And if by yes you mean give this thread a bump then I'll do it.

Maybe Nurdy knows how to answer this the best. Are separate set boxes still very available for Cowboy Bebop? I'm thinking of buying the whole series one disc at a time. I'm off to a good start, found disc 1 on sale for $5.99.

i may have said somwhere on the boards before, but i recently started collecting Noir on dvd. i have found it to be very rewarding. Although you do get a pitiful ammount of episodes on the dvd's, no matter what arguments people present to you. £18 is alot of money for 3 25 minute episodes. The whole Noir story line kinda reminded me of the start of 'Bender should not be allowed of tv'. 'I HAVE..... AMNESIA' amnesia, writers elixer.

Damn ADV, when will they learn?

Amnesia has always been a huge anime Cliche.  See also: Trigun, Rayearth, Nadesico, Tenchi, Sailor Moon (I think), forget it, just about any of 'em.

I know there's more, but I can't remember them all...who am I...Where did I come from...and how do I know that I even have memories at all?

I think they are. I know I've seen disc 1 and 2 for sale around here, but I haven't checked for any others. Personally, I would recommend the box set, because it's generally cheaper than buying them all at retail price.

I would kill to get all the bebop episodes, and the film. oh... not that i dont have them allready... *cough cough* the internet can be a handy thing, i hate myself for doing it as i dont download stuff that often, but they don't show it on tv... like thats a reason for downloading the whole series and soundtracks, and the film. okay i'm a bad bad person.
But seriously folks- try out the noir dvd's the first one has 5 episodes, and a few really cool fight scenes. As the anime is made to be shown in the day, they are all pg's... with the exception of one or 2 that are 12's maybe. So that means unfortunately no blood or gore. This doesnt really matter, or impact the story lines in anyway, but it seems that it could improve some of the fight scenes. For example in one episode where Kirika (amnesia ridden teenager)slits a mans throat with an id card. it was a bit hard to tell what was going on to be honest without a bit of blood, because it all happened so fast. There was another cool bit where she killed a guy with his sunglasses. This is all before Chloe comes in on dvd 3 I think. I really like Chloes character design, she's just so cool. anyway, check it out. if you have alot of spare cash lying around that is, i don't believe there are any plans to start showing it on tv anytime soon, (uk peeps that is)

Attention Adult Swim: RUN LAIN!

It's late enough to bore half the audience to sleep, but exciting enough to captivate the other half.  It's also a damn good series, like if you took Donnie Darko and removed everything that made sense.

No thanks.

I like the Adult Swim lineup the way that it is now:
Inuyasha
The Big O
Cowboy Bebop
Reign

Those are all good shows, and at least they finally stopped running Blue Gender.

Well it's been a while since I've made a review, due to uni it's difficult to see new anime.
Anyway this is just an episode review.
Tenchi Muyo:Ryo ohki episode 14
Well I finally got the first episode of the third ova and I thought it was quite good. Most of the episode was used as a recap for the previous two series but some of the new stuff was very good.
The new character (Known only as Z) seems pretty cool and pretty powerfull, perhaps a contener for Kagato. The sceens with Ryoko and Ryo ohki were very good, it seems they want to show her more motherly. They already seem to be bulding up to something which is good.
The animation has greatly improved using a simlar style to GXP. The music was as beautiful as ever.
All in all it was quite good bit I will reserve my judgement til the end of the series but it does look promising.

i've never really been a big fan of tenchi muyo. Although i've never really sat down and watched it properly, it all seems a bit weird you know. i get the feeling that its all very edited for us westerners. its about a bloke.. who lives in a big house with several other attractive women... erm... I get the feeling that the show is 'somthing else' in japan.

The main things they changed for the weastern tv was the nudity (they don't wear swim suits in the baths, I mean how stupid is that), edited out most of the blood and a little script changing.
I would sugest trying to get hold of the un edited versions, they are better.

