Ya gotta love the title of this thread. Especially as it dates from the beginning of 2003.

Classic.

Yeah the coin sideplot seemed funnier than the main one though. Overall I would rate it a C+, OK, not great.

The best way to enjoy The Simpsons is to completely ignore it for months on end and watch the odd one or two.

Unlike Futurama, The Simpsons has a saturation point that prohibits my watching religiously.

Very sad.

It's unfortunately a fact of life.  The things that drew people initially to the Simpsons have either stayed the same (making people bored & wanting something funnier & more interesting) or have changed (disenfranchising those who liked the old episodes, and those who don't like the direction it's moved towards).  It's a rare thing when a TV program lasts as long as this, and it looks like right now it's turned into a cash grab for the Fox network.  Perhaps it's time to just let it end; 19-20 years of reruns is quite enough to satisfy even the most die hard Simpsons fan...

  :(

After last week's travesty of an episode (I didn't even bother with this week's), I just want the show to stop.  The only good news I can gather from that tidbit is that they haven't been renewed past season 20; maybe they're trying to go for a nice, round number before calling it quits?

Screw you.

After having watched a few episodes of season 19 recently... (I stopped watching the show religiously a long time ago) ...I have come to the conclusion that the Simpsons is still a great show.  I think the THoH episodes of recent are a little too campy for my tastes, and I preferred them when they came on before halloween, but all in all the staff is still producing quality work.  LEAVE THE SIMPSONS ALONE!!!!  LEAVE THEM ALONE!!!!!

That is a ridiculous amount of money per episode! Simpsons has always been fun to watch. But when you watch the same episode more than once it just lacks that edge that futurama does to drag you back in and make you laugh as much.

Really? You'd want your show to last way longer than any show should last? You'd want your show to go from being one of the best shows in history to one of the worst? You'd want to have a show that has lost millions and millions of fans because they didn't know when to stop?

You forgot the clown.  Even if it did really become the worst show ever... and I think that's an unfounded opinion, most people just say stuff like "Simpsons has gone on too long" or "It's not funny anymore" while looking through spectacles... it doesn't actually detract from the influential power the show had on the world.  Also, the show has to still have fans... somebody is watching the Simpsons, or it would have been taken off the air long ago... also it makes money for lots of people.

So, probably... for money's sake alone someone would probably want a show they started to last that long.

I was once a fanatic and now I'm just a fan, I've seen every episode of the show, and will probably stick with it until the bitter end, it's still been pretty consistent over the past 6 seasons, 14-19 have been way better than 10-13, when the show truely was at its most unfunny, still nowhere near the "classic" era, but its still good enough to watch on a weekly basis, and the fan (and former fanatic in me) wants it to go past 20 seasons (but not go on forever), since it would be nice to have the prime time record go to show I've actually grown up with
