I have only seen the BBC and the Dutch version before.

Quite boring if you ask me.

I prefered the British one, although I haven't seen as much of the US version. The house robots seem cooler than having stuff come up from the floor.

Robot wars has gone down hill in the last few series, it has become quite gimmicky and less carnage.

I agree, I prefer just to see them smash each other to bits. Some teams seem more keen on putting on a show than having a decent robot.

The American one is better! Why! becuase I'm American and I said so!
But really its becuase They do it right. The Robots in all these shows are made for carnage. The American show doesn't mess around! just put them in a big box with a couple non fatal(normaly) hazards and let the 'bots smash each other to bits! MWA HA HA HA!   :evillaugh:

I think you're thinking of Battle Bots, Erdrik.  There is actually an American Robot Wars, hosted by Cactus Jack, or Mankind, or whatever you want to call him.

Anyway, I like the British Robot Wars better.

I think the British version is better, or at least it was for three first three seasons. It was cool when Jeremy Clarkson presented it, and Craig Charles did a pretty good job after. I always wanted Mortis to win, but to my disappointment he never did. After season three it started to suck, and what I've seen of the American version, there's too much taliking and not enough carnage.

The British is good, but the American ROBOTICA is also very good.

By the way, Otis, how can you like that Mortis machine?

Anyway, it's retired now, and is expected to create a new robot in Series 6.

My favourite robot is probably Hypno-Disc or Gemini, but my favourite team is The Plunderbird team! They're great fun!

How could you not? He was so cool, well designed and well made. He cost £20,000 pounds to make in it's first carnation, and got kept getting upgraded ever since. That axe had to be one of the most lethal weapons ever, so much power. Those caterpillar tracks, and it’s titanium plated body were the icing on the cake.

Arg, I hate the Plunderbird team, thay are just posing prats, Hypnodisc is cool though, although in the last couple of series it failed before doing the sort of damage it did when it first appeared  :(

I agree, the Plunderbird team are posers, and their theme tune sucks. I don't like the Sir Chrome-a-lot team either, although they are pretty funny. Hypnodisc is cool simply because it's weapon can tear other robots to shreads, well most of them anyway :)

I like Pussycat, but when the 5th series starts look out for WoWot and Kan Opener, which have some amazing weaponry.

I prefer British RW beacause the American robots are built to be shredded cos in the US none of the robots have flippers.

Thats why we always win in US vs UK battles.

Hypnodisc is cool, but Mortis ownz. Choa 2 was superb, I remember it's flipper was really powerful and the whole machine had plenty of manoeuvrability. Anyone remember Recyclopse from season 1? I can't find a picture on Google  :(

You mean Cassius?  The only robot with the gumption to incapacitate the opponent, then attack the house bots instead of "finishing" the job?  The one that finished second in, series 2, I believe (we haven't had British Robot Wars here in a few years)?  THat one?  I LOVE that bot.  I think it has the best design - flying wedge with a powerful flipper/self-rightin device.

Indeed it is. Hypnodisc is my favourite, it just isn't right that they haven't won a series yet (at least not the ones I've seen). I just love how it totally tears the other robots apart. None of the wushy flipping thing, just tear them to shreds and get the job done. Besides if you just flip the opponent the house robots gets all the fun. If Hypno-disc had a self-righting-mech in it's first war, it would've destroyed Chaos 2.

Comparing American and English Robot Wars is easy. English win every time. What I've seen of American Robot Wars just seemed silly. :p

To bad Fillipa Forester isn't on English Robot Wars anymore.  :(

I think I've only seen the British one, noting the accents of the commentators. I've only seen it twice so I don't really know the robots. I saw an American show too, but don't think it was called Robot Wars. What was it, Battlebots I think?

All I can think of now is that Duracell commercial where Mr. Quacker (totally unarmed) outlasts the other bots because he's got the right batteries  :p

I know!! Mortis was so cool and I share all your views  :). I was disappointed when they kept going out so soon, and I felt sorry for the guys who used all that money.

I also like Cassius, Im sure the "owner" looked like Matt Groening.

Now that you mention it, I guess there is a similarity. Cassius was a great robot, strong, manoeuvrable and had a revolutionary design. Recyclopse was his first robot, from Season One, I wish it had one instead of Road Block.
