I forgot about that one!  I only saw one film worse then that in 2002... The Hot Chick.  (Yes, I admit I went to see them both, but on someone else's money.)

@evan: I read that Onion interview with Bakshi too, and aside from the fact that he was full of himself, he seemed like a decent guy.  That's what caused me to edit.  Well, that and apparently the new Mighty Mouse cartoons he supervised in the late 80s were very cool.

EDIT: TOTPD!

I thought Sectret of NIMH was okay, although it holds the world record for the most glow effects in a movie. The Hobbit was sort of charming too, and had that great song.
My least favorite is probably Disney's Pocahontas, basically Poca lectures John Smith for 90 minutes about how much European settlers suck. Not that they didn't, but if the American Indians were so much better, why were they living in mud huts when the Europeans arrived?
Worst... movie... ever!

John Smith is not arrogant or greedy. He's not from my nation, that's for certain. It's only good because Billy Conolly voice stars as one of the sailors.

If you mean the coda, I totally understand; why couldn't they just leave us with memories of the Iron Giant making the ultimate sacrifice? Making it so he lived (a nuclear explosion, mind you) cheapens his sacrifice.

Now, if you're talking about the tear-jerking part of the end, I would like to introduce your face to a friend of mine. Name's Club. Rusty Club.

Either way, it's still my most favoritest animated movie of all time.

I agree with all of youse guys. The Disney straight-to-video sequels suck major portions of ass, and disgrace the originals. And the movies they don't disgrace, they make series out of, like Tarzan and the soon-to-come Lilo and Stitch. I heard recently that they're going to make a Mulan II. When will it end?

There's actually a petition by "hardcore" Disney fans, because of the rumoured "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" sequel.

Basically Disney has found that taking existing characters, putting them in a "new" storyline with cheap TV quality animation etc, means they can make a whole load of cash for very little work.

Ironically, what I consider one of the best sequels (to any film, not just animated) of all time, Toy Story 2, was initially a direct-to-video cheap sequel.

Urusei Yatsura is actually a classic Manga and TV series done by the same Woman who did Ranma and Inu Yasha, started the whole magic girlfriend genre. Saw some of the TV series, was funny but dated. Lots and Lots of characters. There are a bunch of movies, I hear some are horrible...

I heard the DtV Stich movie wasn't that bad... But all the other ones are just crimes against humanity. Lots of bad anime movies and OAVs out there... sometimes the movies are completly different in tone then the origanal series (Nadesico) sometimes you have movies that expect you to read the entire Manga and Novels, hard to do in America (Kenshin OAV 2, Nadesico again) and some are just plain bad (MD Geist)

I agree with Musca, A few of the Uresei Movies were horrible, but there was a classic or two among them.

Pretty sure that's Demon City Shinjuku.
You're missing nothing.

Also By the way for the one individual who knocked it, Secret of Nimh rules.  Just my opinion, but hey, any movie that has me saying 'No!  Don't kill Will Wheton or Shannon Dougerty.' HAS to be damn good.

I dreamt a long time ago that they'd do that, only Lauren Tom was going to be Mulan. I think it was a dream, it seemed quite real. Well, it's quasi-real now.

He, heh.  I forgot about Pocahontas!  It is an awful movie.  It's so boring, and so slow.  Not to mention that the movie is completely politically correct.  And that's why it's boring.  Also, Pocahontas looks like either a Barbie or a whore.  Also, what's the deal with the talking tree?  Gee whiz!

Also, I don't understand why some people were ripping on Bambi on the first page.  Then again, I'm a sucker for any movie with animals.

Heh, heh.  Just wanted to let you know that this made me laugh out loud  :laff:.  Anyway, another movie I really hate is The Fox and the Hound.  I just find the movie to be really boring.  I read the book that the movie's based on, and it's a really dark, violent book.  Believe me, it's not the happy cute animal friendship story that Disney made it into.

That is brilliant! I never thought it was possible to distinguish between the two but...  :laff:

But anyway, I'm with Matt Groening about the whole Christmas shows thing (on the ATO2S DVD commentary, he mentioned how most Christmas specials sucked) and the worst animated film I ever saw was probably Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer.
Stiff, predictable dialogue from the likes of Whoopi Goldberg and Bob Newhart along with bland, uninspiring animation make it the feature-length Christmas equivalent of those animated Bible-stories you used to get on ITV on a Sunday morning.

Jeff! 8 Crazy Nights is the cartoon based on a song that us Jewish adults have been waiting for.

Also all Nick. movies and those Amblin Entertainment cartoons and Don Bluth crap. I hate that guy.

I saw the Pocahontas Sequel... The kids I was babysitting at the time just got it and they wanted to watch this.
I blocked a good 95% of it out of my memory. I remember telling the kids what happened to the real Pocahontas.

I think you can forgive Little Nemo it was a comic from the 1910's. They don't age to well.

I'm almost too embarassed to say this, but I've seen the Pocahontas sequel twice.  And you know what's really funny?  Towards the end of the credits of the sequel, there's a disclaimer, saying that the movie is historically inacurate, and that you should go down to your local library to find out the real story of Pocahontas.  At least Disney was willing to admit it.

I find it hard to look past the history of the company for one thing. Than when I do manage to look past that and do rent a Disney movie it's some cutesy cliched movie with an already overused moral and if it's not that, than it's a movie based on a book that was ten-times better than the movie. The animation's good, there's no denying that, but I just don't see what sets Disney apart from the other cartoon studios, except for loads of money, tons of merchandise, and three or four theme parks (I'm counting Euro-Disneyland).

Pocahontas was bad. Hunchback of Notre Dame was a little better, but still bad. For starters, Disney took too many serious and gloomy undertones with this movie. I know they wanted to put jokes for adults but it totally phased out the kids. That's why Hercules was done the way it was; to counter the rep they've been getting and go back to cool, wacky humor.
