Is anyone else interested in seeing this?  I think it looks very promising!   The old one was awesome, but this one looks really cool!   Feel free to put in your two cents.

I'm confident it's going to be as hot as the new Knight Rider was.

The original Hawaii Five O was a classic, a snapshot of old Honolulu in the 1970's.  I've seen the promos for the new one, and it looks absolutely lame; totally indistiguishable from other cop tv dramas.  I guess some studio suit thought it was a no brainer to take another classic tv show & put in a new cast.  He probably thought "This is a sure fire winner".  Well, he should have done his homework, because another studio suit tried to resurrect the series back in (I think) the late 90's, and it bombed.

Maybe, one of these days, studios will start coming up with original ideas again, instead of crapping all over classic programs by rebooting them.

My favorite of all time was the show that Barnaby Jones was spun off from, "Cannon", which was about an obese private detective that waddled from case to case, wheezing as he went.  There was little physical action (running, fighting, etc) due to his condition, and he was constantly sweating.  He drove this big ass black Lincoln Continental, so he really couldn't do stakeouts without being noticed.  Everytime that show came on TV, I'd start laughing...

Speaking of failure-prone remakes of seminal crime procedurals, didn't one of the networks try to restart Dragnet only to fail miserably?  Yeah, it starred Ed Oneill, so every time I heard someone say "Friday" I subconsciously heard it as "Bundy".

You're right, they did and it did.  It's the Al Bundy curse for Ed.  He was in the movie "Flight of the Intruder", and at a very important dramatic moment his character walks into the Navy interrogation room.  Unfortunately for him, test audiences started busting up & laughing like crazy when they saw who it was, to the point where the producers made the decision to drop his character from the film.
