Anyone want to see a Brave trailer? Excuse me while I prematurely do a happy dance. Jaw-dropping visuals with this one man. It's gonna visually blow everything out of the ballpark.

Toy Story was not planned to be past a third movie. They aren't going to stop making things with the characters, rather they're making "Toy Story Toons" which are short films. There's one before Cars 2 and there might be another before Muppets this November. Until it's officially announced, lets not take the interwebz too srsly.

No. There is no way another Toy Story would work, be good, or is even possible.

Also, I'm tired of Pixar taking the easy way out with sequels. They need another good original movie....haven't had one of those since Up or Wall-E

No. There is no way another Toy Story would work, be good, or is even possible.

I take issue with that last part. It's perfectly possible. Consider that we've only followed one group of toys so far, from their first owner to their second. There are other toys out there, and the second owner of "our" toys has her own games to play and her own stories to live through.

I'd love to see a Toy Story focusing on somebody else's toys, a whole new set. They might have their own Buzz Lightyear, who developed along a completely different route once he realised he wasn't actually a space ranger. They could have toys we've not seen in the franchise before, and perhaps we'd be treated to a cameo from more of the little three-eyed pizza planet aliens. There could be all manner of things to come from the Toy Story franchise, and with the success of TS3, I'd not be surprised to see TS8 or TS9 in a few years time.

Maybe if you posted it boldly and with key word "Brave" and "trailer" instead of linking it in a random sentence I wouldn't repost it. It doesn't matter anyways. We're discussing Pixar films, and that's all that truly matters. Besides, I'm an old-timer here. Respect your elders boy! Some of us get senile.

Back on the Toy Story topic I heard from someone that AOL was abuzz earlier with more Toy Story 4 speculation. Either the internet is running rampant with a huge lie or it really might happen. Personally I think they're merely fantasizing. I'm still sticking with my thoughts on the matter: Lee Unkrich said personally that TS4 wasn't in the works, was not planned. They would have to have a wonderful storyline to continue the franchise as a feature film. John Lasseter wants to keep the toys around, and is doing so with short films. I do not think they will go past short films any time soon if at all. If they do, it better be one hell of a film because they've set the bar super high and anything less than equal to or above that bar will fall victim to what could possibly be the first real negative outing for the company. Critics are possibly going to drive TS4 into the ground if it gets made and isn't rainbows and unicorns. Call this a radical statement but TS4 could sink the unsinkable ship that is Pixar or tarnish their record at least. And does Pixar really want to be compared to DreamWorks? I hope not.

Indeed. Brave looks absolutely beautiful. So beautiful that part of me is hoping that the lack of dialogue from the trailer is because the film has a lack of it as well. It worked fantastically with WALL-E and Up...

In this instance I have to agree with DannyJC13, this was not his error and he shouldn’t be blamed unfairly. That’s not to say Professor Zoidy should be blamed for making a mistake, these things happen, but DannyJC13 made no mistake in this instance and I like to see justice rather than hollow blame...

Of course, who else to blame?

That guy... Zoidy...

I would always recommend that before you ever refer to another member of this board by gender, that you check their gender first because you’ve done this with another member recently as well. If for some strange reason it isn’t displayed, then it’s safer to refer to members either by username, or "they", or "them", although any gender neutral alternative would be fine to prevent such accidents in future. Just a friendly tip...

This does sound interesting, but is it worth paying the admission for Cars 2 to see?...

I'm certain the short film will be bootlegged horribly and put up on YouTube if it isn't already. If you feel like looking it up that is.

@Danny: Yes, it's my error for not seeing it. But at least it was re-linked on a new page and not right under your post, right? :laff: I wasn't necessarily blaming you so much as taking a jab at myself for not seeing it/attempting a bit of sarcasm. It just happened to form itself into a poorly executed finger pointing statement of failure when you read it. I do that sometimes, so in the future don't take much offense to my harsh words. They're usually meant as non-genuine anger.  :) Yes I'm a girl and I always have wondered why the gender symbols weren't redone for the new PEEL. Don't feel too bad not knowing I'm a girl though; some folks here missed that even when we had gender symbols (and it wasn't just me that got mistaken for being male).  :nono:

On-topic: Xanfor, you've found some wonderful concepts. I hope that poster overall reflects the final one. It just has this magical sense about it, screams "this will be an exciting journey" and doesn't use the DreamWorks face (look that up, it's pretty funny). In fact, I really like how she doesn't face us at all. It adds to the mystery and wonder I think. I'm kinda glad the film's title changed (from Bear and the Bow to Brave). Personally I think the single word title fits better, seems more memorable.

