oh he was 3 year olds in Ep I and then he became a senator 7 days later... just like amabaladah could be queen at like 11, right?  And then from queen obviously you become a senator, that makes sense.  Everything in star wars makes sense now.  Thank you star wars prequels for making everything make sense now for everyone for everywhere.

Its worst than that...

He was 3 year old and for just triping couple times he was banned for life out of his society and then when he came back he was sentenced to death ... Gungans , the society of digital Goofies who outcast and execute their younglings just for being clumsy

Hondo should be dead, at least 5 times over by my count, I wish they'd write some good characters for Clone Wars instead of dumbasses and people who won't die.

I have eard the rumors about bringing back the original cast... and recently that
Darth Vader would be back in Ep VII ...  its simple: the script has not even began to be writen yet ..at best they are still selecting the writers.. so there is nothing..

They have selected writers.  And not just for Episode VII, but also for Episode VIII and Episode IX.

Old Yeller?  It was an adaptation of an existing novel, though.

Episode VII: The Star Wars Returns.

Peace!  Nothing is happening.  Fortunately, video technology allows our heroes to witness what has occurred the past 40 years. . . .

Star Wars Episode VII: Star Peace

The first movies did sort of imply that the rebels were a cohesive opposition, so partisan infighting would be unlikely, but there may still be forces loyal to and in a better position to jockey to control the remains of the empire.  That would avoid the necessity of movies that eschew exciting space battles for boring political talks about resurrecting the Republic.  Actually it could be interesting to see the Rebel Alliance take power and flirt with becoming a new, evil empire, only to have their efforts stymied by the Jedi.

Or, they'll bring the Trade Federation back and ruin everything.  Maybe we could just spend Life Day with the Gungans...

I suppose they could recycle, or simply adapt, the whole Yyuzhan-Vong thingy, even though I never much liked the idea of it. Has some interesting plot-points though, with the Solo kids becoming Jedi and one of them falling to the Dark Side; New Republic and Imperial Remnant effectively uniting in battle, and it pretty much ends with the "Galactic Alliance" becoming the New Empire, basically rendering everything the Rebel Alliance fought for as totally in vain.

Or at least I think it does.

The EU has pretty much 130 years worth of storyline padded out from the end of the Battle of Endor. It's just a question of whether they'll use any of it or simply discard the whole lot. Even if its the later, my mind boggles to think of a storyline that hasn't been attempted by the EU yet at some point.

Now that the news has had time to settle, there's really only one feeling I have about all this: Intense joy that we'll be getting Star Wars films by someone other than George Lucas. :D

The franchise is oddly like Star Trek, which likewise got better whenever it was distanced from its creator.

The writer they chose probably jizzed buckets when he got that call, but I imagine he'll feel incredibly pressured to not make it suck, poor guy.

Yes, the "anybody but Lucas" mentality is what I rallied against in the 2008 and 2012 elections.  What if "anybody" turns out to be Uwe Boll (or Mitt Romney)?

When was the last time Disney made a decent live-action film?  Has it ever happened?

The Avengers. The Muppets. Pirates Of The Carribbean. The Santa Clause.

That said, those are 4 out of about 500 absolute stinkers.

Touché.  It shows that Disney can when they really want to (or when they put the right people to do it).  But I only consider Pirates of the Caribbean a true Disney film.  The three others are based on others' material.

Of course, so is Star Wars now.  So maybe there is hope after all.

I saw this Star Wars ep IV post on FB and it was the first I'd heard of this particular plot detail -- is this canon or just something made up by a fan?  Were there any hints of it in the film?

"Character of the Week: R5-D4 - Aboard the sandcrawler, the new arrival R2-D2 damaged R5-D4’s motivator acting under the orders of Princess Leia to find Obi-Wan Kenobi by any means possible."

Not that I recall. R2-D2 was stopped by a Jawa restraining bolt when R5-D4 went off with C3-PO instead of him. Doesn't sound like a droid who knew a motivator was going to go pop.

Nope.  That's prequel-level, overly-prescient bullshit.  "Destiny" is a better explanation, which is to say it's not an explanation.  With the way the movie canon has been screwed with, I don't doubt it could be the official story, but it sucks, it's stupid, it enervates a classic moment in the films, and it makes the films' most genuinely loveable characters look like a cold-blooded killer.

Here is the strange thing.  In Star Trek, Lord of the Rings and A Song of Ice and Fire, dwelling into the details of the universe and the 'unseen' items makes the world more interesting and come alive.  But in Star Wars, it is the exact opposite; the more I learn about the world, its details and history, the less exciting the stories become.

I don't care, as long as they finally make the male Twi'leks hot.  You get an entire species of Oolas and Lyn Mes.

And we get Bib Fortuna and... this.

Seriously, it's like an entire species where the females look like Mila Kunis and the males look like Fred Phelps.
