That is awesome cover art!

Quoted again, I don't like it being a BOTP:

There is a cast-iron reason that Spaced is not being released in the US.  Due to licensing laws in the US, Spaced's music will have to be re-dubbed with different music (some bastardised versions of some of the original material they got for some of the references, specifically the Star Wars music by John Williams).

Obviously, Simon and Edgar know this, and refuse to hack their own series, as it will render some of the jokes redundant.

EDIT: This didn't stop them doing their own version of the Ewok Celebration Theme in S1 (sung by Simon and Edgar) - for Tim and Brian's cultural exchange.

'3 Star Wars movies later'

That cover art is flippin' brilliant! I must get the 3 disc edition now.

In regards to Spaced in the USA, I think the descision that Edgar + Simon made is the right one. We all know what happens when Americans change classic british comedies.....

Yeah, they'll add a laughter track.

I'm still hoping that Shaun will be a success, and the need for Spaced over the pond will come around, it's certainly not getting the audience it deserves.

Well, I'm back from holiday now, I'll try and do some more of that script for you Melll.

Also, on the plane (which was playing SOTD! Yay!) I found out a fun fact. Whilst he was acting in SOTD Nick Frost shaved his genital area to keep up the constant scratching that suited his character.

Mine's coming from Sendit.com, and alas it's not been dispatched yet either.  HMV has an exclusive outer cover, which is pretty cool.

Needless to say that I've got a region-free hooky version of Shaun which is looking for a new home.

I got mine from HMV with the outer cover and the 2000AD comic, which was nice. Thus far I've watched the writers and the main cast commentaries which have been fairly good, although the latter did have my attention wandering in a few places...possibly because I was expecting something more detailed though. I remember having a similar feel after first watching the Black Book commentaries and then loving them later on when I realised just how funny they are.

Oh, and the film's not bad either.  ;)

Yes I did the exact same thing as you Mouse. although I enjoyed the commentaries more.

Very good value I have to say at £14 and with a special cover comic. and It was actually the first time I'd seen the film, I just took my brothers word that it was worth buying. Oh yes and all the commentaries and other special features bring it up a bit to.

Anyone know what the spaced crew are up to next.
I might have imagined it or been reading about someone else but I think I read something from Edgar Wright saying they'll probably be making another film possibly inspired by the action genre.

Oh and when does that Spaced boxset come out. I'd previously borrowed the 2 sets of a friend But I've still been tempted to get them both again when they've been on sale.  How glad I am I that I've waited.

The Spaced crew are doing two things, developing a movie script which Simon is writing, possibly (as Edgar has stated) based in the Action genre.

Edgar says they've been watching as many cop movies as they can.

There's Simon producing and writing "La Triviata", a sitcom starring Nick Frost (who wrote along with Simon) about pub quizzers (I think).

No Spaced forthcoming, and the Special Collectors DVD will probably signal the death-knell for Spaced.

27th Sept. I'm still gonna get the new ones.

Has anyone seen any of the US Shaun Of The Dead movie blogs?  There's some great pics of Edgar, Nick and Simon at some very famous movie locations.

In other news, my DVD's been dispatched and should arrive either tomorrow or Thursday.

Well I don't know how I managed it but I sat through (with breaks of course) Bill Nighy and Penelope Wiltons commentary.
and The Zombie one was quite good actually, If only for the offhand refrence that A League Of genlteman movies is being worked on.  I'd predcted the commentary would just be a useless extra of Zombies groaning over the entire film, but the people just managed to sustain my interest.

Yes, Nick Frost's partner is mentioned by name in the cast commentary.

Edgar's partner is Charlotte Hatherley from Ash, and I want to kill him for that.  That bastard!

The bit I found the most pleasing is the bit in which Ed mapped-out the whole movie in one speech:

Now that's good writing.

In other news, once my DSL connection is sorted, and now that the DVD of Shaun is out, I'm going hell-for-leather to complete the Spaced/Shaun site.

I got two copies of "Shaun of the Dead" as i pre-ordered ages ago, then pre-ordered the Amazon packaging, but couldn't cancel the original as the manage your orders page was broken or something.

However, they're not going to waste. Apparently there is a SOTD signing tomorrow at Forbidden Planet in London (Not sure which one), and a mate is getting them both signed! There's also a Spaced signing on the 2nd October.

I don't rember that I only rember them saying that she's going with the daughter of that female zombie in the pub.
I guess he might know which member she fucked to get in the band then.

