Pondering whether actually having the CMC fail to rescue Babs and have her humiliated might have been more effective/hard-hitting, especially as/if it would have starkly revealed Babs' fragility. Could still have the same outcome... just, perhaps slightly more melancholy.

I don't know.

Anyway, yeah, good ep. Message just about there in place. Don't really enjoy the topic though so probably won't watch it again as much as the others.

I don't think it's meant to be understood, trying to understand Pinkie is nigh impossible at times like veggie salad times.

Just a few thoughts about the new episode

So pumped for this weekends episode - bring on Trixie!

Part of me was hoping that the Trixie episode would be really bad just to piss off those fans who venerate her so much but, alas, it was not to be.

Just watched the Magic Duel, and I have to say that was pretty epic. I'm going to watch it through again and leave some commentary here: (and I couldn't help myself, some pictures too - it's been too long since a Futurama episode, my lack of printscreen feels strange)

Also Futurama/MLP mashups are best mash ups

I really enjoyed this episode, which is took me by surprise, because Scotaloo is my least favourite CMC, and Rainbow Dash is my least favourite Mane Cast member (in fact, both are characters I really disliked up until now).  It was a genuinely sweet, charming little episode.

I also got horribly lost in town, but in the end I found a Fluttershy toy of my very own, which is great.

In my 'top lists' RD is best mane 6, Scoots is best CMC, Luna is best princess and Berry Punch is best bg pony... 3 out of 4 ain't bad. Especially since Scoots pretty much got the entire episode to herself

I liked that episode a lot. I realize I like RD when she's not being an arrogant butt. And I was so happy with the use of Luna in this one. Good episode.

What does the final scene represent?

Also, where does Rarity get a self-erecting pavillion from?

Rarity self-erects a lot of things. shifty

This episode appeals to my love of character continuity. Particularly Applejack and Rarity being completely unfazed by the story of the headless horse, due to having already heard it from Twilight.

So the new ep (The Wonderbolt Academy) has been leaked (by the Hub? lulz) and I have watched the leak version and I found it very awesome and probably one of Rainbow Dashs best episodes other than Sonic Rainboom.

I will wait until after the actual show time before I post a proper review.

---

There's a section in the episode which makes me wonder if the creators have seen any of the 'Fighting is Magic' previews.

That's the second leaked episode in recent memory. Shame on them! I will wait until Saturday, muttering about how kids these days have it so easy when it comes to their cartoons.

Yeah, I was disappointed that there wasn't some wax-on/wax-off explanation for the wonderbolt's Spitfire's decisions. If she had been trying to teach Dashie lessions about teamwork, obeying orders, or whatever then that would at least have been something. But as it stands the decisions seem superficial, arbitrary, short-sighted, and straight out of the Darth Vader officer training manual.

It doesn't present the Wonderbolts organisation in a good light but then again maybe that is why they perform so poorly in the field.

I'm only part-way through the episode. But damn Pinkie Pie has some serious insecurity issues.

Also, when the fuck is Fluttershy getting an episode?

EDIT: Finished. RD is growing on me, her maturity this season (so far) makes me feel like she really is trying to be a better pony instead of just being a self centered buttwad all the time who doesn't learn anything. This episode (though I noticed all the episodes so far) haven't had a "Dear Princess Celestia" ending, which I like. I was actually happy that RD got to continue being a Wonderbolt.

PS: I love the Brony Pony, I don't know what his name is but I love him because he sticks out like a sore thumb in terms of body build compared to all the lean ponies and he has a cool little earring which just tickles me.

The animation in this season is standing out to me too, sometimes good and sometimes bad.

She is pretty awesome.

Spitfire spends all her time autographing pictures. That should say plenty about her all by itself.

Incidentally, there was no hint whatserface was thrown out. In a military or paramilitary organisation like that they'd more likely send her to scrub the crapper with a toothbrush for a few weeks until she learned her lesson.

I hope Braeburn turns up in this episode and is more then just a cameo.  *whinnies*

Also, all of the ponies have had their own episode this season, except Rarity and Fluttershy. Rarity got some focus in SiP, but not enough to call it "her" episode.  Fluttershy really seems to have gotten the shaft this season, considering she has barely any lines even in the episodes she appears.

I love Applejack! frown

I just felt AFR was...nice.
Perfectly enjoyable, but not anything amazing to write home about, even the song, sadly (IMO).

Although there was that more apple fwittls? bit...
HHHHNNNNNNGGGG

It was quite touching and cleverly subtle that they'd put out there that the parents of AJ and her siblings are, after all the speculation, really actually dead - in a way that children probably wouldn't notice/understand but the grown-ups would - well get enough of a rumour/speculation mill going that they badger the show's staff to release a Twitter statement saying, literally, Eeeeyep!

Because just thinking about the episode gives you a diabetus heart attack.

But cuteness aside...

Edit: Aww, Zed beat me to it. And the song! How could I forget the song?! Since it been stuck in my head for the last few days. The more I play it, the more I enjoy it. I get why some people don't like it - but it's really a style that suits them, and so damn catchy.

So... when does RD get her song? Been hanging out for a long time. I mean, the duet with Fluttershy was nice, but I want a rock song of epic proportion.

I hope Rarity gets an episode.

So what have people thought so far about this season?  I think the episodes are for the most part okay.  They're not terrible, but none of them are really anything to write home about.  I don't think I would have gotten into the show if this was the season where I started tuning in.

If this was last weekend's episode than my excuse for not watching it until today is that I was in the middle of Utah driving home. However I'll watch it now because I love Applejack. I'd say she's my second favorite.

EDIT: Ok a whole episode about the Apple family and no mention of Applejack's parents? Are they dead?

Apple Family Reunion

If the Apple family host a family reunion every 8 years (100 moons) wouldn't Applejack already know what's involved in running one instead of needing to be told shown?

Spike at your Service

When (and from where) did Spike acquire his "dragon code" and what does it involve?

Given that the average life expectancy of a pony is between thirty-five to forty years, and assuming that Applejack is in her early twenties in human terms, she would have been only a few years old at the time of the last reunion, most likely too young to recall much of anything.

All dragons follow the Dragon Code, dontcha know? Mostly it concerns proper procedure for terrorizing villages and hoarding vast amounts of loot. The "saving a dragon's life" bit has rarely been used throughout history, as most dragons don't need saving, and those that do usually end up leased to Gringott's.

I'm not sure about that "100 moons" thing equating to 8 years... the last family reunion was shown in the first ep of season 1.

"Moons" could mean anything in equestria, really, who knows how many months they have in a year?

What we saw in the first episode wasn't an "official" family reunion, regardless of how Applejack referred to it in Applebuck Season, but an impromptu one held when a large number of Apple family members arrived in town for the Summer Sun Celebration.

I'm super-excited for the remaining episodes in this season. Fluttershy attempting to redeem Discord- don't think she'll be too successful but I love how sweet she is to at least give him a chance to reform. He wasn't that crazy.

Very cool that Tank (and maybe Peewee) should be making a return, along with all the other pets in the following episode. Can't wait to see the shenanigans those critters get themselves into. I would love to see Philomena return, but alas, that might be too great a wish.

I really love Cadance and I am glad to see her return for a second time this season. Hopefully Shining Armor will be accompanying her. But, if the mane six are visiting Canterlot, the one thing I want to see most in the show is how Twilight and Shining Armor interact with their parents. We really don't have names for them. And I'm still convinced that the family surname is Sparkle.

Poor Rarity doesn't seem to be getting her own episode this season. And Rarity is probably my favorite of the mane six (and all because of "Diamond Dogs").
