I was wondering when that was gonna come out. I'm not gonna buy it though. I'm waiting for Seasons 6, 7 and 8, I wish they'd hurry up!

Isn't it Fox Home Entertainment that makes the actual DVD sets though?

Originally posted by Shadowstar: And also, I'm gonna collect all the sets, but not those crappy holiday-themed DVDs that have only 4 eps. They only released them because people are getting tired of waiting for the season sets. One could argue, those themed DVD's are also a factor in the Season sets delay.

The "themed" individual dvds don't have anything to do with the delays of the season sets (I still hate them though, as I think they're cheap and an insult to the fans). Why they're being delayed so much though, I'm not sure. Sometimes the commentaries have been given as an excuse, even by people like Al Jean and Matt Groening, since many of the people on them have to be specifically brought in and the others are busy working on the show. But I KNOW that's not the reason for the season two delays (those commentaries were finished before season one came out), and season three is also iffy (those were recorded last winter). My personal guess is syndication; Fox makes so much money daily on syndication of these episodes, they probably feel a little threatened by their own success of these dvds. In other words, if too many people buy them and stop watching the reruns, they make a lot less money in the long run.
Anyways, I think the quality of the Futurama and Simpsons dvds are roughly even. Futurama probably pulls in the lead (and admittingly, the lack of deleted Simpsons scenes is nearly unacceptable, though its possible some may have been lost given the age of the episodes). But ultimately, they're about even. I actually like the Simpsons commentaries better too, since Futurama Volume two in particular is rarely informative in terms of commentary (they're often hilarious to listen to, but they rarely even talk about the episodes it seems). I also disagree about them not being friends...in the Simpsons commentaries they seem to be very buddy buddy and make jokes with each other in much the same fashion. In fact, many of the people on the commentaries are still involved with the show, and those that aren't worked on it long enough to forge friendships.

I'm not even fractionally hyped up about it as I was to Futurama. I'm not so hyped up about The Simpsons either. I'll always have good memories of the decent seasons, and I love the show. But I'm not really looking foward to it's releases on DVD that much. It's more of "Ah, that's nice" when they come out, and they come out when they come out.

I bought the Halloween DVD, too bad its only 4 of them.
The only Simpsons set I would be interested in would be a set with every halloween ep on it, as these days these are the only enjoyabe eps left

Also, I got that comp of 4 Halloween eps, it's neat. I don't really like buying the comps though because I know they're rip-offs. I would really love to get a comp with 'Trilogy of Error' on it though, as it's one of my very fave eps, and I don't want to waste my money on a Season 12 set just to get it.

The world loves ripping people off, but I think as far as the comps go, it's pretty good value and tidy's us over until more of the seasons come out. As for 'THoH XII', although not as good as the others, apart from the Leprechaun stuff, I liked it.

For the record I think THOH XII was okay...but unfortunately "okay" was about as good as you could get during the Scully era (the first Scully episode, "The Cartridge Family", is the only one that wasn't flawed in some way). I just don't think its worth BUYING. There are lots of great television programs I've seen, but that I wouldn't buy. Bottom line is that for half the price of the first season set (all the episodes in that season are better then THOH XII, even "Homer's Odyssey" ), or even half the price of the 22 episode season two set (again, all of them are better), that comp is one lousy stinkin' rip off.
Hell, they didn't even pick the best ones other then that. THOH V is great, but the others, other then maybe THOH III, were pretty much average at best.
