I went to see the avengers for a second time tonight with a friend, and i must ask.
WHY do people bring their newborns to the cinema? It was a 7:40 session. How can they think they can get away with putting the child to sleep and expecting it to stay asleep through the movie?!
There seemed to be 2 in the crowd tonight, and they liked to cry very loudly right at the quiet parts. To the point where we were all looking at each other saying "Um.. seriously?" and someone yelled at them to take it outside.

I have a niece, and i understand that having a kid is hard, but it's YOUR CHOICE, not mine. I chose to pay to come and watch a film, not listen to your child crying. Get a babysitter, if you can't afford it, stay home and wait for it to come out on blu ray. [/rant over]

I loved the film. Thor and Captain America. two mountains that just need to be climbed. what beautiful men. hot damn.

Can we stop talking about Avengers in the upcoming films thread now? It has arrived, it is no longer upcoming...

Does anyone think this is going to be a 3-for-3 year with the superhero movies? The Avengers is fucking awesome, I'm much more excited for Spider-Man than I was when the first trailer came out, and we get The Dark Knight Rises. I think Spider-Man has potential to be not as good, but I don't think I'll go out hating it.

Heeeey... I just saw The Avengers, and there was no trailer for Prometheus. Was there supposed to be?

In exactly one month Ridley's Scott's Prometheus will release in theatres on June 8 and many will be then buzzing about it. Prometheus is somewhat a prequel to ALIEN.

If you have never watched the original ALIEN film, if you have 30 days to fix that. Along with Ridley's Scott's ALIEN, catch the sequel ALIENS by James Cameron as well.

I’ve got high hopes for Prometheus, it’s just that the word ‘prequel’ makes me slightly nervous. The trailer looks good, so hopefully it’ll be an instant classic.

Ha.. well it's not quite surprising to find people online (more so the younger crowd) who are all well aware of Prometheus due to its extensive promotions, but they haven't necessarily seen any of the original Alien films. Just want more people who are not aware of the connection to the classics, to atleast experience the first Alien film.

I think Alien is better than Aliens.

Yeah, I just want a fight. Bring it on!

I'm keeping my hopes well and truly low for this next/previous one. Films were better before I was born/was very young - maybe I should just regenerate or die. That might solve the problem.

If you haven't seen the alien films, just watch the first two. Three is so disappointing. And Aliens is one of my favorite movies, (bring it on SoS), it's a great action-horror and a really good sequel. I can't wait for Prometheus although I don't think you really need to watch the other films to see this. From what I understand it's of the same universe but has nothing to do with the Alien franchise.

Put your hand up if you're young old enough to have joked about what you thought the next Alien films might be called.

3 More Aliens
4 Extra Aliens
5 Too Many Aliens
6 We're Kinda Coping With This Level Of Aliens Now
7 Were You Expecting THIS Many Aliens?
8 Just Fuck OFF, Aliens

Who'da thought they'd cube it and only have 2 in the whole film. Lying bastards. And disappointing.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the timeless epic that is Alien vs. Predator.

Actually, that's one of my favorite bad movies of all time. It's just so glorious stupid. I love the part at the beginning where the team is being shown this 3D model of what is clearly an ancient pyramid, and the rich guy in charge of the expedition says, "My experts tell me it's a pyramid."

I'm guessing he paid his experts too much.

I prefer Alien over Aliens as well. Aliens is definitely a good sequel with more sci-fi action and surpasses the original film in terms of Alien interactions. But one of the things I like more about Alien is how atmospheric it is. I love how it kinda gets under your skin coming off a great sci-fi horror film; in spite of less Alien with more fear of the unknown in the first half of the film.

How dare you! AvP was superbly written, the Predator clearly needed a sassy black woman sidekick, I don't know how they missed writing this into the original movies! :p

This is a gallery comparing images from the episode pilot of SpaceBattleShip Yamato (StarBlazers for you censuring americans :D (*) ) from 1974 with the same scenes from the remake that was released this month.

http://imgur.com/a/US9N6#18

WHY they dont make remakes like this? This is total respect for the original going to remake ships and even shots exactly like they were 38 years ago ... it could also be lazyness :D But after seeing that many remakes wich "reimagine" totally reinventing all visuals .. this seems quite rare (im talking about things like Wing Commander (ok it was the movie from the game, not remake, but it was like 139% reimagined ) .. BattleStar Galactica.. Star Trek..
Even the live action movie of Yamato itself had this.. while the respected the Yamato itself and part of uniforms.. most other designs and visuals were totally changed ... to the point of being totally unrecognizable..

And im convinced that if Lucas ever makes a remake of StarWars all visuals would ve like Ep-1 or even worst

(*) Oh could be worst .. the spanish version of Yamato was the translation and adaptation of the american version.. so you get a weird japanes show.. censured and adulterated to impossible limits by americans and then adapted and translated by spaniards..... thats why i went directly to the original version)

Alien is a better film than Aliens; hands down.  Plus Sigourney Weaver is younger in that one.  Alien³ is probably the low of the quadrilogy, and Alien Resurrection isn't even a horror movie, but I still rather enjoy watching it (despite the fact that it takes place like 1000 years after the first movie); Sigourney Weaver is still pretty hot in Resurrection, but she's like 52! :D

AVP was a horrible movie; I could stand watching it, and it was humorous, but it shat all over any chance of a coherent story in the alien timeline.  The only thing I can do with that movie is pretend that it's more make believe than the other make believe movies I watch.

I wasn't ever real a big fan of the Predator series either.... that was.... until I saw Predators.  That movie... that's a movie I can get behind; it's psychological, and it mirrors its original counterpart well.  I really enjoyed that one.

All in all; Prometheus will be awesome.  It will be most like the movie Alien though, out of all the other movies listed in this post, it will be most like the movie Alien.

I just went to go see "The Hunger Games" a few days ago, and it was alright. It felt like they just rushed to make the movie just because the book was getting popular. The story line was a little weird, alot of things were not really needed, but still interesting. The acting was quite good, for the weird kinda film it is. I thought the girl was exceptional.

Overall, 7/10. It was weird, and not the type of movie I watch, but I think I'll go see the sequel when it comes out.

I am so freaking excited for Frankenweenie.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cqI6hPra7c  I'm not sure if I love the obvious references to Edward Scissorhands though or find it a bit annoying (it's like having the house be perched on that spiral hill)   And no Johnny Depp in sight!  I love Johnny Depp, but I am pretty sick of seeing him in everything Tim Burton does.  Same with his missus.  You can have too much of a good thing.

Duncan Jones to direct a Ian Fleming biopic

"The essential question for me is: Where did Ian Fleming end and Bond begin?"

Given his track record, I'm looking forward to this far more than to Skyfall.
