Raiders ruled, Last Crusade was a good sequel, but not better than Raiders. Temple Of Doom ... well I guess someone likes it.

The Empire Strikes Back was better than A New Hope.

Aliens was a better action movie than Alien, however Alien was the better sci-fi flick.

I didn't like the Matrix reloaded and believe it's not because i wanted attention, all my friends think i'm an idiot who does'nt understand the story (which is a loaod f'n ****)

Here is more proof i absolutely love the first one a 10 at imdb and the second a 5.

To Barney
Oh, OK then stay away. It's strictly for people who have studied the plot of part 1 inside out. That said, the action sequences can be enjoyed by everyone.

I enjoyed the action sequences, except for all the fighting scenes, they became easily boring because Neo is the ONE he's obviously going to win. Although i did think that the car chase was briliant but i missed the gun fights from the original.

Eh, the world is no safer since Dr. No was defeated, so I really wouldn't call all of the Bond films sequels.

...or a painful waste of time.  Even the fight scenes got boring.

My take:
Empire Strikes Back - The best of the 6 and I don't even need to see 3 to know that.

Army of Darkness - And for that matter Evil Dead 2 but then there was no Evil Dead....

T-2 and 3 were better than Termanator partialy due to the special effects bias and the thick creamy back story that was a bit vuage in the original. (SkyNet is The Matrix BTW)

X-men 2- since the original was just a set up.

Sequals that were not better however:
Ghostbusters 2, MiB 2, Charlie's angels:Full throttle (or the original), Austin Powers 2-3, Return of the Jedi, Poltergeist 2, The Exorsist 2, The Godfather 3, Batman Returns/Forever/and Robin, The Never Ending Story 2, The Matrix: Reloaded, the entire Air Bud Franchise, Jurassic Parck 2-3, Home Alone 1-2-3, Honey we blew up the kid/shrunk our selves, 2010, city slickers 2, Crocodile Dundee 2-3, Dumb and Dumberer, Iron Eagle 2-infinity, Leathal Weapon 2-infinity, Another 48 hours, Look Who's Talking Too, Return to OZ, Three Men and a Little Lady, Police academy 2-infinity, Caddyshack 2, all the damn National Lampoon Vacation movies. Beethoven's Second, American Pie 1-2-3, And Much Much More.....

That was indeed a big part of it.  I had actually seen T2 before seeing the original, and the first time I saw the endoskeleton walking I immediately noticed how "go-motiony" (to quote Steven Spielberg) it looked.

Sequels that were as good as or better than their predecessors:

Terminator 2 even though the first one had Bill Pullman in his finest role.

Where is Bill Pullman in Termie 1? If you're talking about Kyle Reese that's Michael Biehn and if you're talking about that gang member from the beginning that's Bill Paxton.

I wouldn't say T3 is better then T@, but it'a about on par with T1.  The effects may be better in T3, but the story suffers from "been there, done that, don't mind doing it again, I'm just sayin' is all..." syndrome.
