What's your favorite Jack Black movie out of the ones that I could fit in above.

I really enjoyed High Fidelity, so I'll vote for that.

Don't remember him being in Waterworld though. I'm guessing he plays the same character he did in all those other films.

Saving Silverman.  Not a bad movie, and I really liked Amanda Peet in it as well.  Jack and R. Lee Ermey's stuff is great at the end.

High Fidelity.  JB ruled that movie like The Colonel rules so many buckets of chicken.  (I don't remember where I heard that quote, but it's my favourite to describe JB in High Fidelity.)

I love both High Fidelity and School of Rock, it's hard for me to choose, but seeing as how School of Rock has no votes I'll go ahead and give that one my vote.

Ok the wittfully physical comic genius of the "Black,Jack".... well he's unmatched ever since the passing of the great one....(moment of silence) the late great Chris Farrely. Saving Silverman was possibly his best work because it was purely physical.... Shallow Hal made me cry and weap like a school-girl with a skinned knee, during that scene with the burned kid Cadence.... It really made me think.... I saw the School Of Rock the day it came out and I was SERIOUSLY touched because all the children actually played thier insturments and sang all thier songs and Jacks acting was at the top of the class for his kind of actor... BAR NONE....It seriously touched me because well it was purely funny and he gave zepplin as homework for christs sakes, and didn't just practice with the band,he tought rock history and theology and after a while the drummer started to get into hard punk and they started discussing bands like "The White Stripes" it hit the stone in my chest cavity that used to be a heart.... he made the kids feel like people I knew and used to be... it really was a well done film.... Saving Silverman was my favorite Jack Black movie because of the physical aspects.... High Fidelity he stole the scene abso-fucking-lutely.... Orange County had that flapping legs-jump into the pool scene and is one of the most underated films of all time, but in the end I'm going to hit Saving Silverman because of the sure hilarity of his physical work.

Oh and btw Mars Attacks was an all-star movie that didn't want to be a crap film that turned into my all time favorite camp film right behind the Evil Dead Trilogy.....And yes he was in Waterworld.... I watched it again and he was the pilot.

I saw the double post first!  You can't rat it out now because I saw it first and I win!

*cricket*  Um, yeah.  Anyway...

I haven't seen a lot of well-known movies in my lifetime.  But one time we had HBO and Saving Silverman was on.  It made me laugh so that milk came out of my nose.
The burned girl from Shallow Hal was really sad, too, I think.  And I enjoyed the movie to some extent, being a girl and all.  :p

He was the over zealous soldier who got toasted in the first 5 mins in the fight.

By the way, was that sexy Marsian babe done with CG or was it an actress with a freakish barbie-doll body?

It was actress Lisa Marie, Tim Burton's then-girlfriend.  They had a choreographer come in to teach her how to walk, and each day she was sewn into her dress.  I was going to dress up as the Martian spy girl for Halloween, but I think I'm going to save that idea for my birthday costume party.  :)

The only Jack Black movies that I have seen are The Cable Guy, Shallow Hal and Mars Attacks I didn’t know he was in Mars Attacks and it was a long time that I seen it. I am going to vote for Shallow Hal because it was a pretty good movie.

I want to see School of Rock. It looks good and I believe that this is one of the best he made.

Fucking hell three post altogether from TheLastGreatDon  :nono:

He never played Extra. He always had speaking roles, and relatively small parts. Case in point: Mars attacks.

Im kinda not in love with any of those. I suppose Cable guy, Waterworld and mars attacks were alright  :D

I can't believe I missed this thread.

High Fidelity is one of the best JB performances, especially that he sings "Let's Get It On" at the end.  I'd always hoped that Barry's character in the book would be played by someone great in the movie, and they couldn't have done better. IMO.

No.  In a world of overrated actors, Black is especially overrated.  But people who realize the truth about him might like The Jackal, in which he plays a guy who gets his arm blown off by a huge machine gun.
