Sometime ago, I did a poll(Lord Of The Rings vs. Harry Potter). LOTR win by 15 votes over Harry Potter  :) .So I thought that with the inminent release of the FOTR DVD it could be a good time to talk about all things related to Rings. So, here it is.

Cool.
Yeah, they're giving some goodies in some places when you buy it: posters, keychains and stuff like that.
You know, New Line invested 45 million dollars in publicity for this release.

The first instalment of the Lord Of The Rings series has conjured up the biggest one-day sale for a DVD in the UK.
The Fellowship Of The Ring - already a box office smash - sold 1.27 million copies on its first day on the shelves on Tuesday.

I saw LOTR for the first time on Tuesday and found it kinda confusing and really long. The names were hard to keep up with and the storyline seemed really complex. (Until I was told what was going on) But the film overall was alright. It had nice sets and scenes in it. Visually it was great to watch  :)

I thought that at first too Ghoulishmoose.

My sister rented it (LOTR) on DVD though so Ive seen it 2 1/2 times now think I understand it. First time I saw it on DVD I could hardly see what was going on in the "great" Mines of Moria sequence, then we turned up brightness or contrast or something (whatever it was, it was fine for viewing other tv/films) and it was so much clearer.
Even after seeing it properly though I thought the fight in the woods was better.
In a DVD mag it says the extras kind of repeat themselves, with interviews and stuff.

Maybe for a person who has not read the books it may be confusing, but for me it was a masterpiece.

The DVD was number 1 on both DVD and VHS rentals lists in the US and it is the biggest selling DVD in one week in the UK.

I just saw this for the first time when it recently came out on DVD.  I liked it very much.  A rare example of delicious special effects as background for a good story.  Looking forward to the next one.

I've tried reading the books, but I can't seem to stay interested enough to finish reading the prolouge. I just wanted to see what all the hubbub was about, but my brain must not care for the eriting style.

In truth I find your statement offensive, seeing as how I love to read. I once had the motto of "I haven't found a book I didn't like." I know this isn't true. As I've said before it is his writing style that puts me off. Yet, I notice I can finish a Harry Potter book in a matter of weeks even as short a time as a few days. Kinda sad really especially having to wait for the next one to come out.

So if I truly want to, I can finish the series. I just don't want to right now :D

Ditto Tweek.  I can't wait for the second part, but I don't think it 'll be shown until the end of the year or something.

My sister saw it for the first time too yesterday, and she liked it.

I saw it on my computer, but I'm definately going to the cinema for the second one.
