As much as I liked the young ones, those guys were funny as hell  :laff:!

I see bottom as a more grownup version, the jokes are clever and they way richard and eddy interact with eachother is just great.

The movie bottom: el paradiso or something was cool too, but a bit over the top  :D (can it?)

Which one do you pick out of these two? It's tough, I know!

ps: Don't know how to get a poll on sorry

Bottom was funnier.  Young Ones' "plots"  were too scatterbrained and incohesive.  Both had their moments of brilliance though.  i just liked the characters of Richard Richard and Eddie Hitler better.

I like both The Young Ones and Bottom and have all of them on video. I'd have to say my fave out of the 2 would have to be bottom. I remember the very first ep of Bottom I watched. The one there they were trapped on top of that huge Ferris Wheel and it was supposed to be blown up at dawn. That was so funny!
Ironically, the very first ep I saw, was the last one they ever made  :)

It's been many a year since I've seen either of them.
Young Ones had more characters though so I'll go for that.

As much as I love them both, I'd go with the Young One's. It was much more subversive and I loved the manic plots. Bottom was more low-brow (did I see someone type 'Bottom' and 'intelligent' in the same sentence?!?!) but was just as good for it.

I feel the same way. I remember that Ferris Wheel one, I love how it ended  :p.
I liked The Young Ones since there was a group of them, the plain 2 of Bottom could get a bit depressing sometimes when 4 is always fresher, but I still say I really like both of them, but probably Bottom more  :)

The Bottom film's called Guest House Paradiso (1999). It's really good! Although Ade looks a bit pretentious when he's directing it...
I think Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson make good comedy together (the Bottom live tour's still on, they're doing the fifth one this year). As for whether Bottom is better than the Young Ones, they're quite different shows and it's almost impossible to judge.
But, having said that, Young Ones.

id have togo with bottom it just has brilliant scenes like on haloween with the cattle prod. Was the ferris wheel the final episode??? I thought it was the one where they were watching the parade outside their window and the episode ended with them saying "Go A squad" "Whats go A squad" and the swat team burst in and blow them away

I'll go with young ones, but your forgetting "filthy, rich and catflap" which was the transitional one between bottom and young ones. It ran for one season and was hilarious. More extreme than the other two which was its downfall.

Ha ha ha. This thread shall live again.

I am watching the young ones right now and I really like it. None of my friends have seen the shows from that time, because my dad has brought me up watching them, so I am on my own in my liking for that in my group of friends.

I think the young ones is really funny because you have the contrast of characters and bottom is just two guys walking around (although, to be fair, I have never really watched a full episode of bottom).

Sorry if people are annoyed with this thread again.

Young Ones.  I grew up watching this, and with only one duff episode (the first one, Demolition, which was poor.)  I have to go with that.

It set the precident that Bottom followed.

However, not paying Filthy, Rich and Catflap any compliment would be criminal, that series was great (I have the only six episodes on tape), and it was a shame that they only made one series of it.  Also self-affacing humour, as well as breaking the forth wall was commonplace in FR&C, which is why I love it:

You'll notice a similarity in the character names.   ;)

Richie: Just so long as you know that I knew you were going to say that.
Eddie: Well of course you did, it was in the script.

and again...

Richie: But how?  ...oh great, I got some great lines this week, "You're alive" and "But how?".  Now can we hurry up, I want to get to the bits with more of me in it.

If you've not seen it, seek it out.

Hey Radiohead... If you want to create a poll, select "new poll" instead of "new topic"... simple, isn't it?

Here is a line form Bottom Series 2 Digger that I think is funny:

Scene 5. Richie's Bedroom.

(Richie is in his pajamas.)

Richie: Right, now, where did I put that sex manual? (pulls out "More Joy Of Sex" from under the mattress) Might as well get some practice in before she gets here! Right, here we go -- Page One. For-e-play. Right, here we go.  (twiddles his finger in front of him) Fifteen minutes.  Not much in it for me, is there? Nah, must be a misprint, must mean seconds.  Right, that's that. (turns the page) Bloody hell! Things are hotting up now.  Hu-- I don't think I've got time to grow a beard! (fingering his chin) Hang on! (looks from a different angle) That's not a beard! Ergh! I hope he's cleaned his teeth! Right, here we go then.  One leg there...and her leg... round here... Hworgh!
