This thread is dedicated to non-lead actors. You know, the ones who only play minor characters but seem to crop up in tons of films/TV programmes (usually with cries of 'Where have I seen him/her before?'). A lot of them seem to have way more talent than most lead actors do, and still get paid less and have less recognition for their work. So,post about your favorites here. Or don't. I don't care   :p

This idea came to me while playing Myst 3, as I knew I'd seen Brad Dourif somewhere before. In fact, he's played characters in all sorts of sci-fi shows and films, including Star Trek: Voyager, Babylon 5 and Alien:Ressurection. He's normally a psycopath or something, but he's great in all the roles he plays (especially as Brother Theo in Babylon 5) and he's had quite few and in some pretty big films too. Most people will know him as Grima Wormtongue in 'Lord of the Rings' though.

How about Lauren Tom?  She's mostly known for voice acting, but she's done her share of live action stuff as well.

Recently she was in an episode of Monk, and of course who could forget her appearance on Friends, as the girl Ross dumped so he could date Rachel?

My favorite Lauren Tom character was the one she played on Homicide: Life on the Street.  She and Bayliss had sex in a coffoon.

"What's a coffoon?"

"I don't know.  When Felton told me he was laughing so hard that he couldn't get the words out."

Don't forget Paul Giamatti!  He's been in a bunch of movies, but no one can really place him.  He's an 'I'll-know-him-when-I-see-him' kinda guy.  He was Bob Zmuda in Man on the Moon, Kenny 'Pig Vomit' Rushton in Private Parts, the slave-trader ape in the 2001 Planet of the Apes, and the sleazy Hollywood exec in Big Fat Liar.  And, of course, his current role is Harvey Pekar in American Splendor.

Yeah she was the decoy Queen, whenever both Queens were on screen one was Natalie Portman and one was Keira Knightley.

Another supporting actor you're bound to have seen is Xander Berkeley. He pops up in small roles in Heat, LA Takedown, The Rock, Gattaca, T2, Air Force One, Apollo 13 and so on. Usually playing the slightly wimpy/science guy.

Or you may know him from playing George Mason (sniff) on 24.

Of course, who can forget Phillip Seymour Hoffman? He is the guy you see in every movie.

What about Erick Avari?  To date I've seen him in Star Trek: TNG, Deep Space Nine, Enterprise, Babylon 5, Cheers, Stargate SG1, Seinfeld, Roseanne...

How bout' Steve Buscemi? He's in a lot of Adam Sandler movies. I've never seen him get a lead role, yet he's been acting for years.

There's John C. Reilly.  Recently famous for playing "Amos" in Chicago.

Slurm Guy: You should see "Ghost World", Buscemi is great in that and he's got a lead role.... well maybe more like half-lead...
Well it's a wonderful movie, anyhow. The comic it's based on is also worth checking out.

I really like him, but I keep getting him confused with J.K. Simmons (who played Ted in The Mexican & JJ in Spider-man, among others).
