And she probably could put up more than one facial expresion while experimenting different emotions

The queen was forbidden to show too much emotion while in full uniform.

Doesn't Naboo have a demarchy, and all the royalty serve for like a month?

The term is 4 years long and they are allowed to serve up to two terms, or 8 years. The people of Naboo tried to amend the constitution to keep Amidala in office, but she refused.

And would he say that my father is my father, and that my son is my son.  To whom do we refer, when we discuss with ourselves how mature we have become.

Was her name at birth "Mary-Sue"?  The whole "democratically-elected queen" thing strikes me as having one's cake and eating it too.  Either she's a queen and of a special, bequeathable bloodline, or she's elected and just a pleb who's gotten ahead.  There's nothing wrong with either one of those.  In fact you could argue that there is nobility in both.  But for her to be both is just infuriatingly contrived.

Her age is also infuriating.  I'm willing to accept that Naboooians have a culture where electing a child to be the planet's chief executive is standard practice.  Maybe they'd look at our culture, where 14-year olds can't even drive a non-hovering car and the "over the hill" 35-and-up crowd are the only ones who can be elected to wield widespread political power, and they'd think, "What a weird place.  They don't even make their President dress in a ridiculous, cumbersome clown suit and hide his or her emotions like a freaking Vulcan."

But I say, "Fuck Naboo."  Maybe the Trade Federation should have conquered their collective asses if only to make them make sense.  This goes back to the whole democratically-elected queen thing.  Child sovereigns are not novel.  When the only qualification one needs to be queen or king is a non-Kenyan birth certificate with parents whose names are styled HM, just about anyone can inherit the throne.  Even if Padme was a Howserian genius with Campbellian, mm-mm-good credentials, how much experience in public policy could she have amassed in her 14 years on the planet that would make her a better candidate than a less-accomplished but more stoic-in-a-clown-suit 15 year old?

Also, I don't buy that malarkey about restrained emotions while in the clown suit one bit.  It strikes me as back-building to fill in for some poor directing of an otherwise fairly talented actress.  Being in control of one's emotions in public is not the same thing as being a talking mannequin in a clown suit.  It's certainly more interesting to watch than being a talking mannequin in a clown suit.

That whole scene where Anakin magically learns how to fly spaceships and destroys the trade federation's mother ship is bullshit.
But he tried spinning!  How would his enemies possibly counter that?  It's such a good trick!

Yes, I bet you guys have, and while I am at it I will just declaim and averr again:

Also, did you guys know that that Red Letter Media that some of you keep going on about a lot is based here in Milwaukee.  Well it apparently is.  I have been wanting to point that out for a long time, there, now I can sleep better.
The way I was first alerted to Red Letter Media being here was I recognized some of the areas around Farwell and Brady streets (on the East Side) in some video Svip I think linked a good while ago.

Also near there is a street called Downer.

:D

Also, DrTwee used one of my favorite words lately "malarkey", hweee!

I thought the whole thing about the 'democratically-elected-monarch' acting like an android while she's in costume also had something to do with making her more indistinguishable from her body-double. Saddam did the same thing.

Well what she lacked in expressing emotions she sure made up in strenght..

This is Leia holding a blaster:

This a combar droid.. so a robot made for combat (yes ..we can laught later) holding a similar blaster:

And of course a Storm trooper... a soldier specially trained in full armour with high intensity physicall training

You notice a patern here right? similar blasters.. all of them holding them with both hands as its suposed to..

But not Padme.. she is sure a badass:

Really those stormtroopers/clones , droids and her own daughter could use her workout program for this..

PD: No really.. there is tons of pics about this..

It could be okay. As long as it's populated by gritty human characters, rather than a plethora of cartoonish CGI aliens. It's a good period to set it in. The working title suggests a dark tone.

So long as Lucas gets to touch it, you can probably forget that idea. Just like I could hope they'd use more models, puppets, etc. but like THAT would happen.

He mentioned it's going to cost as much as a prequel film for each episode, so that = CGI out the wazoo. :(
They totally don't need to do that, if fatass Lucas wasn't surgically attached to his directors chair in front of his green-screen studio he could go out to locations
If they made it look like Hunter Prey (budget of $425,000) I would be fine with that
Hell I'd even take Troopers!

I'm not seeing it specifically because I can't stand Episode I.
Also, 3D.
Also, Germans.

I must confess I'm a little curious about how one goes about turning a 2D movie into a 3D movie... especially the original trilogy.

They fart around with the scenes and it ends up looking like a shitty pop-up book, OR like Harry Potter 7, looked the same as a 2D movie, only you had to wear glasses and when you took them off the picture was blurry.

I dunno, in my opinion the first two films (in terms of release date) sit atop Mount Olympus, with ESB sitting a little higher than ANH. RotJ floats around a fair bit below, just inside the Gates and sometimes, depending on my mood, RotS is briefly allowed inside the gates too to keep RotJ company, otherwise it hovers around outside. AotC languishes half way up the mountain while TPM lies in a collapsed heap just outside Litochoro.

Just had a horrible thought.
What if Lucas gets it in his head to insert a scene into A New Hope where Vader recognises R2-D2, and chats to the robot, reminiscing about the time they destroyed the droid command ship together, before excusing himself to go and kill Obi Wan?

...I shouldn't have articulated that. He'll probably do it now.
