So was Spitfire okay with letting the water delivery operation fail rather than lending a hand to ensure its success?

The pegasi were told that if they could each reach 10 wingpower units a combined total of 1000 wingpower units was possible. With 8 pegasi off sick the rest couldn't quite reach 800. That means the missing fliers must have been pulling over 20 wingpower units each.

Why is Rarity  () missing from the poll?

^ Or, it means that they wouldn't have broken the 1000 wingpower record even with those 8 extra fliers, and that Rainbow Dash was expecting way too much from everypony, and their actual average wingpower was 8.6 rather than the 10 that Dash was trying to push them to achieve.

I guess Spitfire was supposed to be an impartial judge, if the attempt failed, they'd have got some other town to do it. Although considering the risk of injury during a failed attempt, that's still a bit of a dickish move from her. :p

Rarity is missing from the poll because winna edits it once every few weeks for the lulz.

^ Such a cute scene. :)

I just rewatched Hurricane Fluttershy, really like the ep now, it's so upbeat, and also it was nice to finally watch a season 2 ep where Rainbow Dash is making an effort to be nice. Hell, even Angel Bunny was nice in this ep, which was great to see.. :)

Cutie Mark Crusaders episodes have been getting a lot better lately, this one was great. Loved the mayor's hair dying and Rarity going ballistic. :)

Something neat about following Tara Strong's twitter:

Well, aside from the fact that it rocks, turns out she's also good friends with Billy West and John DiMaggio. :)

Cool :)
I wonder whether either will led a voice to the show along the way some time?
Reminds me of a pod-cast that Raphael Sbarge was doing in the build-up to Mass Effect 3, talking about how he, Jennifer Hale and Kimberly Brooks spend a lot of time with each other outside work. There seems to be a really nice camaraderie between voice actors :)

Also, yeah, loved the episode. Should I be ashamed to admit that I laughed more times during it than during some recent Futurama episodes? o_0

Yeah, I get the feeling that this episode is going to result in a lot of unsavory Rainbow Dash fanart.

Rainbow Dash facts: Is blue, likes flying fast and rock music. Doesn't like hoof-tickles, either has no gag reflex or can regurgitate cucumbers.

Great new canon!

Not at all, I'm noticing the same thing which is an unfortunate trend in modern animation to throw a mixture of random weirdness, highly-offensive jokes and pop-culture references into a blender and try and make a TV show out of the resulting mess.

Family Guy came back and popularized this sort of show, and Futurama does seem to be unfortunately following in its footsteps to some extent, which has made the show a lot less funny to watch for me compared to the much wittier original run where the humour didn't rely on that style of easily-written humour as a crutch to such a large extent.

MLP of course, can't just throw in a random sex joke or reference to some b-List American celeb, so the writers have a much harder job without those crutches to fall back on which forces a more interesting kind of humour.

Futurama is a lot more variable in terms of stinkers to hits at the moment, whereas MLP is more consistent to me. M.A. Larson is a particularly great writer, he wrote this last ep, and also "It's about Time", which are shaping up to be my 2 favourites from the second season.

Also, since the poll isn't really a good indicator, who is everyone's favourite pony?

Tough choice, but I think it's Rarity for me, Twilight Sparkle coming in very close behind. The voice acting, personality quirks and a tendency to be even more OTT than Pinkie win out for me. :)

^ Awesome, almost makes me want to turn it into a real game. Think I'd have to do Pony Battleship first though, since it's canon. :p

Also, some good news, it looks like the show is being extended, since we're starting to hear about a lot more people getting hired to work on it.

Season 3 production would be wrapping up around about now, so news of more people getting hired hints that they've either ordered another 13 eps to make season 3 a full 26, or that a 4th season with 13 eps will go ahead.

Hopefully the former, it is really, really great having MLP on each week for an entire half a year, even if it must totally wear out the animators working on it, having studied a lot of the scenes, it really is a high-end animation production with a really high standard of polish*. Either way, it looks like the show will last beyond the 65 episodes required for US syndication. :)

* There are some videos on youtube that go into great detail about the animation if you're curious, just search for "mlp animation analysis" to see a pro re-draw the scenes in flash while talking about the thought process behind it all.

Did anyone else notice that Diamond Tiara was the first to leave the classroom, evidently so she could make a dramatic entrance about a minute later?

I was kind of hoping that the Cutiemark Crusaders would publish embarrassing photos about Diamond Tiara and humiliate her. I don't know how they would have snuck it by her but the ending that they went with worked too. Everyone was so mean to them, I'm not gonna lie I think only Rarity had any real reason to be mad because they used her diary. But none of those stories were that hurtful. I know it's just a kids show but if you're gonna get mean, get really mean.

If that is so when is it likely to be formally announced?

I had to laugh when it was pointed out that of all the mane 6 it is Rarity who sets the bar for a mature and proportional response to the CMC actions.

I loved the movie spoofs, that almost made it my favorite episode. But the ending I didn't like as much. And I was kind of expecting AppleJack to have done something but she just didn't and nothing happened. It petered out at the end but I loved the first two acts.

Not animation errors.

Sinister!

That was a cool finale, almost felt like it needed an extra 45 minutes to turn it into a film. Bouquet jokes were the best part, along with the changeling fight.

They handled Twilight's rant well too, that was quite shocking and left me wondering how the hell they could possibly turn the episode around after that. Always fun to see Twilight lose it!

Now, to sit on the edge of our seats and see if this thing is going to last beyond 65 eps. Really hoping so, since the community around it is gigantic, there's well over 1000 pieces of pony art uploaded to deviantart each day, it's crazy how big the fanbase is.

It's never a certainty though, unfortunately... as I'm sure we're all aware with a certain other awesome popular show that got cancelled after 72 episodes. If it can just get past the "minimum syndication" guillotine, then it should be plain sailing after that.

They need to sell the damn full-season DVD sets already. So far season 1 boxes are only sold in Australia, and ended up being the #1 best-seller (with the walking dead and game of thrones boxsets in second and third place). Piles of money to be made!

Spoiler tags plz. :p

Twilight's response after discovering the existence of Princess Mi Amore Cadenza was especially hilarious, considering that it was identical to the fandom's initial response to discovering the existence of Princess Mi Amore Cadenza.

Zmithy is right about the timing, though. All the two-parters suffer from slight pacing issues. They need more time than just the forty minutes allotted.

I loved this episode so much! I was expecting a cute ep with funny moments...but this was so awesome! The epic power of love, the bitchy fake Princess Cadence, the awesome flashbacks, the absolute creepiness of Chrysalis (sp), god, it was just so freaking AWESOME. Loved the bouquet jokes, when Rainbow Dash kissed Fluttershy on the nose (d'aww), Spike playing with the cake toppers, the songs, Pinkie sneezing confetti, BEST EPISODE EVER.

Clearly you just didn't watch the right episode. ;)

Two-parter was ok; no more or less great than the rest of S2. My pal said that the singing was Disney-like but CLEARLY the songs were nothing like anything Disney would do(my friend is entirely a Disney n00b); they weren't songs about the plot's "trivial points" that actually made sense later on (think Gaston's song from BatB where it helps reinforce how much a dick he really is and makes you hate him more). Rather, it was more like dialogue being put to musical tunes. Tara has damn good musical talent and I'm glad it was featured here. Pacing was an issue as was previously mentioned and how it was constructed could've been tighter in some regards but I cannot say it sucked.
