Benedict Cumberbatch's character in the new film is being credited as "John Harrison". Not Kahn, nor Gary Mitchell as rumored...
Who the fuck is John Harrison? Hopefully this is disinformation. I am literally angry with anger.
Least ominous villian name ever.

He didn't seem harmless. He's the only man who ever tried to grope James Bond.

I read somewhere that the DS9 writers contemplated to reveal the whole series took place in Benny's mind during the finale. Intriguing, but that would have royally pissed off TONS of fans...

And TNG also had a bearded Riker who got a whole lot more than a head rub from a Klingon!

DS9 had Avery Brooks, who punched Q, met Kirk, and saved the entire alpha quadrant times over. And now Avery Brooks has a jazz album out, cause he's a classically trained opera singer.
He's also a weirdo, if you watch the documentary The Captains, he's like totally whacked on some hippie crack or something.

Well, they blew up Romulus and Vulcan in the first movie, so it's gonna be hard to top that.
Maybe they'll make Kirk gay.

Personally I don't like how they overwrote all of Kirk Prime's actual traits and made him less heroic and definatley [sic] not as powerful of a person in terms of strong William Shatnery personalities. While I agree with you in spirit, I do not in... body. ...... The notion is that this is Kirk as a younger man, before he'd acquired those traits. It's not a new concept to have Kirk depicted as an arrogant asshat in his youth - quite a few of the Trek novels portray him as exactly that. The real test will be the next movie, if they show him gradually changing into a more Shatneresque figure. Like any executive is going to make a DS9 movie. Even if we all want one.
I would prefer to see a new Next-Gen era series, in which the events that sent Spock Prime to the past could be a story arc. We could have appearances from all the major players. Won't happen, except in my 1400-page fanfic. Well, they blew up Romulus and Vulcan in the first movie, so it's gonna be hard to top that.
Romulus hasn't blown up yet. You're not thinking fourth-dimensionally![/doc brown]

Wouldn't everyone want to see another DS9/VOY era show?
I've thought about this a few times since the end of DS9 and Voyager and the Nemesis feature film, and it would be intriguing. Playing devil's advocate, I think it would be difficult to present new and interesting storylines. DS9 arguably wrapped up the the Cardassians, Klingons and Dominion threads, Voyager pussified the Borg, and Nemesis ended with the Federation and Romulans on the verge of peace. What would they do? Bring out another super-duper bad guy? Going back to a more "simple" time like Enterprise or the JJ Abrams Kirk era seemed to be the prudent thing to do. So much of those eras weren't fleshed out enough, if only because ENT and TOS weren't given the 7 seasons that the other series had. I might be in the minority, but I actually liked a lot of what Enterprise had to offer. Sure, alot of the characters were one dimensional, but for my money, the 3rd and 4th seasons were among the highest quality of any of the Treks.
