I don't know, I think I was slightly underwhelmed by the episode I guess it wasn't quite so much the story but just how quickly it lept from one element to another with no development, nothing inbetween (though the development of the Doctor's character was there and nice and I liked how Donna figured out the numbers). But otherwise it just seemed to be: Where are we - oh, have a daughter - oh where's Martha going? - oh this map's too small, oh look it gets bigger - oh look, we're off to war and you're off to jail, etc etc.
I did think that Jenny's "death" scene was powerful, but sadly I saw it coming. I also thought the Hash drowning saving Martha was powerful, possibly more so, but his death seemed to serve no purpose to the plot, except perhaps to show a sympathetic side to the Hash and maybe to remind Martha that she really didn't want to do this kind of stuff anymore. Maybe I've just answered myself there but, oh well. Anyho, I was thinking Jenny regenerating in the Doctor's arms would have been an amazingly powerful moment, to tie in with the whole thing of her being a second Time Lord, but oh well. That said, keeping it the same actress is cool given the fact that she's the daughter of Peter Davison.

My mother told me never to swear. That being said... Bloody brilliant! I didn't have high expectations in the first place, but blimey! Now I can never show my face on the Doctor Who forums again... Originally posted by ShepherdofShark: I have one problem with the script:
Rose is the only person who has ever seen a regeneration in the new series. Why does Martha seem know what to look for? Martha worked for UNIT, I assumed she'd seen the the Time Lord files. Also, I don't recall it ever being stated that Jenny was in fact a Time Lady. It could be that she was just a Gallifreyian (not having gone to the Acadamy,) which is why she couldn't regenerate. They kept all this ambiguous though, I am so profoundly grateful.
I thought this episode moved kinda fast, but for me that was all reconciled by the revelation of how the war had come to its present state in the first place. That, my friends, is a classic Who twist ending. I loved it. Now I can anticipate the rest of this series in peace. ( Edited because giddy morons can't spell 'peace' correctly...)

I really liked the generational war that had lasted only seven days. The episode overall meandered between good (after the jail scene I could buy into the idea that this clone really was the Doctor's daughter) and underwhelming: The Doctor's "I never would" left me wondering if he would have shot whatshisname if it was Susan or someone who had been killed. Tonight's looks good.

Blimey, that was wonderful. I love that they're keeping up with the show's diversity in styles. " MAIDEN!- Sorry..."

Is that a picture of RTD's reaction when he learned he'd be stepping down? I'm liking the sound of this. Let's see, what Doctor Who has Moffat written? The Empty Child, The Doctor Dances, The Girl in the Fireplace, and Blink. Oh, and The Curse of Fatal Death. This is going to be more than interesting, this is going to be spectacular. I wonder what Moffat's idea of a series story arc is...

This episode disturbed me. Anywho, a two-parter. I should never comment on two-parters until they're complete. I think River Song is a baddie.

I thought it was quite pedestrian for a Moffat episode. Then again, The Empty Child was quite boring and look what happened in The Doctor Dances! I love how he includes little nods to fans in episodes, like last year when someone said the windows in the TARDIS were too small. I'm sure River Song will die next week, based on the Ood's cryptic "Your song will end soon". It would make sense for the first time the Doctor meets her to be the last time she sees him. The little girl reminds me of the little girl in Fear Her, what with all of her drawings. Looking forward to next week.

I thought it was one of the scariest ones since Doctor Who has came back. I think Doctor who is at its best when its scary. I loved the episode. Though i still like the old doctor who better, especially Tom Baker he was great and made it his own, unfortunately no one has been able to step into the shoes of the great one. This series has been an improovement on the last series though! Hopefully they dont bring the Daleks back again, the Daleks rule but you dont want to ruin it by overusing them! I've also just found a video i Haven't seen in ages where Tom Baker is the doctor, the episode is called "the assasin" and its got described on the back *the doctor has been framed with assasinating the president of the time lords!* If that doesnt salivate you what will haha

One of the only stories without a companion. I enjoyed the secondary console room though. All it needed was a large spiral staircase going up the sides... Anyways, there was something I wanted to mention in this mid-two-parter lull. This webpage right here hasn't changed since the broadcast of Bad Wolf, except for a small little "Update" on the very bottom added after The Parting of the Ways. You'd think that's the end, right? Wrong! There is something wrong with it. Something very drastically wrong. I thought it was a typo, but now I think its a clue. A big clue. Something right in front of our screens since 2005 and we've dismissed it utterly...

Though it is interesting that there are still "clues" out there.

So concluding from that video do you think the Daleks could have anything to do with the darkness? They always seem to be able to manipulate some species, the Daleks

Opinions/Interpretations We clearly have a clever bit of time play here and there's no escaping the fact that this episode has far too many hints to the idea that River Song is Rose/descendant of Rose for that to be actually true. To be honest I really don't have any idea what's going to happen next. Great isn't it? Fantastic episode. Additional: And this is where the story really starts.

Dam what a great episode. The doctor said "theres only one reason i would say my name" "theres only one time i could" or said something on the lines of that, theres only one time he could... now if your thinking what im thinking...? I also remember the Ood saying something like "your name burns in the stars" to the doctor.

When I get to heaven, after the introduction ceremony and a brief pause to get Jesus' autograph... The first thing I am going to do is walk over to Russell T. Davies and shake his hand, punch him in the stomach, and step on his face on the way to give Steven Moffat a big hug.
I love 'everybody lives' stories.
