This is kind of a downer, I used to watch Welcome Back Kotter on nick at nite all the time, plus Honey I Shrunk the Kids was one of my favorite films as a kid, and it still holds pretty well today...RIP Marcia Strassman

RIP Glen A Larson.

In the seventies and eighties it seemed like half the shows made in the US were created by him! :p

I always liked his version of "with a little help from my friends" better than the original, and thought he was a good sport about the belushi impression

Not really sure if this goes here since it's not a typical "celebrity", but YouTuber Kitty0706 who was best known for Garry's Mod machinima such as Team Fabulous 2, died from leukemia today. :(

So Space Ghost, Rodger Ramjet and Powdered Toast Man were all done by the same guy? I had no idea.

Apparently he also voiced the only cylon centurion (in the original BSG) that I felt had any character or personality - Cy in "The Return of Starbuck".

Very sad, indeed. I caught a couple episodes of the original series when they aired, and I was immediately hooked.  I remember thinking "This is *nothing* like Lost in Space or other corny TV sci-fi shows".

I was honestly not expecting him to pass away so soon. In fact I didn't even know he was 83 :O_o:

He was loved and will be missed by many. You have my peace in your RIPping, Leonard Nimoy. Live long and prosper. :(

Somebody (more specifically a mod) should add Spock's finger gesture to the list of smilies, in memorial of his integral figure. No, seriously. Get on it.

Unfortunately we seem to be chalking off the Star Trek TOS crew members...

I met him at the London Film & Comic Con in 2006 and he was delightful, gracious and suffered this particular fool gladly.  Which gave me a nice memory, and my VHS box set is signed by him.  Bless him, he'll be missed.

Well, Mr. Simon was very outspoken of his disease and its terminality. I read a couple articles a few months back surrounding interviews of his plans to donate his fortune upon his death to various charities that support animals, "living creatures that can think and feel but cannot speak for themselves" (paraphrased).

Rest In Peace Sam Simon

With Alzheimer's, perhaps it's easier for me to think that last orders had been called some time ago, and I take solace at the suggestion that his daughter may carry on his work, meaning that the Discworld can continue on its journey, but the truth of it is that my favourite author has died, and it's going to take a while to sink in. :(

I have no words that are strong enough to convey the extent of good wishes I bid him on his departure. I do hope Death is faithful to the books though.

While the change in style and subject matter over the course of the Discworld books has been interesting to observe, (when was the last time we heard of octarine?), my interest in the series had been on the wane since sometime around The Last Continent, (until it was revived by Going Postal). Even so, Sir Terry was the only author who had me impatiently anticipating his next offering.

So, thanks for the hours (days?) of amusement and may you indeed rest in peace.

Stan Freberg is (via my parent's record collection) my earliest memory of musical parody (and sarcastic humour) and became the standard by which all others were judged.

Thanks, Stan, for the memories. RIP

Andrew Lesnie, heart attack at 59. Cinematographer (Babe, Lord of the Rings, etc.)

"On the set of Lord of the Rings I asked him during a set-up in the darkened tower, 'Andrew, where is that light supposed to be coming from?' his typically impish reply, 'The same place as the music.'"
