I know there's got to be a few Sailor Moon fans out there.  The uncut Japanese versions are finally going to be available in the US on DVD next month!

I LOVE SAILOR MOON

The uncut Japanese versions of Sailor Moon S and SS seasons are already out. I have all 500 or however many episoded fansubbed. I think calling them "sailor scouts" was a piss crappy dub job. I like how in a lot of the episodes dubbed later they were more often called "sailor soldiers," but the dub voices were so godawful I couldn't watch it. And this is coming from someone who normally is not too critical of dubs. I just hate the sailor moon dub. That's all.

I voted for Sailor Jupiter! Go me!

I voted for Sailor Saturn because I think her character is the most intriguing of the senshi.  The whole Mistress 9 storyline was awesome and I've seen the first 4 and last 6 episodes of the final season, during which Hotaru is magnifique.  Her rapid growth in the beginning of Sailor Stars was quite interesting, though I wish the animators hadn't been lazy and had created a transformation sequence for her.  One thing I appreciated about the dub was that they kept her name as Hotaru Tomoe.  They gave some pretty silly names (Lita, anyone?) to the senshi in the dub, but it was a nice touch to keep some semi-Japanese aspect.  Other than Saturn, I love Uranus and Neptune because their backstory and fighting methods were very different from the other soldiers'.  The dub did handle them pretty badly though.  The whole "We're just cousins" thing went out the window when Haruka (Amara in the US) was always wearing pants and she and Michiru (Michelle) did that "fingers laced" thing in the ep before they died (Call me sappy, but the bit where Neptune is killed and Uranus sees the previous morning in slides and that sad music is playing never fails to make me cry.).  I wonder how they would handle the Starlights in Sailor Stars if they were to dub it, seeing as Seiya is in love with Usagi(Serena).  It would actually be quite laughable to see how they worked that out.  :laff:   Of course, the ultimate solution would be to dub it more accurately and keep it uncut for airings on Adult Swim.
Overall, I like the Outers much better than the inner senshi because they are so much more complicated.  Though Mina(ko)'s Sailor V was pretty clool.

I am not a big sailor moon fan. I would like to say the one with discustingly long legs that people like to dress up as at convention.

Musca, they all have disgustingly long legs. I don't watch it much either, so go Sailor Moon. But Sailor Mini Moon is annoying to me, she comes along as a Sailor Scrappy Doo. Too saccharine for my tastes.

I suppose to a casual viewer it could come off that way with its constant use of stock footage and simple plot lines, but if you actually dive down deep there's a very nice storyline that any child/teen can relate to.  Overall, the series showcases how a silly crybaby like Usagi/Serena can grow into a thoughtful young woman who places others first.  I wouldn't expect the series to appeal to guys, but as a female, I admire the way it models to kids that they too can rise to whatever challenge life throws there way, even if the message takes a backseat to silly phrases like "Moon Prism Power, Makeup!"  For girls like me who enjoy shows about helpless characters becoming much more, it's one of the best.  And hey, at least it's better than Pokemon.  :)

Definitely better than Pokemon.  My only problem is I don't like subtitles, and the DIC english dubs leave much to be desired.  The Japanese version has a deeper storyline.  Need to find some of those fansubs, I guess.

My personal favorite is 'Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040'.  The episodes are one long storyline instead of individual discrete stories.  Must have been a pain to watch as a weekly show, tho.

There's a funny scene in one of the later episodes where Neptune and Mars have a minor disagreement and Mars gives in and says "Usagi would have listened to me", and Neptune replies "You two are good friends, just like Uranus and me!" and Mars says "Please don't think like that!"   :laff:

Great line.  I have that episode on a fan-subbed tape.  It's in Sailorstars when Nehelenia appears again, right?
I think it was the same episode when there was something about Mercury and Uranus running together.

It's not "overrated," no one watches sailor moon thinking it's some sort of fantastic and cerebral show or something--it's just cheap fun. The storyline and characterization in the manga is much better--but I still like the anime.

Oh yeah and I love pokemon too   :hmpf:
