That's true. I wouldn't have minded.

Actually, I wouldn't mind Kang and Kodos making cameos in canon episodes. It's just when whole canonical episodes are centered around them that I wonder "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!". No matter how bad the show gets, that stuff just isn't supposed to happen in The Simpsons.

They have rocked up in a clip show; Season 13's "Gump Roast." Which was terrible, but it's hard to get upset about what happens in a clip show. On commentaries, they've mentioned that they've tried writing them into other episodes, and it always falls flat. "People always look at us like, 'what the hell are you doing?'"

Good to see they're not letting fan lashback and commonsense derail them from their evil anymore!

I know, right? Why let these crazy people keep them from completing the next phase in the total destruction of The Simpsons?

I thought the movie was canon. But I might be wrong....

No, it's canon. Spider-pig has made a couple of cameos in the series since.

And the opening sequence for the first episode after the movie showed everybody rebuilding the town.

The opening sequences don't exactly factor into The Simpsons' canon, but you're right, they've definitely acknowledged the events of the movie as having happened in the show. Which they should, there's no reason it wouldn't be canon. :)

But that doesn't mean it won't suck.

Set phaser to suck. Anything else is a pleasant surprise. At least that's how I approach episodes these days.

That narrator really doesn't help the 'not suck' campaign.

Sideshow Bob came first to my mind. I wouldn't mind it much, Bob's appearances have become too repetitive.

Mrs. Krabapple was the first one that sprang to mind for me, just because Marcia Wallace's voice sounds so old ad tired, these days.

Sideshow Bob would make a lot more sense, though.

I think he's one of the only "real" candidates, along with Apu, Moe, Mrs. Krabapple and Krusty's dad.

That said, if they're being a bit more liberal with the whole Emmy hint, it could be anyone voiced by any of the main cast - or one of the many people they've won for, anyway.

I'm pretty sure it's going to be Krustys dad. Rarely appears on the show, doesn't stop as many possible future episode plots without him, he's the perfect character to kill off, likely in a Krusty version of Mona Leaves-a. As for the other candidates, Moe and Apu have been on the show long enough that's it's unlikely they'll just abandon them this late in the show. Edna would be interesting to kill off in an ironic sort of way, plus fit with Holidays of Future Passed continuity, but with the Nedna thing still being fairly recent, I don't think they'd be rid of the Flanders/Edna marriage that quickly after it. As for Bob, I could see it happening with it being a few years since the last Bob episode, but still seems really unlikely.

Well, the article says that the character's voice actor has won an Emmy, so we can at least rule out all characters voiced by Harry Shearer.

But I'm thinking it will be a minor character. Who it is is the question. I can't think of anyone who has a good reason to be killed off.

Anyway, I think it's pretty low of them to try to boost ratings by killing someone off again. It was stupid the first time, but to do it again is just...just...I don't even know how to describe it!

Shame on you, Al Jean. Shame on you. :nono:

Sideshow Bob is most likely, at least to me, as his death is long due. Plus, it'd make the episode stand out as the Finale of the Bob/Bart storyline.

Other than him, I can see them killing off Patty or Selma, as unless I'm mistaken, they aren't very central characters anymore. They could also kill Lenny or Carl, as their deaths wouldn't really affect the series in the long run. One of the Police Members other than Wiggum, such as the Black one (can't recall his name), would be a likely candidate as well.

Still, though, I'm going to trust my gut and assume it'll be Maude.  :hmpf:

I hope it's not Sideshow Bob; his episodes are some of the only modern ones I actually enjoy. If they do decide to kill him off, I hope we at least get to see his family one more time.

I do have to agree there.  Episodes with him in them are the only ones I watch from the Modern Era, as they're usually pretty entertaining. When I said "His Death is long due", I meant that they have 'killed' him a few times already, even if he wasn't actually dead.

True. They could always pull a "Donnie Fatso" and replace Sideshow Bob with his cousin who looks exactly like him. :p

Or they could just leave him dead forever.

If they replaced him with anyone, it'd most likely either be Sideshow Mel, his Father, or his Brother. I'd like it better if they left him dead, though, as that'd give the episode more significance.

I agree. I would have liked Fat Tony to remain dead at the end of "Donnie Fatso" for the same reason you (and I) would like Sideshow Bob to remain dead.

I guess they decided to just replace Fat Tony with a look-alike (essentially restoring the original character) since he'd been on the show for nearly twenty years at that point.

It would explain why we had so many Grampa episodes last season (and why they've been trying to paint him in a much more positive light recently).

Grampa dying would very interesting and emotional, when Homer would be thinking his relationship to his father, but it's probably not so good idea as Grampa has the role of close relative and crazy old man.

Also, I'm waiting to see how this turns out:
The Simpsons to Produce Script Written by Judd Apatow 22 Years Ago
Quote
Apparently, Apatow’s script involves Homer going to a shyster hypnotist and becoming convinced that he is a ten-year-old-boy. In the process of returning to his adolescent heyday, Homer becomes best friends with Bart and discovers it difficult to return to the workaday life of a middle-aged slob.

It was only a script-outline that Judd Apatow wrote, I believe - not a fully fledged script, so the actual episode will have been written in the exact same way as the rest of season 25, and by the same people. Judd Apatow just outlined the story and maybe a few humourous ideas of his will sneak their way in.

I'm excited to see how it turns out but I imagine it'll be turned into yet another crappy, new episode.

Also, remember when Ricky Gervais wrote an episode? And remember how the finished product has absolutely none of Ricky's voice in it, whatsoever (except literally) and was just like yet another shitty, new episode? Presumably he turned in a script and then the show's regular writers went over it, re-writing it to hell with their own jokes to "improve" it.

This will be the same.

Kinda dreading/hoping for this night's premiere. It's become such a hit-or-miss show for me. Don't screw this up, Simpsons writers.

cartoonlover27 is crazy. If he just said that Grandpa never made him laugh, he obviously never watched Seasons 1-10.

1st.) I didn't say he never did, I said rarely. He definently made me laugh more in the earlier seasons, I'm just saying I wouldn't be upset if he died.

2nd.) Why does everyone assume I'm a guy?  :p

Grampa is awesome.

That's actually really funny.  ;)
