Take Me Home Tonight looks like it should be fun... as does The Hangover Part II.

Take Me Home Tonight came out here in the states back in March, and unfortunately due to poor box office it was in theaters like 3 weeks tops! Which is a shame because it is a fantastic movie! I love it, I recommend it to anyone who enjoys their John Hughes movies, it's a great ode to the 80's.

Attack The Block looks really great. I hope it gets released in Australia at some point in the not-too-distant future.

Thor is supposed to be awesome!

Not the film, though.  Thor is pretty awesome in the original mythology, until the Americans took him and made it gay.

It's really hard to gay up the Norse pantheon to the point where they're not awesome though. I mean, whatever else happened to Thor between the original mythology and the American era, he's still got the world's most badass hammer, and he's still the son of Odin. He's still the god of thunder, and he's never going to not be awesome. Even if the film made him just a little bit soppy. He's still Thor. All of his most integral aspects are pure win.

The plates they are wearing are so gay.  And the depicting of Odin?  Oh boy, don't get me started!

Sure, it's not the way that anybody with a passing knowledge of the Norse myths would interpret them, but it's still as good as you're going to get. So quit whining. Draw your own Thor comic.

Another film down the line that sounds good is Rian Johnsons Looper (he directed Brick), a film about time travelling hitmen, also has Joseph Gordon Levitt.
Empire has a shot of BW in it recently:

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Actually kind of looking forward to this. It at least looks a lot better than the shitfest that was the remake from 2001. I guess it's going to be sort of a remake of the 4th film, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes. James Franco, John Lithgow, Andy Serkis...I'm interested.

Is that from excitement or fear? With Steven Moffat involved, it could be a bit of both.

It's probably people who are trying to act like they're smart and cultured. Getting booed at Cannes means a film's in trouble.

Speaking of Cannes: this year's festival opened with Midnight in Paris, Woody Allen's new film that's been reviewed as his best film of the 2000s (better than Match Point or Vicky Cristina Barcelona). I'm excited.
