Just curious... whats your favourite episode of the Simpsons? I get asked a lot by sorta-fans that I know... and I can't really answer. There's so many good ones. I'd have to say Marge in Chains or Wacking Day (oddly enough, those two episodes were made one after another) are topping the list. What about you? (Points at screen)

I like the one with the Burlesque house, mainly because of the song... and the one with Shary Bobbins, and, of course the one where they sing so much, from all the singing episodes.

Ooh, it's so hard to choose a best.

"One Fish, Two Fish, Blow Fish, Blue Fish"
"Homer's Oddyssy"

The two which show Homer's sensitive side. And for pure humour the one where Lisa has a crush on Nelson Muntz.

I agree.  I think "Lisa's Substitute" (yeah, it was sappy as hell, but it was the good sappy), "Last Exit to Springfield" ('It was him.  Let's get him, fellas!'), and "Fear of Flying" ('Oh my god, this man is my exact double.  That dog has a puffy tail!') are among the greatest episodes.  Honorable mentions go to "Colonel Homer", "$pringfield", "Bart vs Australia", "Who Shot Mr. Burns?", and "You Only Move Twice".

Also, I don't know if it's fair to compare regular episodes with Halloween episodes.  I think a new question should be posed, "Which Halloween episode is the best?"

A little cut-and-paste job from an ancient thread:

Season 7: Tie again: Sideshow Bob's last gleaming / Two Bad Neighbours

What can I say? I just love Sideshow Bob. Every episode he's in is an instant classic. Plus Kelsey Grammer has a heck of a voice to throw into that character.

Honorable mentions:
Lard of the Dance
Trash of the Titans
Homers Enemy
Brother from Another Series
You Only Move Twice
Homie the Clown
Deep Space Homer
Homer Goes to Collage
Das Bus

I love The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson. It got to be the funniest episode ever.

I also like Lisa's crush - I have seen that for a long time.
And Lisa's wedding.

The City Of New York vs Homer Simpson and Lisa's Wedding are good contenders but neither match up to the quality that is Homer's Triple Bypass!

From a story/character point of view, Lisa's Wedding takes the cake (a sort of Simpson The Luck of the Fryish).

However, for pure laughs and fun, it has to be You Only Move Twice. That scene with Mr Bont just cracks me up every time.