If your a Uk resident they also cut the show to make it fit with the normal time slot time. The episodes are usually 30 mins long and are cut to about 20.

The funny thing about Cartoon Network painting swimsuits on the girls was that episode where they went to the beach and actually did wear swimsuits.  Gee, why did they wear different swimsuits in that one episode?  Why didn't they wear the same ones that they usually did?

Eh, probably not anymore. I bought a boxed set from Amazon I think a year and a half ago. It came in this shiny carboard flip-top box, sort of like a cigarette case. It came with all 6 DVDs, plus the first CD of the O.S. I think it was only $100, total. It was on sale at the time. I haven't seen it anywhere else, though.

The Macross Saga (the first three DVD box sets) is hands down the best of the three series that make up Robotech.  The next two DVD sets make up the Southern Cross story.  IMO, this is the weakest of the three.  It picks up towards the end, but is overall pretty bland.  The last two DVD sets cover the New Generation story.  This section is pretty decent.  If you've got limited funds, definitely start with the Macross series.

If you like the Macross Saga, check out the original Japanese version available from Animeigo.  They took the time and did an extensive restoration on the video.  It's hard to go back and look at the Robotech DVDs after seeing how good the picture is in the Animeigo Macross DVDs.  The subtitles are quality as well.  You'll get none of the poor Engrish subtitles you find on the bootlegs of the series.

Yeah that's the one that I mentioned, "The Soul Piper and the Mischievous Little Soul".  I like that one quite a bit.  There are no monsters to fight, and instead of fighting to save feudal Japan, Kagome and Inuyasha are fighting to save the soul of one little girl.

1.Hellsing
2.Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust
3.Cowboy Bebop
4.Samurai X (just the ones with Tomoe)
5.X/1999
6.FLCL

I skimmed through this thread and saw Chobits. Okay, you can skip the rest of this paragraph if you like it. Chobits SUCKS. The plotline seems really banal, and the first two dvds are pure fluff. It's pointless, and the jokes from it have been done before in bigger and better anime. I like romance, yes, but the romance in Chobits is so boring.

Anyways, as a former Trigun fanatic, yes, the show is alright, but it is really overrated. The animation died about halfway through, and the plotline is, once again, extremely weak. That's just the anime, though; The manga is amazing.

I'd also like to add that Fushigi Yugii, Lupin, Kikaider, Big 0, Reign, Blue Gender, and Spirited Away are pointless.

Don't hurt me!! :-o

Don't worry, I won't.  Anime fans have to stick together around here.   :D

Of course Lupin is pointless.  That's part of its charm.  Sometimes pointless fun can be a good thing.

I wouldn't call Blue Gender pointless.  I just didn't really like it.

I'm gonna have to completely disagree with you about The Big O.  I love it.  I realize that puts me in the minority, but whatever.

A lot of folks seem to dislike Reign.  Maybe you have to be familiar with the real story of Alexander to fully appreciate Reign.  Also, I suppose that Peter Chung's art is something of an acquired taste.  That's probably a turn-off for some people, but I used to watch Ĉon Flux, so I guess I'm used to it.

The thing with "The Big O" is that I don't like big robots. That's all.  :p It's also why I don't like Evangelion or any of the Gundams.

Anyhoo, is anyone going to Katsucon? I have a Futurama group  :D

Ok, I saw it last year. 3 episodes, anyway. Toonami had "Giant Robot Week" all week from 2-4. I happened to be sick that week. It showed Nadesico,Evangelion and some others. Its not bad, but its not great, either. Its not too inventive. Wow, some kid meets some girl he already knew, blah blah, oops, now theyre space heroes with giant robots.
Overall, I give it 3.

Nadesico is very much worth the $40.  Just have very fast reading eyesfor the sub, or if not, a good tolerance for one or two annoying dub voices.  Specifically; commander who looks like moe from the three stooges, The model-building engineer, and occasionally "Eureka."