This morning I watched MTV TRL that has Simon and Nick as the special guests and today we’re really funny. They even personate Michael Cain and Sean Connelly while they were counting down the TRL top 10. Hehe it was funny. I was going to record the sound of them doing the Top 10 on the television from my digital camera but the batteries inside the camera are completely dead. Luckily I have taped it on Video and when I get new my batteries and will record the sound and up load it on my computer for all of you to hearing it because it is just so funny. They were really taking the micky out of Girls Aloud and Jojo.

Back in May I met Simon Pegg & Nick Frost at the Soundtrack/ Spaced DVD signing at Forbidden Planet in London. I asked Simon if they had any plans for a third series of spaced. He told me that he and Jessica Stevenson had been talking about it over a meal the previous day. Sure it's nothing concrete and may be a bit of a standard answer to give to fans "we're thinking about it" but he didn't rule it out. This was a few months ago so I don't know if the situation has changed much.
At the signing I got the shaun soundtrack and spaced boxset signed + the exclusive shaun of the dead 2000 ad issue. Me and my sister also got to pose for a photo with Simon and Nick. They were both really layed back and funny. I've got all the stuff in a nice big frame on the wall of my office. I guess it will be worth quite a bit if shaun proves to be a big hit in the US. Although everything is signed "to James" so I guess it as limited appeal to other fans. Anyway I don't plan on ever selling it. It's ALL MINE!  :)

Drool away, Catsy, the DVD rules.

Funny, Simon says there may be another Spaced, Edgar says there won't.  Who's being realistic?

The US success of SOTD is hugely dependant on this, I want SOTD to go down a storm in the states (I'm doing my bit personally to make people in the states go to see it), and for it to generate interest in Spaced.

However, I'd like them to do one more series, and if they're gonna be big-shot movie stars, then they ain't gonna get time for that.

I'm not sure about another series of Spaced, I think the 2nd series was a bit of a stepdown from the first, and its been so long it might be  difficult for them to get back into it.
and I'd personally like to see them do another movie over another series of spaced.

Anyway, my parents got me the DVD today.

It's funking amazing! I haven't had time to watch all the special features, but the ones I have watched are teh shit. It has the best extras I've ever seen on a DVD.

I'm also very pleased by the soundtrack and the inclusion of Ash, (I didn't notice in the cinema!). I guess we have Edgar Wright and Charlotte Heatherly to thank for that.   ;)

Well anyway, best dvd ever!   :D

I've worked through all the extras, and obviously I agree with the above.  I loved the Zombies Commentary, including Charlotte Hatherley's mum - Patricia Franklin, Paul Putner (a regular on some of the casts shows, namely Spaced & Look Around You, and a mate of Simon's), Jon the bartender, and the guy who got 'shot in the neck'.

I guess, now I/we can crack on with the site, I have my DSL and a crisp new version of the DVD to dissect.

Catsy, if you're up for it, I'd love for you to continue the scripts.

*Bumped*

US Release of Shaun is tomorrow.  Here's hoping it gets the audience it deserves.  I'm looking forward to Speli posting in this thread.

I'm all done with the extras on the Shaun DVD, and I'll be obsessively watching them right up until the time the new Spaced DVDs land on my doorstep in 11 days time.

Question, here's my top five Shaun moments, what's yours?

1) The line: "David, kill the Queen!"
2) Shaun going up the kiddie-slide to see if the coast is clear.
3) "What's the matter David, haven't taken a short cut before?"
4) Lucy Davis' Zombie Workshop.
5) Shaun's slip in the corner shop.

All of these make me laugh out loud still (even after seeing the movie for the twentieth time).

I, like Simon Pegg, have developed a soft spot for Nicola Cunningham, who plays Zombie Mary, she is just like a little gerbil.

Top 5 Shaun moments? That's a toughie...
1) The rendition of White Lines with the zombie.
2) Shaun's slip in the corner shop (and the squeaky SFX that goes with it)
3) "There's a girl in the garden."
4) David been torn to pieces, it's just so gory and realistic!
5) The brilliant use of channel hopping, where each report on each channel intersects each other, just brilliant!  :D

And I think I will be getting that Spaced box set - I'm selling my 2 Spaced DVDs to a friend for £14   :D

1.   White Lines
2.   Ed: Can I get any of you cunts a drink?
3.   We pick up mum, kill Philip, sorry Philip, pick up Liz………….
4.    The bit where they pretend to be zombies to avoid the zombies.
5.   the whole pub scene at the end.

How’s that for a slice of fried gold?!

Sure thing Melllo. I'll try and do some this weekend before my friends steal my dvds away from me... I'm on epsiode one, and I'm up to Tim and Daisy looking around the flat. I'll try and finish as soon as possible.  ;)

Now all I need is to find some way of getting the special Spaced boxset....
