Well, This is a shame. Here is Australia we get everything late so it's going to be an even bigger wait for me. I'll be getting every season. I have Season 1 and 2 already. I'm a die hard fan so it's a must have. I just hope they have a fair bit more of special features unlike Season 1 and 2. Oh well, I have the rest of Season 2 to watch of Futurama so it's all good.   :)

Well, great.  As if Futurama, The Simpsons & Mr. Show releases weren't going to drain my bnak account enough in August, Rocky & Bullwinkle season 1 comes out the same day as Futurama.  Sure, I did demand all these on DVD, but not all at once!  (And Simspsons Season 3 still has an August 26 release data listed on Amazon.)

Saw it over in the Futurama Season 4 DVD thread in Stockroom, posted by somebody who's name I didn't write on the back of my hand!!
BUT!!!! now that I check Play.com, where I get my DVD's says it's due for release on 28/07/2003 and not  October 6th like it said yesterday.

Something's afoot!!

Another good sign that the DVD will be out soon is that it's going to be reviewed in the next issue of DVD Review (UK). In the current issue there's a teaser for the next issue, and season 3 is in the list!

Seasons 1-8 are the prime for me, so those are all musts (and of course I already own seasons one and two, which are both vastly underrated).  Season 9 is when the show took a turn for the worst, but I may still buy it for certain ones.  Everything after that I'll probably borrow or rent for the commentaries (if I even want to bother with them), or possibly pick them up cheap once they've been around for a while.

Do you think that Matt and the gang will actually do commentries for every episode!? I'm sure they'll have to start doing only a few selected episodes per-season.

I don't think so, after all, they don't need to prepare for them.

Hey, they have commentaries for all the season one and two eps.  Why would they feel they have to change?

Anyway, I'm also hoping to get season three.  I already own season two.  I'll probably only buy up to season five, though.  Any more than that would be too much money.

At some point they'll run out of stuff to say about The Simpsons. I'm sure at some point the will have to cut down on the number of commentaries per season.

take heart i have heard our dvds are the same ones as in the uk ( they are region 2 and 4) which means we should get it in the not too distant future and not have to wait for the us release

During what season did Phil Hartman die?
About 4 years ago wasn't it, so season 10?

A little bit (more) of The Simpsons died when he did.  :(

Phil Hartman died in season 10, I *think* his last appearence was in the episode "Bart The Mother" (it was on yesterday)

Trivia: Phil Hartman originally was cast as Zapp Brannigan. After he died, Matt made Fry's first name Philip as a tribute to him.

Zapp is done by Billy West, along with Fry, Zoidberg, Farnsworth, Smitty the Cop, Leo Wong, and like half of the rest of the minor characters.

edit -- Hartman's real final appearance was supposed to be in the Treehouse of Horror IX, during Snake's execution. However, the producers of the show thought it wouldn't be right for his last appearance to be concerning death, so they quickly re-did the episode, with Ed McMahon taking Hartman's place.

Knew that!!  :p
I don't remember seeing a "This episode is dedicated to Phil Hartman" Simpsons though?
Like they did with George Harrison?
Did I just miss it or what?

Actually they had two "dedicated to Phil Hartman" episodes(unless I'm thinking of someone else, who passed away). The first one was during a rerun, right after he died. And the second was during his final episode.

Evil Play Employee #1: Ah! Our plan works. Another one driven crazy by our continuous and pointless changing of the Simpson Season 3 DVD release date...

Evil Play Employee #2: Quick, let's change it again!
