I thought I should start this one, since it's no longer Season 13, yet we're still using that thread.

As for tonight's episode, I did miss the first act (and from what my friends said, I didn't miss much), but I thought the show was, all in all, similar to the last few seasons of mediocrity that's engulfed the show. All the little sketches' with the rockstars' different courses was kind of humorous, but the rest is all bleh.

It was pretty predictable, which is sad, because when did you think "Homer acts like a jerk to impress his celebrity friends" would be a Simpsons cliche?

Doesn't Homer have a job, anyways? What about everyone else in town?

And why the hell is Brian Setzer still even allowed on tv?

I knew in advance this episode would suck. Any episode with more celebrity guests than jokes usually does.

It was okay. The good thing is they have left out the stupid jokes.

Not too bad as new episodes of Simpsons go... And it wasn't bad for the whole crew of guest stars.

-Also just realized I missed the new episode of Futurama! DOH!

There's an interview up with Matt Greoning at www.rollingstone.com.  Not surprisingly, it deals with the musical aspect of the show. There is some stuff about last night's episode which might be interesting.

Yup, it was pretty tame indeed. Good thing they cut down on the gratuitous violence though.

I just saw the halloween special here in the UK, and finally! its was great to see an enjoyable episode of the simpsons again, the one before that was "the sweetest Apu".

I compared the two episodes and man did TSA suck compared to it, my favourite segment was the clones one, it was just like the old halloween specials, anyone agree?

This weeks episode with Bart and Lisa in the 3rd grade was the first one I enjoyed.  I didn't think the THOH ep was good and the one with the Stones was even worse.  The new season is 1 of 3 so far for me.

What was the Sweetest Apu about? I recall seeing an episode with Apu and Manjula that I never saw before, and it aired on a weekday. Was this ep a season 13 one that I happened to miss?

"The Sweetest Apu" was when Apu has an affair with the Slushie-refil lady because he no longer finds Manjula attractive (or something.) Of course, he's caught in the act, sorta, and Homer tries to teach Apu how to get back into Manjula's good graces.

I've only seen it once, and, like season 13, it wasn't much to write home about.

Kryte, you just don't get the MG humor.
The stuff w/ Milhouse started out funny, & ended crappy. Sorta the same w/ Krusty. But the stuff w/ Marge was very good. Wish they had centered more on Marge throughout the entire ep. I loved Maggies' upward point of view toward Marges' breasts.
Barts' enthusiasm was out of place, but I guess the writers just felt like Bart should be more in it.......come to think of it, you're right. It was a crappy episode.

Just watched both 'Bart vs Lisa etc...' and 'Large Marge' last night. I must say, they were both a definite improvement over the first two episodes of the season which, frankly, completely blew.

Still, they weren't overly great episodes in their own right, but at least I enjoyed watching them, which I certainly can't say about the rock and roll camp one, which just felt completely forced.

The singing in 'Large Marge' sucked, but that's expected, and the slobbering chauvinism of Springfield's men was overplayed to the point of annoyance, but it had some good points. 6.7/10

'Bart vs. Lisa vs. the Third Grade' was the best episode shown so far this season, but again, that's not saying much. It seems some of the least annoying episodes being made these past few seasons are the ones focusing on the kids, like last years one with Lisa attending university and Bart in the bubble (the name eludes me at the current time). Nice to Lisa actually acting half-way like an 8 year old girl again after recent seasons depicting her as this almost infallible, all-knowing 50 year old intellectual stuck in a childs body. Nice, solid, middle-of-the-road episode. 7.5/10

I really didn't like this new one (Simpsons partake in reality series).  The whole episode felt really disjointed and involed too much Homer torture.

Worst episode this season by far

It's sad, but it's almost 2 hours later, and I can hardly remember any of the jokes from tonight's episode "Helter Shelter."

I guess the past few seasons of the Simpsons have been like that: not really awful, but more forgettable than anything else. The only joke I remember that was any good was the Bill Cosby one, but, then again, making fun of Bill Cosby is just a natural win.

Jimbo, Dolph, and Kearny were all nice to see again. Their jealousy over Bart's new outfit was pretty good, and the highlight of the show.

Ranking? I dunno...C maybe?

I agree with Joe25, this was the worst episode yet.  All the jokes seemed forced, very few of them actually made me laugh.  I was glad to see yet another joke about the Simpsons getting sick of going on new adventures. Way to be subtle, writers.
