While dealing with the 'Glossary?' thread below, the mention of 'Happy Days' took me back to my childhood in the early 80s.  Not in a nostalgic sense, though.  It was one of those shows my parents insisted on watching, even though I didn't like it. 'All Creatures Great And Small' and  'It Ain't Half Hot Mum' were others.  Now it only needs the first two bars of the intro themes to have me running and screaming into the night.

What shows have this effect on people here?

Yeah, I hate all those depressing Sunday evening programmes (my mam watches them). Songs of Praise as well.
I've always identified The Antiques Road Show's theme tune as "you're back at school tomorrow! Do your homework!". Thank goodness those days are (partially) gone now. Still, what can you show on a Sunday night that isn't depressing?

Most of the time that show called Roccket Power (kid's show) now it's all out of control.  I mean, it snows at the very south point of California!  You gotta be kidding me!  And Rugrats, it's becoming a bore to watch.  How many episodes now? 400?

I'm starting to consider boycotting The Simpson's.

The last New Episode was really weird, creepy and surprising (Three Gays..).

I read the title and instantly expected a Simpsons slamming session (hey they all began with the same letter). As you can see I wasn't disappointed

At first I thought things were gonna get better for The Simpsons after season 12, because back then, most fans were blaming the plight on producer Mike Scully. But with him out of the picture, we still haven't seen any major improvements. I guess Scully wasn't to blame, then.

You cant blame it on 1 guy. It's a whole crew that produces the episodes.

Yeah! If you're going to blame anyone, blame Fox  :p

I'm basically fed up of most Tv, but what really gets my goat is:

'The Royle Family' because, despite what most people think, it's not funny!!! I've actually observed people watching it and not a single person laughed at it, then afterwards they said 'that was so funny!'

'Friends-clones'. 'Friends' is OK, but copying it?!?

Any soap.

Any reality-TV show.

And my sisters used to love watching 'Saved by the Bell' and I hated it. Every episode seemed to have yet another jibe at nerds.

The Simpsons and Red Dwarf.

My former two favourite shows, tarnished by rubbish recent series.

I really liked the first season of Oz, but the later seasons got progressively worse and worse.  I thought of buying the first season when it came out on DVD, but I decided I wouldn't be able to watch it without thinking of how bad it became later.  I probably felt like that because it became so bad so quickly; I can still watch earlier episodes of Red Dwarf and The Simpsons, which took longer to go bad.

Pretty much all live action t.v. shows bar the cutting edge stuff like six feet under, the sopranos etc. and sci-fi shows like the outer limits and farscape. All I watch is cartoons all day long.

I can't stand King of the Hill anymore. I used to watch it all the time--but it seems more now that it's all about Hank being a jerk to Peggy and Bobby and then realizing it at the end. If I wanted to see that every day I would go move in with my dad. And I still wouldn't think it was funny.

I was gonna say Family Guy--but I've never liked that show

It's a funny thing, there are so many shows I really liked a decade ago, and now I can't stand them anymore.

Scooby-Doo...

I can't believe that they turned that into a Movie with real actors some loosers pretending to be actors...

I like Friends, but at the same time I hope season 10 is the final one.

I used to like Roseanne, but now I can't stand to watch repeats.

We had a "Fun" lesson (as you do at the end of the year) and we watched "The Royle Family", it really is crap. It's a bunch of fat smokers sitting on a couch going "Yea", "Yea" etc. in the most boring voice of all, it's crap!!!

However Red Dwarf is still a great show, i love it.

Meh.  I didn't like the 8th season of Red Dwarf that much.  Too much slapstick and not enough of the zingy one-liners that made the early seasons so great.

I can't stand the eighth season of Red Dwarf at all. The humour is just too low-brow and had none of the intelligence of the previous seasons. I even think season seven was at least passable, and the Cat and Kochanski actually had something to do!

    "Everyone Else Loves Ray-Mond!"
      "-NOT ME!"

Sorry, not a personal opinion since I don't have one, just a comment paraphrasing the Simpsons of course.
    Tehee!

Yeah, I'll happily watch many of the old episodes of the Simpsons, but the very recent ones...I'm not bothered in watching at all anymore.

I'll always watch Red Dwarf though - regardless of the series (the only exception -in otherwords, I'd be less inclined to watch it without a second thought- would be Series 7 - for me that is worse than #8)

I really hated that movie, also scooby doo comes on about 15 times a day on CN. I guess they figure no one is watching cartoon network in the afternoon so they dont have to run good shows.
