Aww, still no votes for Footrot Flats...

That's because you made it up, and it's not a real comic strip.

No worries, it's not my favourite either. In my opinion, you just can't beat Calvin and Hobbes. I like The Far Side and Garfield too.

The only 3 funny of those options are:
1. Garfield
2. Calvin and Hobbes
3. Non Seqiteur

Thank god for Swedish classics such as Rocky and Arne Anka.

Calvin & Hobbes.

Let me tell you why.  Life has made me a bitter misanthrope, and when you look at the media, at what's popular, it is in general criminally subliterate pabulum.  The bar is really on the floor.  So I've always believed that people at large are unforgiveable idiots, the enemies of productive thought, and I walk down the street looking at all the "Friends" fans out of the corner of my eye and plotting their deaths.

But Calvin & Hobbes is the most unpretentiously intelligent thing I've ever read.  And it was massively popular, with broad appeal to every demographic.  And it never had any cheap or lowbrow jokes, so it would be pretty much impossible to really like it for the wrong reasons.  This means millions and millions of the people I want to punch every day were secretly thinking deep thoughts and nodding sagely at Bill Watterson's wise observations while they read the morning paper.  When I realized this, it came as a real shock to me.  It was one of the first times I ever had a reason to believe that, just maybe, everyone in the universe isn't so bad after all.

Second! Arne Anka is an excellent comic, especially back before Disney intervened and he still looked like Donald Duck's twin brother. Seeing a "Disney" character behave like him just added to the fun.  :D

Sinfest owns all online comics. It combines the anime look with American satire, and plus, it doesn't have to rely on games and computers for humor, like SOOOO many comic strips out there.
