They cancelled Buffy because Sarah Michelle Geller didn't want to do a new season, so it was pointless doing a show without the main star.

fox have also cancelled two other up and coming shows Firefly by Joss Weddon and Birds Of Prey - a futuristic follow on to Batman, with a grown up Batgirl in the lead role, so fox (don't deserve capitals) are having one hell of a clear-out at the moment, they in financial trouble or what?

oh so season 7 is going to be the very last Buffy ever.

The stroyline so far is excellnt maybe it will end up with a great big bang.

Well.... They can be blamed for most things tho.
We all like futurama and the amount of people that signed the pitition and sent in letters to fox is unbelivable so hopefully with that they will air it. Anyway now this thread is getting old.

i think Birds of Prey was a one-shot deal. besides, wouldn't the axe be in WB Network's hands? i mean, it's a FOX show, but WB pays for it and airs it.

oh, and good riddance Firefly.

Maybe I'm the only one, but I thought Firefly was a good show.  I'm glad to see crappy Fastlane that replaced it is going to suffer a similar fate.  Almost no shows can survive the Friday night spot.

I find it so funny (not really that funny), that I knew this thread was started by Juliet just by the title    I didn't even see the thread starter yet since it was on the first page.


Anyway, I've only seen a hand full of buffy episodes, so I'll probably die before I've watched all 7 seasons any way, so there's no loss for me.  Though, I digress, buffy is a pretty fun show to watch.

So, I'm sorta apathetic about it, but I always wanted to sit down and watch all the dvds eventually...

Taggart was and still is a quality show, the shorter one hour episodes weren't as good as the longer ones though.

What do you mean, a one shot deal? Why would they make just one season of a show? Even 24, with its limited premise, is going on for more than one season. Birds of Prey was obviously supposed to be an ongoing series.

Also: are you sure FOX produced Birds of Prey? I thought Warner Bros. owned the rights to all DC comics characters. At the very least, it aired on the WB, so they were the ones to cancel it, not FOX.

P.S. But just for the record, I would like to say that the show was crappy anyway.

You could be right about Birds Of Prey, I just got the information from a friend who has seen a couple of episodes and blamed fox for it's demise.  As we're in Europe, it might make it over here sometime.

yeah. birds of prey sucked. firefly sucked. maybe fox just doesn't know a good show (futurama) when they see it.

also, buffy currently sucks beyond sucking. I hope SMG has fun doing scooby doo with her man-child husband till she's 30 and then out of work.

That's weird. I never remember FOX showing or advertising Buffy. Over here, it's the WB network that airs the new episodes. FOX had nothing to do with the show.

Check the credits, Just Chris. The hated Gail Berman is one of the executive producers.

Also, where have you been? Buffy airs on UPN now. It's produced by FOX, aired on the WB, and then it was supposed to move to FOX network at some point, but for some crazy reason it ended up on UPN instead(I don't know the whole story behind that, but whatever).

I think Buffy's finishing at the right time.  The last couple of seasons haven't been as good as seasons 2 and 3, but it's still been a brilliant show.  At least it won't get dragged out to the extent the Simpsons and the X Files were.

It's the eternal tragedy of great tv shows. They start off brilliant then go downhill and/or get cancelled while countless dross shows run for season after season.

I never watched Firefly. But the lead actor previously starred in the sitcom Two Guys, A Girl, And A Pizza Place, and his face lied there all the time. He may have cleaned up his act in time for Firefly, but I doubt it.
