Yep. 24 hours of Anime.
Right next to the 24 hours computer/video gaming channel.

So Israel can have one and the UK can't?

Seriously, we need one. It's not like we're gonna need all those shopping channels and alternate lifestyle comedy channels.

The closest we have is either Toonami, or a new once called Jetix. Neither show any anime of particular interest, mainly one's aimed for children, or mindless drones.

CNX was cooler than Jetix, showing the more more mature stuff like Bebop, Outlaw Star and Spawn after 8PM. Then it became Jetix and sucked.

I miss CNX and Home Movies sometimes.

They don't show "Ghost in the shell: SAC" or any of the big or classic anime except maybe for "Voltron: Defender of the universe" which is from the 80s.
All shows were imported directly from Japan (except for Voltron), and they really went for the more hardcore anime directed to japanese than Cowboy Bebop and stuff western culture can relate to. It has it's advantages, it has it's disadvantages.
There are some pretty freaky animes you should be glad they don't reach the western markets.

I never said it was a bad channel, though it suffers from the same issues most non-central cable/sattelite channels suffer here, which is a lack of a solid schedule. Certein shows can be on at any hour, usually 3 episodes one after the other, and you never know whats on and when. They don't advertise the hours or anything like that like a normal channel should. You just open TV, see whats on, see whats going to be played in the next few hours, and thats it.
In the Gaming channel its even worse, since shows usually end 20 minutes before said time and all they show are computer/video games trailers. But I'm going off topic here...

Watched teh first 4 discs of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex on dvd this past week. I like it, a lot.  While I wasn't huge on the first movie (haven't seen the second), the show really appeals to me. Good cyberpunk isn't reliant on explaining every little science detail to the audience, and SAC works best when it's more on the situation than on the tech.

anybody seen Abenonashi? Caught it on Anime Unleashed. The dub wasn't so hot, but jeezus, the show was more crazyfucked than FLCL...

I started watching the show on AS a few months ago.  I'll agree that it's pretty good.  I didn't catch the show from the beginning, so I'm still fuzzy on some of the continuity.  The episodes are good enough individualy though that this isn't a problem.  You can come in at different points in the series and still pick it up quick.

I particularly like the examination of the boundaries between man and machine touched on in the show.  The line is really blurred in the show and I think we're moving toward that here in the real world.  It makes for some cool plot lines.  The artwork in the show is pretty good too.

Ghost is a classic, and I'm glad the sequal retained some of the glory of the first one.

Also, I'm quite cynical how anyone can beat FLCL...everyone has to high, drunk and on caffein while producing this new one to match it.

I think that I've clicked past it a few times, but I've never actually watched an entire episode.  It didn't look all that interesting.  A lot of the stuff on Anime Unleashed is pretty hit or miss.

If you are talking about the Live action Fist of the North star movie you can get it from amazon.co.uk for around 8 pounds.

As for GITS SAC. I am really enjoying the second series. I think I can kinda guess the major "villian's" connection to some of the members of section 9 but it is still speculation at this point.

I really didn't care for the Tachikomas at first. Aside from Edward from Bebop, hyperactive fast-paced 'cute' characters really irritate me. It wasn't up until I saw the "Tachikoma Days" short at the end of episode 8 (with the CEO who donated all of his organs) that I really appriciated the entire fun stupidity of them. Now, I can stand them and love them.

CNX also showed kickass movies at 10pm, plus that's where I saw Blue Sub Six, and Heroic Trio.  God, that channel ruled.

Plus, I'm thinking of getting Ghost In The Shell: SAC.

Just caught the last showing of "Wonderful Days" in Portland - though they're calling it "Sky Blue" in the US release - the plot and characters are derivative, but the animation is GORGEOUS.... it's even better knowing it's an all-Korean movie and not from Japan.

So, I was perusing the latest issue of Anime Magazine at the grocery store yesterday and it turns out there is some interesting Cowboy Beebop info in there.  They say Bandai will release an updated edition of the DVDs of the show.  I don't know what is on the DVDs that are currently out there now, but apparently they are trying to get commentaries on the episodes from both the original Japanese voice actors as well as from the American voice actors to put on these new DVDs.  Sounds interesting to me as I really like the addition of commentary tracks on my DVDs.

I just hope they release a box set of some sort.  I was kind of pissed that the only box set released was the limited edition Perfect Collection which was long sold out before I even found out about the series.  I see so many box sets at Best Buy, but no Bebop!  You're stuck buying them individually.  That's almost criminal in my book.

Oh, I love that anime too.

Anyway, I like FLCL and Fullmetal Alchemist. I'm not really into anime, I'm more into Manga.

I read Naruto, Prince of Tennis, FLCL, Hikaru no Go, Initial D, Shaman King, and other Shonen Jump stuff [bleach, etc.]

FMA is a good light hearted rhomp, though stock up on food because the series has 52 episodes in total and be surprised by the constant plot twists and theme music changes..

Well I have not seen all of the anime version of Full Metal Alchemist but I have read the first 45 chapters of the manga. So far it has been really good and well worth the read. Thing is the chapeters are much larger that noraml manga chapters (each FMA is about 45 pages nomal mangas are around 20),so it does make me curious to how much they changed for the anime.

The most recent manga's I have read have been Hikaru no go, which was good all the way til the end. Full Metal Alchemist, already talked about it. Gantz, 192 chapters so far and a very odd manga indeed. One Piece (up to 356), Naruto (252). Bleach, both the manga and anime of this are really cool. GTO, the manga is significantly longer than the anime series and I reall want to read the final chapters. The lastest oen I have stated to read is Urusai Yatsura, good so far.

edit-shoot how could I forget these two
Hellsing- Quite different from tha anime (in a good way) and alot longer (Nazi vampires? maddness)

Trigun Maximum-far more thourough than the anime and stll hella good.

@ Nurdy

I have my sources. more to the point just type "direct manga" into google and you should find the site (I paid the five dollers to get the better access but it is good none the less). Also there is a msn group which has most of FMA manga.

I've been watching this show somewhat regularly since Adult Swim started airing it.  It's a pretty entertaining watch, but it does tend to fall flat every now and then.  A "good light hearted romp" as nurdbot put it is a pretty accurate description of the show overall, but it does have plenty of darker moments to keep things interesting.
