I'm going to see the stage version of Hairspray tomorrow.  I'm a big fan of the movie, so I've got high hopes.

i know they're not realistic...but it's a weird kinda half-realisim and half not-realisim that isn't recognised... they don't seem to point out anywhere within the musical that they know what they are..
does that make sense? I understand the conventions of a musical, but still.. it's a very weird type of film...
i don't know, it makes me uneasy.... i want to SEE where the music is coming from dammit!..

i went and saw the stage production of the Rocky Horror Picture show, and they had a live band playing... thank heavens!....

The Blues Brothers for me.

The soundtrack never bores me.

Dude, The Producers, by far is the greatest theatrical musical ever!!!!  I was entertained every moment of that musical.  That's is how a musical should be done, not some crappy RENT.

I've also seen, Westside Story, Urinetown, Little Shop of Horrors and even non-comedy, Floyd Collins.  That was good.

I've also sung a song from Into The Woods.  "Hello, Little Girl" and that was awesome.

Geez, for a second I thought nobody here knew Into The Woods! Thank you, fryfan!
If you haven't seen Into The Woods, find it somehow and watch it. By far one of the greatest, funniest musicals ever made.

Another awesome musical, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Hilarious.

JoshTheater- I've read the musical, since it was published.  I also have the cd.

Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas is also one of my top favorites.  I'm surprised Disney hasn't adapted it to stage since they did that for the Lion King and Beauty and the Beast.

Team America World Police and South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut also had some catchy songs.

Ah, fryfan, you need to find a VHS tape of it (doubt it's on DVD...). I own it. It's hysterical...you're not getting barely any of it if you haven't seen it.

And I've actually performed in it as well.  :D

Although I've never seen the actual musical (I've only heard the soundtrack), "A New Brain" is pretty awesome. "Avenue Q" is the same way.

Out of musicals I've actually seen, "The Producers" wins hands down.
