I watched South Park for the first time (we can't get decent SBS reception at my house, so I can't really watch it at home) a couple of nights ago. I wasn't expecting much, maybe a few cheap laughs, but I actually quite liked it. It obviously doesn't compete with Futurama (or The Simpsons at its peak) in any way (wit, charm, laugh out loud moments, visuals, animation), but I found the two episodes I saw pretty funny, and more intelligent than I expected.

South Park manages to both insult your intelligence and make you think at the same time. Sure, it's incredibly stupid - but the episodes do make pretty intelligent points. It's a satire on society in general, and that's what makes it so great. Which episode did you see?

I can't remember the name of the first one, but it's the episode where all the rich (& black) people move to South Park. The second one was called 'Kenny Dies', I think. Kenny got sick and Cartman started campaigning for the legalisation of stem-cell research.

Ah, those 2. Great sattire on the first one (I'm pretty sure it's called Here Comes The Neighbourhood), although Kenny Dies wasn't so great in my opinion. South Park does get a lot of bad press because the first 4 seasons were really immature and stupid, but it has evolved into a terrific parody of human stupidity in seasons 5, 6 and 7.

I hope SBS air episode 6-15: The Biggest Douche In The Universe again some time soon, it makes such a smart point in a funny way that makes you think and insults your intelligence at the same time... If you haven't seen it - you should try to get a copy of it one way or another. Pure comic genius on behalf of Trey Parker.

Anyway, getting back to the subject of Futurama - new episode on tomorrow, and an above average one too, wheeeeeee!!!

It's all true. Go to www.yourtv.com.au  for details, because I'm too lazy to look it up & post it myself.

Seeing as how this is a movie thread as well, has anybody seen the new Tomb Raider movie....?
Probably just an excuse to perve on Angelina Jolie but I'll probably go see it....

I saw it last friday, it was pretty good, I was hoping for more perve action, it was better than the first one, I was also hoping for some more fun lines from Chris Barrie. It was just a regular blockbuster movie

Yeah that's what I figured....I used to be a full-on Tomb Raider fan back when the first 2 games came out, if the first movie had been released back then I would have loved it, but I saw it last year and it was good but yeah typical hollywood stuff....

I saw 'Kenny Dies' too (I missed the 8:30 one though) and I thought it was almost on a level with 'Luck Of The Fryish' in storyline! I was really suprised at the episode, most South park episodes I've seen have been really stupid (still funny), but this one was so different.

I have yet to see even the first Tomb Raider movie...

I saw the best movie on Saturday night on SBS at 10:00, City Hunter (1992, Jackie Chan). It was so... amusing!

Yay! Let's all vote for the person that digs up old threads, for the sake of the two or three people that post there. I wonder what poor bastard's thread gets pushed on to page 2 because of me.  :evillaugh:
Seriously Gleno, thanks, but there are plenty of good people you can vote for, Vote for Alex or Gocad or someone...

Awwww, you didn't vote for me?  :( Well that's YOUR bad luck! For if I won, I'd make some changes around here, such as Nude Tuesdays and the negative 8 raffle! PEEL would be a muuuch better place if I won the POTM, but no, I'm not "known" enough to get it! Well, fine then! BE THAT WAY! I'll start my own POTM, and YOU won't be allowed to enter, then the tables would turn! (despite the fact that I can already enter the current POTM so the tables wouldn't have turned at all, and I don't really give a crap that you didn't vote for me anyway  :p)

Getting back on topic, here's the description for next week's Futurama episode.

Program Details : Tuesday 7 October 2003
Futurama
Kif Gets Knocked Up A Notch
11.30pm - 12am | Seven
(PG) Animation
When Kif gets pregnant, Amy questions her readiness to become a parent. With the voices of BILLY WEST, KATEY SAGAL and JOHN DIMAGGIO.
*CC*
30 mins

Although this episode's not that good, I still personally think it's underrated, as it does have some great moments. Any other opinions, Bambi?

Unfortunately, I saw the last 5-or-so minutes of it while waiting for Futurama to come on. Nothing worth watching at all. Did anyone hear the voice-over commercial during the credits though? The guy was advertising some other show, and then he said "But next, prepare to enter the Futurama!" I mean, come on - THE Futurama? What the hell is that supposed to mean?! I could forgive him if he was talking about The Twilight Zone or something, but for fuck sake - THE Futurama doesn't even make any sense!

Also, Channel 7 put the first commercial break for A Taste Of Freedom in the wrong place, cutting out Nixon's "Sock it to him!" line. God, I am getting so annoyed by this channel's incompitence.

Eh, at least I'm seeing Season 5.

I think 'Kif Gets...' is a decent enough episode, definatly underrated. Not great, but good enough.

It isn't as bad as everyone seems to think, but it is definatly a poor episode. I voted this as the worst episode in the "Fall Madness" Board, i wish i hadn't though,  i realise that there are definatly some terrific moments, as i just watched it again recently as part of my FanFest  :)

Definatly worth watching, don't expect much, but expect more than what you have been told  ;)

I agree. It's not exactly a brilliant episode, but it's better than everyone says it is. The Professor, Bender and Kif's mid-wife alone make it worth watching.

I had to go to several stores before i could finally get my copy (for $75.95). At Big W i saw several copies behind the counter the store clerk said that there was something wrong with all of them which i found very suspicious then i saw that article on Got Futurama it cofirmed my suspicions that there was something wrong with Australia's shipment luckily my dvd seems fine......................... ............................. ............................. ...

Yeah I noticed that when they first started Futurama again a couple months ago, it's funny after a while, cos those morons obviously don't have a clue about the show....and I noticed the missing ad break as well.... :nono:
