I watch the Simpsons on BBC, and I was wondering, with all the talk of FOX's trigger happy editing, do, and if so, do BBC edi the Simpsons as much? Help, all Sky one and FOX watchers!

BCC doesn't edit the simpsons (I think). Sky one is weird because sometimes they cut out certian bits in an episode and other days they show the same episode uncut.

Yeah I notice that too, sometimes I'd be watchin and then say "Hang on, this is new!".
I think they cut out things like "ass" etc.

Anyone see that episode when Homer buys a gun?
I've only ever seen it twice, maybe it was banned or something?

I've seen it once on BBC, I can't think why they'd ban it. They pulled "The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson" recently, which really annoyed me, I understand why they did it but they shouldn't have advertised it in the first place.

I don't think the BBC cuts episodes.

Yeah, they planned to show it right up to the last minute, before changing their minds. Which was unfair on the fans.

One word they will always cut out is "Bastard". They rarely cut out "Ass". In the episode 'The Last Temptation of Homer', they cut out the "Bastard" out of 'Thanks for poisoning the planet, bastard!'

One weird thing is that BBC2 don't cut out "Crap" on the Simpsons, while Channel 4 cut it out of Futurama!

Actually, I don't think they did cut bastard out in that instance. Homer also said it in Treehouse of Horror IV.

Which bit?

Also they cut it out of the episode where Krusty becomes bankrupt - when his radio thing falls into the sea Krusty says "Tell me where you are now you bastard!"

They don't cut out bastard. The words bastardised are often used, as is Lil-bastard something kit. Also, Im sure its used normally too. I always think its weird to let that through on BBC2, a rather conservative channel, but on C4 even suggestions of cartoon violence can be too much.

The Cartridge Family, the episode where Homer buys a gun, is a pretty shocking one, not just for the gun content, but for the mentions of prostitues, riots etc. Sky1 cut the entire episode but BBC2 played it as far as I remember, uncut at 6pm, yet Sky refused to show it even late at night.

As Mitsui points out, BBC2 are fairly odd in lettingsuch things get through at such an early time of the day, cosndiering that it is funded by the public and the public can complain if they don't like its content.

The most edited episode I've ever seen on the Simpsons is that Itchy and Scratchy land one. It was put on at 8:00pm and its just as edited as the time it was shown at 6:00pm. Very dissapointing.

After watching the Itchy and Scratchy Movie episode (long time ago)I noticed (after watching the film festival DVD) that the WWII short was cut.

They cut out Mr Burns' "Wankers" at the end of "Trash Of The Titans" and dubbed it with a repeat of him clearing his throat or something.

Maybe the editor was just a U2 fan, though?

How lame would that be too watch: stands up clears throat and sits down when he actually said wankers.

Burns gets hit by a spoon. He says Yow!
On BBC, he stands up and says Yow! again, although his mouth states two syllables. On FOX, he stands up and calls U2, "wankers"
I knew something was strange. I was waiting for the climatic laugh. Burns stood up and said, Yow!. then there were the end credits. I was thinking 4 things:
1: Was that it?
2:What the...?
3:Something strange is going on. And there's only one corrupt group that can help, PEEL!
4:I'm hungry, what's to eat around here?

There was two instances of "Wankers" in that episode, first when Edge says he's off to Moe's, Adam asks if he can go along,

Edge: "No"
Adam: "Wankers"

Burns repeats the line at the end of the episode.

They cut both lines from the show, but the first one made more sense. I don't know the guys from U2's names so I will call them Guy 1, 2 and 3.

Guy 1: Oh no, Bono is on one of his environmentalist lines again.
Guy 2: Shall we go off to Moe's bar?
Guy 1: Yeah OK
Guy 3: Can I come?
*guy 1 and 2 look at each other*: No
Guy 3: [Wankers]

End scene
Guy 1: I got a Springfield spoon for my spoon collection
*guy 2 picks it up and throws it over the seat and it hits Brusn on the head*
Burns: Wa[nkers]

Cut out the lines in brakcets and you see how the first scene makes sense whereas the second one doesn't. I also believe a line of credits was cut out at the end. I've said it before - I believe that in America wankers doesn't mean the same thing, or at least isn't nearly as offensive, therefore FOX could include it. A show containing the word wankers would normally be shown after 9pm in England so I am not surprised that it got cut.

The Edge (guy 1), Adam Clayton (guy 2) and Larry Mullens Jr. (guy 3, I think).

*breaks out into his rendition of "In the Name of Love"*

I get my bus home from outside Bono's hotel!!
Which means absolutly NOTHING!!!
