film has been confirmed in a recent interview. It's a three part episode put together.... and it'll be realeased on DVD Summer 2005.
The show is back at the EARLIEST of March 2005... or wven May. The BBC have got their hands on both American Dad Season One and Family Guy season Four. There's a best of dvd called the "Freakin' Sweet Collection", that I've explain before, that has more commmentaries and even a couple by Stewie and Brian... aswell as featurettes:

Get ready for five deliciously absurd chapters in the lives of America's most twisted animated family! These are the hand-picked, hands-down favorite episodes of Seth MacFarlane, the delightfully demented genius behind "Family Guy". He'll also treat you to an inside look at the long-awaited return of the series, as well as his newest TV brainchild, "American Dad." What a guy. What a family. What a "Family Guy" treat!

"When You Wish Upon a Weinstein"

"Road to Rhode Island" with optional Commentary by Brian and Stewie

"To Love and Die in Dixie" with optional Commentary by Seth MacFarlane, Dan Palladino, Steve Callaghan, Danny Smith, Mike Henry

"I Am Peter, Hear Me Roar" with optional commentary by Seth MacFarlane, Chris Sheridan, Alex Borstein and Craig Hoffman

"Lethal Weapons" with optional commentary by Seth MacFarlane, Chris Sheridan, Garret Donavan and Steve Callaghan

Bonus Material:

Preview of American Dad
Seth MacFarlane talks about American Dad
Seth MacFarlane talks about Family Guy Season 4

There... I know I went on about stuff that had nothing much to do with the film....

Edit Found the cover to the NEW DVD also:

I'll buy it.  Thanks for the info Lee Roberts.

Now, back to business, I don't think Stewie finding out he's gay is a bad thing.  Yes he's a baby, but he also build device to take over the world, and he has a british accent!  I think it would make a good couple of episodes, but not the main point of a movie.  Although i'd like the movie to be released, and have curse words un-edited of course.  Victory Shall Be Mine!

But seriously, I would take it to the streets like Al Bundy did in the episode where they tried to raise beer tax by 2 cents.

Hmmm....

The late Chris Farley would've been a perfect Peter Griffin. With him gone, though, I'd go with John Goodman.

Cameron Diaz would be a good Lois, I guess...

The girl who plays Joan on "Joan of Arcadia" as Meg. She can really nail that depressed, whiny act.

The fat kid from "Drake & Josh" as Chris.

Stewie and Brian would be CGI, voiced by Seth.

You mean Amber Tamblyn.  Yeah, she would be a good Meg.  In case you didn't know, Amber Tamblyn's father is Russ Tamblyn.  He was in West Side Story.

Since the movie's been released, pretty much all comments on it have gone in the current Family Guy thread here. This thread serves no purpose now, it was just pre-discussion... hell, it was made before Season 4 even began.