Depends on how much you want to see the movie. I liked Cars 2, but like I said here, even me being a big fan of the first movie didn't like the sequel that much. The Spy/Espionage theme is great, the story about Mater is too much, I love his character but not enough to see a whole movie about him. I wanted to see much more Lightening McQueen, I don't care if he's been 'developed' as my boyfriend put it, he was a good character. I mean if they can develop Woody and Buzz for three movies there's no reason McQueen can't be more developed.

Sorry what was the question? The short at the beginning, right, no it's not worth it. It's a mean trick Pixar pulled on us, 'oh hey here are characters from a movie that we know you would totally rather be watching, but fuck you because you only get 5 minutes with them'.

I would much rather see them tease us than release ten more feature films. They can troll me with "Toy Story Toons" as they call it from now on as far as I'm concerned. As for Lightning, I'd have to agree. I haven't gotten around to seeing Cars 2 yet but I would've liked seeing him as this double-shift kinda character if we're sticking with the spy theme. McQueen I could see being a sort of cocky Bond type or something not unlike Speed Racer in the sense he races and solves world crimes/stops baddies.

I love Pixar, but I am sick of the new sequels. Is Up really the last original they've done? Didn't that come out two years ago? Anyways, Up is good, Bug's Life is good, Cars is good, Nemo is good - screw this, every single one of those movies up there except the Toy Story sequels are good. I haven't seen Cars 2 yet but my little sister liked it.

I voted for Wall-E just because it was absolutely incredible. I really liked Incredibles, though (oops, unintentional really lame pun thing), and I can't believe no one voted for Nemo.

What's so bad about the Toy Story sequels? They had very good stories and character development and great new characters too.

And yes, the last non-sequel was Up in 2009, the next is Brave in 2012.

This will be going in the gaming thead too, but it is Pixar related, it's about LittleBigPlanet 2:

The next releases to mark on your calendars soon will be the Toy Story packs that were unveiled at E3 this year. With THREE new costume packs, containing all of your favourite characters, plus a level pack containing brand new Toy Story themed levels to play through, these packs are sure to keep you entertained until the release of the Move pack at the end of the summer. Stay tuned for more details (and pics!) soon.

I have the Alien costume from the Collector's Editon. :D

I've only seen each of them once, in theaters, and it's been a long time since I saw Toy Story 2, so I should probably give that one a chance again. I just thought 3 was mediocre. There was nothing super wrong with it or anything. Nostalgia goggles, I guess.

I am now looking forward to Brave.

Got ya there soylentO. Good to see you posting again BTW. ;)

So I saw Cars 2 and if you guys want to see some beautiful locations, numerous explosions and brutal dark scenes involving killing (not to mention hearing the words "kill" and "death" and "die" a lot in a kids film), I'd give it a go. It's by no means Pixar's masterpiece (that's arguably TS1) but it's still a fun enough romp to recommend seeing at least once, if only for the kick-ass spy parts.

@Spira: Don't let the haters cause you to doubt this one. It's a pretty damn fun and violent movie. It's everything you want out of a spy-themed film but with Cars characters in the roles instead of real actors. I'll also mention Finn McMissle is A BAMF and deserves his own short cartoon at some point. If you love the Bond films or books, you'll love Finn as well.

@Danny: Just give it a go! *prods* The trailers give this one a different feeling than what it actually has. It's not mindless action, isn't always about the comedy. If you end up hating it you won't ever have to see it again (probably).

I think we all judge films by trailers and I say they are inaccurate to use. Trailers to me come in two varieties usually: on one hand they're made to make the film so awesome and use the best scenes only to lead to utter disappointment OR they throw you the shittiest scenes/scenes that make no sense out of context and we think the film will blow and it ends up being quite good. Not saying all films fit the mold but in general that is how I see trailers.
