I don't like Kristen Wiig and her constantly the most-awkward-person-in-the-room schtick. I've accepted that she will pop up in things I want to watch because the majority finds her so funny, but 95% of the time I can't stand her. So that played a big role as to why I didn't care that much for Bridesmaids. Melissa McCarthy, while the only thing I remember about Bridesmaids and an actress I want to like so bad, has made a series of comedies containing one of the most unintentionally hateable characters I've ever seen. The Heat was okay, but Identity Thief and Tammy are terrible movies.

Like a lot of people on SNL, I didn't care for Wiig during her time on the show much at all, but have warmed up to her since as she's shown quite a bit of versatility I think. As for McCarthy, I agree that she was great in Bridesmaids, but like you said, everything else she's been in has been terrible.

At worst, Kristen Wiig is doing her obnoxious batshit crazy SNL stuff and I cannot watch whatever she's in. At best, I just ignore her because she usually surrounds herself with a cast of great actors/comedians. I will say her work on Arrested Development and Spoils of Babylon were the best things she's done (in my opinion).

I am honestly shocked to hear that people actually still watch SNL.

Which makes the choice of Jones and McKinnon not terrible, but underwhelming as they have little work to show for outside of SNL. But there's a lot of potential with them.

I don't, in case I gave that impression. Every once in a while I catch it on TV when somebody else is watching it, or see a sketch on YouTube that's been linked to here and there, but I certainly don't seek it out. I did used to see it more often several years ago, so I have a familiarity with the work most of its alumni did on there. They all seem to have a tendency to get much better once they leave the show.

Spider-Man will be appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sony still owns him, but they're doing a collaboration of sorts with Marvel, and potentially having MCU characters appear in future Spider-Man films as well.

I wonder if they'll show the origin story for the third time or if they'll skip it and just assume people know it.

The plans for Marvel's take on the character were revealed as part of the Sony hacks a while back and I doubt they've changed much since then.

Basically, Spider-Man will show up in another Marvel film first (probably Captain America 3), before getting a film that bypasses the origin story completely. The plan is to distance the character from the The Amazing Spider-Man films as much as possible, which means that the romance will be significantly downplayed.

I feel like if they really wanted to distance the character from The Amazing Spider-Man films as much as possible, they'd make a new origin story but whatevs.

It should be interesting to see more Spider-Man, anyway.

I'm guessing we'll see a Spider-Man teaser in the post-credits scene for Ant-Man.

He certainly has a point about the media reporting on this. I get excited when the posters and first trailer of a movie comes out, but I stop paying attention after that so I can just enjoy the movie when I see it. Even then I still get a lot of things spoiled for me.

I wish I had that self-control. I remember when I was first watching the Avengers, at the part where Iron Man was falling from the portal, I was like "well, this must be the part where Hulk catches him in the trailer."

I need to stop over-analysing every minute detail.

That's part of the fun, though. If you stop doing that, you'll lose a little of the reason that you enjoy movies like that in the first place.

I don't overly enjoy watching movies that much anymore to be honest.  I guess it's enjoyable, but it's not particularly additive to my life necessarily, and the gain is pretty much take it or leave it.  Sometimes I get bored, but whatever.

And that's why I can't stop. Granted, I'm mostly just an observer when it comes to all the speculation surrounding the MCU, since I have very minimal knowledge of the comics, but damn if it isn't fun being part of the whole thing.

Human Centipede Part 3: Exclusive release date and synopsis details

In slightly-related news, I met the star of THC 2 at my local bus station the other week, he's set to star in THC 3 alongside Dieter Laser from the first film, too. He was very friendly and let me get a photo with him. :)

Yes, I have. The second one isn't pleasant to view at all.

Here's a trailer for the third one, glad to see they're going for a kind of comedic effect:

Marvel's got a lot going for it right now: Daredevil and tonight is the premiere of Age of Ultron, but lest we not forget this little ditty,

Honestly, Paul Rudd is so adorable I could not ever possibly hate this movie even if it is just okay. But I think this is a much better trailer!

This is the first piece of promotional material for this movie that hasn't been immensely discouraging. I had already written the movie off, but I actually kind of dig this trailer. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

What else was there? I know there was the group photo and picture of Joker but I fail to see why they'd make you concerned about the quality of the movie, unless you were extremely skeptical in the first place (which I honestly wouldn't blame you for).

See, I feel the opposite.

I was really excited for this film, mostly based on the premise and the fact that I'm willing to give anybody a chance as The Joker at this point, but this trailer does absolutely nothing for me.

It just looks like a series of events - there's nothing particularly cool or interesting about any of it. The new Joker seems incredibly derivative of Ledger's and they as good as stole Jack Nicholson's line from The Shining at the end, there. Maybe it's because I've never really understood the appeal of Harley Quinn. She's just the Joker's equivalent of Robin and Robin sucks. I'd rather see a female Joker.

I'm really pumped. It looks like it's going to be an insane movie. And I really dig the tiny bit I've seen of Leto as the Joker so far. He seems like he's going to play the character extremely, extremely well. Also Robbie looks amazing as Harley Quinn. :)

It's hard to compare Ledger and Leto because it seems like they're taking two completely different approaches to the character. Ledger sort of was the Joker. He had the look, he had the personality all completely captured perfectly. But Leto sort of seems to be putting his own twist on it, which I'm excited to see.
