Are they going to make another movie with the really stupidly named metal and those lesbian cat things in loincloths?

At least two... and probably more following that, although I imagine they'd be put together without much, if any, input from Cameron.

Ah well Cameron's stories are all fairly cliche'd anyway.   Like that movie with the pallid couple in the big ship who go dogging in the hold and then one of them dies and the other one is sad and then she drops an expensive necklace into the sea and that's that.

Well if you go to the next LGBT meeting, there will be quite a few gay people dressed up as them.  Whether they will even be female, or the attractive kind of lesbian, i cannot promise you anything.

They abandoned the only good plot change from the Raimi movies - being the organic webs coming out of his wrists. They were less far-fetched than a teenager being able to manufacture those web-shooters and yet not be a multi-millionaire inventor.

I will admit that The Lizard looks pretty cool.

The lizard looks..... kind of cool.... but it also looks like a bunch of cgi tom-foolery.

I agree with you completely about the organic web shooters though.  I think that was the best part to come out of those films.  In some variations of the franchise, Peter Parker is a highly intelligent physics student, so if he's not in high school building his own wasn't too far fetched.  The organic explanation is just better though.

Yeah, I mean... if he was tech-savvy enough to build fancy compact shooters to produce a stream of instant-hardening polymer, then surely he could have come up with some kind of stun weapon to knock out bad guys, ultra-lightweight body-armour to protect himself... hell, any number of things. Sure, he made spider-tracers to link to his spider-sense, but that's about it. And if he's so clever, why not patent something? Instant wound-dressing or some other emergency material based on the web-fluid. Or some other innovation - he's versatile enough to have come up with web-shooters to tie-in neatly with the spider-theme, why not any number of other gadgets? Why not become a millionaire so he could continue crimefighting in financial security like Bruce Wayne? But no, instead he ignores his technical genius as a means of supporting himself and instead continues to struggle along as a poorly-paid freelance photographer for what is essentially a superhero tabloid. It's stupid.
In amongst all the unlikely nonsense about radioactive spider-bites granting superhuman powers, industrialists putting on goblin masks, guys named "Octavius" ending up with eight limbs, etc... the web-shooters were always the most unbelievable part to me.

Yeah, the spider-armour was a one-time thing in the comics. Built for a specific purpose (I forget who he was fighting). It was heavy and hampered his movement.
Nevertheless.

Well in the comics, Peter is essentially a genius scientist studying in college even before being bitten...and then being bitten makes him smarter as well. So it kind of makes sense. Kind of. But ya...it won't make sense in this movie, most likely.

What's odd though is that they changed it to him actually making the shooters...but yet in the trailer, there's a clip of him pulling some silk from the back of his neck. So...he produces it naturally, and also needs to develop shooters? What the shit?

I get the feeling that the silk on his neck is coming directly from the spider bite; it looks all puncture-y and inflamed and stuff. A cow bit me in the arm once, and I was spurting milk from my elbow for a week.

Also: I love Emma Stone so bad. She is reason enough for me to see this movie.

I mean, if you've got Andrew chained to your radiator, who the hell do I have bound and gagged in my basement? Jesse Eisenberg?

...Michael Cera?

Yes, I know. One of the final episodes too. They took a few things from the comics, out of context. That's also the only appearance of the Scarlet Spider outside the comics.

Well in the comics, Peter is essentially a genius scientist studying in college even before being bitten...and then being bitten makes him smarter as well.

Sure, but it still doesn't explain why he isn't Bruce Wayne/Tony Stark kind of rich as a result of his genius.

Huh. Didn't see that. Perhaps the 'shooters' are just some device to enable directional projection of a silk-substance that secretes from his skin, which might also be explained as the source of his ability to cling to surfaces. But I'm just guessing. I will, of course, line up like a mook to see the movie when it comes out.

I've got Justin Timberlake in the boot of my car.

If you're interested, I'll happily trade him for David Cross, Jason Bateman or Ron Howard's voice.

Or we could just pool our captives together and make them dance whilst blindfolded as we poke them with hot irons? When they start crying, we can make bad jokes about them not being very social to say they starred in 'The Social Network'.

From the files of THINGS NOBODY WANTED: upcoming sequels

Chronicles of Riddick (untitled sequel)

A Good Day to Die Hard

GI JOE 2

Resident Evil: Retribution

I, Robot 2

28 Months Later

Hancock 2

Independence Day 2 & 3

Top Gun 2

Kill Bill Volume 3

All of these things are actually in the works. Some in early stages and may not end up happening, but still... even the fact that they're being seriously considered...
You may all kill yourselves now.

Chronicles of Riddick is fine... as well as the Resident Evil movie.  Once you realize they're just B horror movies from here on out and they only kind of tie in to the game franchise, they're pretty good as long as you don't pay money to see them.  Even if you do pay money, Milla Jovovich runs around half naked with at least one other pretty hot star.

28 Months could be ok.  Top Gun might not be horrible as long as it's about fighter pilots and has no connection to the original film except maybe cameos from some of the characters grown old.

I'm happy for them to make 'A Good Day to Die Hard'. They're yet to produce a 'Die Hard' movie that I don't like, even if the 4th one turned John McClane into a full-on superhero. Patrick Stewart is rumoured to be playing the Russian villain in it. If there's one way to follow on from Alan Rickman as Hans Gruber and Jeremy Irons as his brother, it's Patrick Stewart as a Russian (or Christoph Waltz as some other member of the Gruber family).

My understanding of 'I, Robot 2' is that it's actually just going to be an adaptation of another Isaac Asimov story, but packaged as a sequel to sell it to the masses.

'28 Months Later' could be fantastic. '28 Weeks Later' was far better than it had any right to be and Danny Boyle has expressed an interest in returning to direct 'Months'.

And as for 'Kill Bill vol. 3', fair enough. If Tarantino wants to do it, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. He wants to return to where the character is 10 years down the line, I believe - so this is likely to be his next film after 'Django Unchained'. But yeah, I can't imagine Tarantino would do it without good reason to do so.

What I would really like to see is a much expanded "Director's Cut" version of Deep Impact*.  Reportedly, it was significantly hacked and slashed to greatly reduce the running time.  For those who don't know, Deep Impact was the other asteroid impact end-of-the world disaster film.  The popular one featured Bruce Willis and had a very tenuous link to scientific reality.  Deep Impact was significantly more grounded in science and even had the late Eugene Shoemaker consulting.  Gene knew a thing or two about asteroid impacts.  Look up Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 and Gene Showmaker's work proving the true origin of Barringer Crater.

* That was originally typo-ed "Depp Impact", changing the meaning just a bit...
