I wouldn't recommend trying this.  It tends to piss off the other kids on your team, and the more you do it, the more pissed off they become.

I know that.. I play mosts sports that way. (Basket, volley, soccer, tennis. But -strangely enough- NOT football, rugby and badminton)...
The one who mentioned going for it with a Dria type- hear, hear!!
Just like Diane Snyder (played by Ginnifer Goodwin) on NBC's "Ed"
(which I just created a topic about... the show, not Ginny- though I'd love to discuss her some more. Is it possible to fall in love with someone through the TV screen?)

There are about 6 or so Episode VHS Videos going around, with the 'Is it college yet?' video aswell. Theres no VCDs of Daria for release that i've heard, unless its bootlegged or an illegal copy. Even then, its hard to find  :p.

There is a petition for the release of the Daria DVD (which would be quite good). I think this is it, DVDaria.

I knew a guy in school who, when we played rounders outdoors and someone hit the ball a long way, he would simply walk after it, almost painfully slowly and then when he finally got the ball he would throw it all the way back to the pitch. After the guy who hit the ball had run a rounder of course.

 It was funny.  :laff:

I really dislike the way that Noggin edits Daria.  It's really inconsistent.  I mean, sometimes they bleep out "damn" and other times they don't.  What's up with that?  Sometimes scenes are cut out, and for the life of me, I can't fathom why.

Because they're too busy skull-f***ing you with commercials for that Degrasi crap. Those commercials go on for HOURS and HOURS and HOURS and HOURS.

The worst part is that those aren't even real commercials.  All they have are ads for other shows on the same channel, and station identification.  They don't get paid for those.  It's one thing to edit for time if you're selling extra ad space, but if you're not making any money of off it, then it's just asinine.

They probably have a 'damn' quota or something. They can use it but only so many times.
Also, I swear that the word "bastard" was used in at least one episode. Anyone?

EXACTLY. What the HELL is the point? A 4 hour long ad for a TV show does NOT compell me to watch it. It's like when you watch a movie preview and it shows the whole movie, so why the hell watch it? That new movie with George Clooney in it has a preview like that. I forget what it's called.

Not only does an ad that long not compell me to watch something, it compells me to find something else on TV and quit watching the show on that channel.

How does Noggin make any money without real commercials, anyway? I don't pay extra for that pile of trash. If they're independently funded it must be as a method of torture just sitting there for public use.

2x post. Inevitable.

*bump*

Ok, David A & I were discussing whether or not if Quinn is shallow.

To add to my other post regarding this; If you've seen the episode 'Fat Like Me', you would see Quinn & The Fashion Club falling apart from Sandi's accident (which led her having a broken leg & gain some weight).

Quinn is very much her true self in this episode. Showing she is truly reliant on The Fashion Club and their own little rules they've created (Weight restrictions, eye-lash length etc). It was great to see Quinn show her uneasy/confused side - as you might know, she was somewhat more shy than Daria before entering school for the first time. She grew out of it as soon as she found some friends, and there on she climbed the social ladder to be as popular (and confident) she is now. As the episode closes to the end, Quinn helps Sandi out of complete friendship to help her get thin again (Sandi resigned from the Fashion Club as their weight restrictions applied - and "accidently" resigned Quinn aswell). This shows Quinn at her best - helping out a friend in need.

Though Quinn is obsessed with looks, social matters, Fashion Club, dating etc - she is also compassionate & tries her best to let everyone like her (even her cousin sister, Daria). In my opinion, Quinn can be shallow at times but that is just a social mask she hides behind.

Daria was easily one of the best animated shows on TV. I haven't seen many of the episodes for ages, bar the first three episodes. And the pilot episode.
I can really remember this:
Guy: Where have you been all our lives?
Daria: Waiting here for you. We were born in this room, we grew up in this room, and we thought we were going to die, alone. But now you're here.
Guy 2: She likes you!

Daria was a great show. Whenever I watch it on Noggin I can always remember the little parts of episodes that they cut out and it makes me so angry, cause alot of those parts were really funny.  Thats why we need Daria DVDS, you could always download the episodes or get them off Ebay or  you can always go the TvShowsondvd.com, route and just sign up(it's free by the way) and vote for "Daria" there.

Daria: And now, Sarcastithon 3000 pays a visit. To the Dark Side. Join us, as we journey, deep into the woods...

Jane: To knock upon the forbidding door of a dank gloomy cottage purched on the edge of a black fetid lake,

Daria: a cottage smelling faintly but unmistakably, of death.

Jane: We knock.

Daria: The door creaks slowly open...

Jane: Hello! Would you like to buy a subscription to tv guide so the junior chourus can visit Disneyworld?

Daria: You really are a mood killer. Aren't you?

I'd like to add the following to this thread: Daria is my all time favourite show. Ever.
Favourite quote: "A herd of beautiful wild ponies running free across the plains" because it is the first we really see of her spiteful attitude.

Dude, I said we were 'discussing' - I never thought we were arguing   :hmpf: I just added that because I like to talk about Daria and the social-issues it arises.

Well, maybe "arguing" was too strong a word.  What I meant was that you seemed to disagree with some of the things that I had said about Quinn.  However, reading your post in this thread, it seems that you and I have pretty similar opinions.

Ah... didn't notice this thread before  :hmpf: . And I don't have much to say, except that Daria was an awesome show. It's funny, it seems that many of my favourite shows are animated, for some reason. Well, 4 of them.  :p

And Daria is my Goddess.
