With the possible exception of the Matrix, I'll be steering clear of pretty much all of the listed films. I guess I'm old fashioned, but I'll take a finely crafted film bursting with a ripe plot and solid dialogue over a special FX waste of time any day. Personally, I think the Hulk looks awful. The FX look cheesy and dated. The Italian Job, why are they even re-making this film? The original was great, there's no need for a new version. That horrible Ocean's 11 has helped usher in a new era of classic films getting the modern day makeover, and in my opinion, that is pretty unfortunate. American Pie 3, meh, the first was Ok, the second was tired, the 3rd can only be more of the same. You can only make so many "Stiffler's Mom" jokes and expect it to come across as "fresh." 2 Fast 2 Furious? Ugh, never even saw the first, won't bother with the second. Terminator 3? This one is a crapshoot. It has a lot to live up to, and I have this sneaking suspicion that it's going to disappoint a lot of people. Charlies Angels FT: Saw the first, kind of fun, but I don't expect much from the sequel. X2, no real desire to see it.

Yeah, I'm gonna skip Charlies Angels 2 and wait for the third one. I hear it has a vampire AND an explosion.

Do all 8 movies in the poll have vampire explosions?

Here's what's ridiculous about "2 Fast 2 Furious" -- well, one thing that's ridiculous about it.

I swear every car in this movie is a neon pink rice-mobile. They're all ugly. The first time I saw a trailer, I swore it was just somebody making a cheap knock-off using a similar title to confuse audiences. They didn't even keep the real star, Vin Diesel, they kept that other guy; Dorky McWhatshisname.

And the spoilers! On some of these cars they are just ridiculous. Cuz you know what I think when I see a Honda Civic? This car needs more fin. They're not spoilers; they're ironing boards! They're park benches! You come out from a movie and you find an elderly couple feeding pigeons from the spoiler!

If any movie deserves a "spoiler warning," it's this one.

No, just the sequel to Charlies Angels 2 will have them...  ;)

2,R,1,3,2,3,2,2 ... sounds really creative.

So it's that they going to do Dumb and Dumber 2! Well I think it's not going to good as the original one. I don't think Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are going to be in the Second one.

Oh god coming out soon is Scary Movie 3.  :(

I voted The Matrix Reloaded, even though I'll wait for it to come out on DVD.

I can't understand why The Italian Job is being remade, the original is a classic, no need to remake it.

X2 seemed to be a lot better than the first X-men movie, but Matrix Reloaded will easily knock those other movies off the list. I can't say it will pull a 1-2 punch with both Reloaded and Revolutions, but Realoaded will rule the summer.

T3 doesn't sound like a good idea. James Cameron isn't involved with the movie, and the O'connor character doesn't look convincing this time around. I say they're drawing the plot out too far with this one.

2 Fast 2 Furious? Well, the first one was all show and no substance, and think the second movie will be the same. Even though watching modded rice rockets zipping thru the streets is a novel experience, people shouldn't expect more than a few cheap thrills.

I voted Matrix Reloaded. We have 5 prints of it (so it's going to be in at least 5 of our 20 theaters - BIG movies get 5 prints eg. Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings (finally lost that one when X2 opened    :) ). X2 only had 4 prints and it actually that busy.      :hmpf:

EDIT: We actually got 6 prints and cancelled one of our other shows last night to run a tandem. So Matrix Reloaded was in 7 theaters, and it was absolutly crazy for a Wednesday night... Now to see what it's gonna be like in a hour when I start

It's a weird world where Harry Knowles doesn't like a Matrix sequel but Roger Ebert gives it 3 & 1/2 stars.

As for Harry Knowles and "Ain't It Cool News" in general... well, these two links pretty much sum it up: http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php3?date=2002-06-24&res=l  http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php3?date=2003-01-27&res=l

I don't care what any review says, I'll be seeing The Matrix Reloaded. I've already got my tickets to see it at 10 o'clock tonight. Whoo! Screw you, Harry Knowles!

Just saw Matrix wasn't that bad but they still were ripping off everything from a bunch of different movies. I saw a lot of stuff I reconised from Hong Kong cinima this semester, they were trying to emulate a classic HK directer but were failing... it was annoying they got it about 90 percent right but they would ruin it by stopping the action with yet another bullet time effect or generic Hollywood cut, ruining the rythem. Still it was a fun movie even if I did not care at all for Zion.

The mixed reviews were previews up on Dark Horizens it is getting a 76 percent good for a summer action film, X-2 is getting an 88 percent.

I liked X-2 better but that is because I am a comic geek... too many times in the Matrix I was wondering why Neo didn't just fly away or use his powers more and the HK geek inside of me wondered why he didn't just use his Kung-fu to kill the guys faster.... oh well.

I have some info from my Oden cinema oh what coming out this summer.

In July it just gets hotter as 'Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle' is
released, and the girls are closely followed by 'The Hulk'. The
action then continues into August with 'Terminator 3: Rise of the
Machines', 'League of Extraordinary Gentlemen', 'The Pirates of the
Caribbean' and also Angelina Jolie's return as Lara Croft in 'Tomb
Raider 2'. There's also some great family films out for the summer -
'Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas', 'Spy Kids 3', and 'Agent Cody
Banks' to name but a few.

Well I really want to see the League of Gentlemen I should be really cool.

:Looks at list:
Are they rereleasing The Italian Job or is it a remake wiht American star. If the later then outrage that film is a classic british film and if the Americans change trhe endigna and actually show them getting the gold then it would suck ass. (I think I saw something about it does it have Seth Green in it?)

You're probably right about the vast majority of them and and I won't see about seven of those listed at the cinema, but I am adamant that The Matrix story and associated tie-ins (the animatrix, online stuff, the game, etc) form a fantastic piece of entertainment. You just have to read some of the essays written and posted online that it has prompted to see that it's not another mindless piece of hollywood trash.

I don't mean to sound elitist, but I probably watch more independent cinema than most on this board, so I'm not just trying to justify a reliance on the mainstream when I say I'm genuinely excited about these two movies.
next to harry knowles I think that ben is my favorite internet persona... so cool, so apathetic, and yet he's toppled by the shitty ass matrix (and don't forget the expanded universe).  I'll go talk about it more in the actual matrix thread.

Cool, another Rotten Tomatoes user. I typically go here for my movie reviews. Since they combine ratings from critics all over the US, big or small, I tend to find the site to be very unbiased.

Thank, well I don't know what to put here, we don't have that poster at my theater. I almost hurled when I saw that. We've only got the one where Bruce has the world on a string (both our posters and our standee)    :)

Hopefully I'll get to see 2 Fast 2 Furiousif a manager runs a screening, if I do see it, I'll post a review, but not right after since it'll be 2 in the morning.
