Katey Sagal was featured last week on Entertainment Tonight's "Whatever Happened To Your Favorite TV Star?" segment...I only caught the last half of the segment, but while no mention was made of Futurama , I did learn a lot about the former "Mrs. Bundy" that I didn't know before--some tragic (a miscarriage, divorce), some happy (lotsa healthy kids now), some pleasantly surprising (singing career?!?). But no Futurama mention! Asses.

Anyone see the whole thing?

I didn't see it, but if I had know she would be on I would have watched.  I did hear about a new sitcom coming out in the fall starring Katey Sagal and John Ritter.  That might be worth watching.

About Ms. Sagal's singing career: I've known about that for a while, but I was surprised when I found out too.    :)  It certainly helps to explain Leela's lovely singing voice, doesn't it?

Starlog interviewed Katey Sagal back in June 2000.  You can read the interview at The Leela Zone.  Click here.

Yeah, she really caught me off guard with her bit in "Robot Hell."

A local tabloid magazine did a 6-7 page article about Katey Sagal a while ago (and did mention Futurama woo-hoo) where her singing career was brought up. But after hearing her on "Married...with children" I didn't pay much attention to that, so I was also pleasantly surprised when I heard her singing voice.

I saw a profile on her. Her mother died when she (Katey) was 20, leaving her to raise her younger sibblings and her father (director Boris Sagal) was killed by a rotor blade on a set for a film he was directing (called World War III) five years later. All in all she's had three marriages and is currently divorced. She had that miscarriage but then got pregnant again and it became one of those big on-screen pregnancies on Married...With Children like with Pheobe (spelling?) on Friends. After the huge build up, in her life and on the show, her little daughter was stillborn (ie dead on delivery) I can't think of anything much worse than that, but she showed tremendous courage with it all. But yes thankfully she has two healthy kids now (although now she's trying to get through the task of getting their custody). She's had quite a tough life she has.

Oh and on her singing carrier, she was a backing singer for Bette Midler on several occasions.   :)

I knew she could sing, so I wasn't surprised at all. Now, Anthony Head's voice was a shocker.
